I had my nails done here about three times. 2/3 times I had to come back because either the nail polish changed colors or the nails were chipped after one day. Once I brought it to their attention, they said it was my fault. I was very offended that I was blamed for their cheap products. It's just not worth the time or money. And if you get it done right the first time, people wouldn't need to come back. Oh and don't let the old lady do your nails or the guy. They have no idea what they are doing. read more

I scheduled an appointment and discovered Kathy and John were no longer there. I have had my nails done once since the new owners took over and I wasn't very satisfied. I wish I got the two ladies names that worked there (one was older, the other was younger). The older one did my nails and just grabbed my hands and pointed at what she wanted me to do. I don't want to say she was aggressive, but she didn't make my experience great. I also got burnt from one of the tools used to remove my acrylics. So powder dip nails have been a new nail trend which dips your nails with a certain polish and dips your nails into it to create fake nails instead of acrylic or solar. It's healthier for your nails and adds vitamins back into your nails too. I have been obsessed with this new trend and this place does it!! not all nail salons do this so it's great that this place offers it and does it beautifully! There's so many ways to do it and in different colors but I prefer the classic look of white French tips. John did my French dip powder and it looks amazing! he's fast at doing this and it turns out looking neat and elegant. I enjoyed my visit today. It's a humble business. I enjoyed the company of the owners. Very nice people. He did an excellent job of both colored powder and pedicure. Though they charged for removal of my dip whereas in other places they don't if you get another set. So my nails came out a little more expensive than where I normally go. However, they did recommend how to me how to save in the long run. My pedicure was good and so was the massage! Oh so good! My pedicure was less expensive. So I can say that you won't pay for overhead and the bells and whistles, which will save you money. But the quality is there. read more

This use to be my favorite place to get my nails done when Kathy and John were here. Now it's became the worst, I recently got my nails done and shortly after they started chipping and cracking. When I informed the new owner she informed me that I would have to pay for the service of fixing the problem, even though I had just kigotten my nails done. When Kathy was there if I would have ANY recent problems with my nails she would gladly fix it without charging. My mom, myself and a neighbor had gone to Kathy's nails for a few years and LOVED it. Husband/wife team, didn't take walk-in's so your appointment was ALWAYS on time, if not earlier. Business was fairly quiet so you really could get some relaxation time with pedi's. But then they retired about 3 months ago and sold the business. We tried it a couple of times with new owners but to no avail. Always late with our appointments and I believe now take walk-in's which makes a difference. Also they raised the prices significantly and are defintely not as clean as the previous owners and the place is now loud. Sadly, we won't be returning. read more

Came to Kathy's Nails for manicure and pedicure. The place is small and it doesn't have high tech equipment but the couple that run the shop are nice. The guy put three coats on my nails and they were smudged three hours later. The massage was very relaxing and longer than most nail places. The most tacky salon I have ever been to. Visiting my mom in Universal City for the day, but needed a fill. Look up some reviews and land here. I walk in and tell the guy what I need and he proceeds to hand me a bucket with wooden sticks with nails on the end to pick out my gel shellac color. The lady comes over and I tell her I'm looking for something similar to what I have on my nails, and she simply says, that's all we have. I don't know why I didn't get up right then and there. I tell her what I want and she tells me, I charge $21 for this and $11 for that... okay... fine. She gets to work on my fill and asks me to go wash my hands. I come back and she asks how I'm paying.. I tell her cards and she pulls out her card reader... she has not finished my nails? I ask her if it is normal to ask for payment in the middle of service (since the lady next to me received a pedicure and was almost done with her stuff, and had yet to be asked for payment) and she said we were more than half way done, and some people's cards get declined...? Never have I ever had a professional nail tech stop in the middle of service to ask for payment. I told her It was unprofessional and embarrassing and she just smirked and said sorry. I told her to charge me for what she had completed because I was leaving. She smiled and said okay. She did not care one bit how she made me feel. This is an excellent nail salon. My nails are always perfect. They really care about what you want. This is a husband and wife establishment. The place is clean and very neat. They are very friendly.
