The food is amazing! The pho bowls are absolutely delicious, easy and gentle on the stomach. But be warned. Come hungry or come ready for leftovers. The bowls are enormous. We ate and ate and barely made a dent in this abyss of tastiness. At one point I looked away and my soup spoon disappeared. I fear it is lost in a sea of broth. In my hubris I ordered extra noodles. I wanted to love it. First off, there was only one server dealing with people, takeouts, cashier, so the wait time to order was about 10 minutes even though it was only two customers there. I ordered the Vietnamese spring rolls with shrim. They were bland. No veggies, only lettuce, rice noodles and shrimp. Peanut sauce left to be desired. I also ordered the B2 with brisket, eye round, and fatty brisket. I can history say I probably got maybe 5 pieces of meat (and that's exaggerating). Broth wasn't tasty. To accompany the pho, the server brought cilantro, jalapeño, lime and sprouts. I asked for basil and there was none. I left very unimpressed. read more

I ordered the combination vermicelli to go and I was not a fan. The noodles were ice cold, not sure if that was how they are normally served? The shrimp/meats were a little tough and the sauce had little to no flavor. I would like to go back and try the Pho, maybe that would be a better choice. The food is very fresh/tasty and plentiful. The bowls and dishes are so plenty full we had some for later. Excellent service and the food came out very quickly and hot. I have been eating pho since my childhood and I am 55 now. I am telling you that this is one of the top 3 I have ever had. When you try the broth first and realize that it is so good it doesn't need any hoisin sauce, then you have found one of the best you will ever have. Highly recommended! read more

I think the pho is great! I'm especially happy that I live close enough to the restaurant that whenever I have a hankering it's almost always an option. The staff is also incredibly friendly and attentive. The only thing is that their hours are sometimes difficult to remember, so I always have to check first. If you're interested in trying this place I suggest check the hours first just to be safe, and definitely pop in because it's "chef's kiss" and worth the visit! read more

We were here when it first opened and we were underwhelmed by the food. We decided to give it one more try and we're happy we did. The place is quiet and very clean. We had fried dumplings and egg rolls as an appetizer. Yum! I had a small pho with brisket and my wife had vermicelli with sliced pork. Fantastic! There was only one server and she was very busy. To the owners - this is a long review, but given with the best of intentions. You have the opportunity to make this good restaurant of yours a GREAT restaurant by paying attention to the food itself. Everything else you done well with; great atmosphere, service, cleanliness, and staff, so if you correct the issues and improve the food quality, you'll be GRADE A. Wife and I went there for lunch today. We've been waiting for quite awhile for Pho Saigon to open and this was our first opportunity, not living in Dothan, driving from Marianna, FL ocassionally for shopping and such. To preface this review: Having eaten authentic Vietnamese food for over 40 years, and on many ocassions having authentic home-cooked Vietnamese food from many Vietnamese friends, I bring to the review a lot of exposure to the good and bad of Vietnamese food. I'll start with the following: Pros of the facility and service - Cleanliness - The place was very clean and well maintained, with decor being very pleasant. - Atmosphere - very nice calm and quiet place to eat. Tables were arranged to allow for spacious enough seating. - Service - the service was commendable with all the servers very friendly and highly attentive. Cons of the facility and service - Chairs - the chairs are made of metal and not very wide. My wife and I are both 6ft tall and average weight and could barely fit into the chairs due to the chairs seats and arms being so narrow which was slightly uncomfortable. If you are proportionally challenged from the waist done, you will find the chairs extremely uncomfortable - Napkins - the napkins they brought to the table were "cocktail napkins" As nice as this place is, I'm sure they can afford full-sized paper napkins. Suggestions - Get some wider chairs or chairs without arms - Buy some full-sized napkins. Food My wife ordered the P2 (Pho 3 sides) which was a nice surprise to be able to pick the ingredients. Pros and Cons - serving size was reasonable Taste - the broth tasted good, but was lacking in deep substance and flavor as if watered down. From my experience, this is due to not simmering the beef bone broth for a long enough time to extract the full flavors into the broth. Sides/Condiments - normally Pho is served with Thai basil, Cilantro, and Jalapenos, and fresh mung bean sprouts. There was definitely not enough basil and the fresh mung bean sprouts were cold (thawing from being frozen) and had lost their crunchiness. We did ask for more Thai basil and the staff was eager to provide. Suggestions - increase the amount of ingredients on the side to add to the Pho when you first bring it out and make sure they are fresh - Let your bone beef broth cook longer to get a stronger flavor or don't water it down - don't rush this process. The secret to good Pho is the beef bone broth. I ordered the V2 (Vermicelli with Shrimp and Grilled Pork), Vietnamese iced coffee, and A-1 Vietnamese spring rolls with shrimp and pork. Pros and Cons - serving size was smaller than to what I'm normally accustomed and for $11.00 for the dish (not accustomed to paying more than $8-$9 for this size of dish), I expected a little more volume. Taste - the taste was decent, however the vermicelli seemed overcooked. The flavor improved after I added the fish sauce, (I had to ask for double portions of the fish sauce) to offset the noodle starchiness and sogginess. The grilled pork was very tasty however there were only THREE shrimp in the entire bowl. From my experience, there are normally 6-7 shrimp in a dish such as this. Cucumbers and carrots in the dish seemed not to be very fresh, not having the normal crunch I associate with fresh cucumbers and carrots, as if they'd been sitting for awhile or re-used from the previous day. The spring rolls were very tasty and appeared to be fresh. The accompanying peanut sauce was different than to what I'm accustomed, tasting like soy sauce instead of hoison was used as the base, but still tasty with the spring rolls. Iced coffee was very well made and was what I expected of a good Vietnamese iced coffee. Suggestions - Don't overcook the vermicelli - Add more shrimp to the dish - Ensure you are using fresh vegetables (carrots and cucumbers) - Don't short change the customer on serving size - add more noodles, carrots and cucumbers. I wish that I would give this place a better review as the service was amazing, the atmosphere very welcoming, the menus well done, and the place very clean, however the food brought that down (quality, portion size, and price per portion). Minor changes could make this place a five star restaurant, in my opinion, but for now, until improvements are made, I'm probably going to drive the extra distance to Tallahassee to get Vietnamese food from my favorite hole-in-the-wall place there.
