BEST ICE CREAM I'VE EVER HAD! I've tried almost half of the flavors, and haven't had a dud yet. Pistachio is my favorite - it's mind blowing delicious! Every option tastes so pure and flavorful, you can tell this ice cream is not made with artificial flavoring. My whole family is addicted. We stop weekly for a dish/cone and always get a few pints to take home. It keeps perfectly in the freezer at home and even maintains its smooth, creamy texture. Went here for the first time about a month ago. I gotta say the hand made waffle cones are the best bang for your buck. The mouth of the cone is massive, bigger then any other waffle cone I have ever seen. They fill it up, then start counting the scoops! So one scoop is really about four. I got the brownie sundae which was smaller then I had hoped it would be but, the flavors were good and ratio was good. Right across the street is a Dairy Queen but this place is the spot to f you are in Kent. read more

We went to this ice cream shop tonight. My chocolate ice cream was filled with ice crystals. My husband ordered a large hot fudge sundae. His ice cream was one very small scoop, a little chocolate sauce, and a lot of whip cream not acceptable. Katies ice cream rocks. Stopped by on a warm February afternoon and I have to say that This is some of the best ice cream in BE Ohio. The setup is simple, a small free standing building that used to be the DQ many years ago before it moved across the street. A bit funky, but just fine for a place to get ice cream. The menu board has a long list of flavors, since it is February, a number of them are not available. I did get to try the Caramel Cashew and the Belgium Dark Chocolate; both were excellent. The ice cream is rich and thick with almost no added air so the ice cream started hard, but softened nicely as it warmed. The Carmel Cashew starts with a nice smooth vanilla base and then adds lots of caramel and a fistful of cashews; not too sweet, with the nuts giving some crunch, this is really good. The Belgium dark chocolate is about as chocolaty as can be made, just the right amount of sweet and a nice contrasting touch of bitterness. Dark, smooth and rich this may be the best dark chocolate ice cream I have had. This may be the best home made ice cream in the area, really well balanced and well made. I can only imagine how good this will be on a really hot day during the summer. read more

Katie's Korner is a small, outdoor mom & pop style ice cream shop. They make all of their own ice cream flavors and offer lots of great seasonal options. Their outdoor seating area is nice and relaxing. I love sitting there watching the sunset with my ice cream in the summer =) This is definitely my favorite ice cream place in Kent! read more

I hate to be the bear of bad news but I just couldn't stay quiet on this one! I ordered a scoop of cookie dough ice cream and I kid you not, there was only a single (yes- one, uno, solely alone), piece of cookie dough in it. You could imagine my disappointment as everyone knows the best part of cookie dough ice cream is finding a piece of dough in every bite. I understand it could of been a mishap with the scooping technique, so I think I'll give this establishment another chance one day in the future as i see it has received many positive reviews! Katie's Corner has lots of flavors to choose from, and they always have all of them available (except seasonal flavors, of course). So if there's a certain flavor you love, you know it'll always ben there, unlike the ice cream shoppes that rotate flavors. However, Katie's leaves something to be desired; they're missing the wow factor. All of the flavors I have tried are quite good, but they're not special and very few are unique. Still, it's a solid option if you need a good ice cream kick and you're in the area. Personally, I find Arctic Squirrel over in Acorn Alley to have better-executed, more unique choices. read more

Over all the ice cream is good but not the best I've had in the area. My kids all three loved their Superman ice cream, the strawberry cheesecake was also very good but the cake batter left a lot to be desired, my husband ended up scooping it out and throwing away to just eat his cone. Service was also on the slower side, and drive through was helped before walk up which can be slightly annoying. read more

Huge list of flavors-- pretty great considering these are all home made. We had the dark chocolate peanut butter, the blue raspberry cheesecake and the mouse truffle. Especially liked the first two-- excellent flavors and nice texture. Can't wait to go back and try some of the others! read more

Haha I can't believe no one has reviewed this place yet. It's the best ice cream in the area. They have unique flavors and the make their own waffle cones. That is the key to a good ice cream cone, and theirs are the best. It's a walk up window in a movie theatre parking lot. There are some picnic tables to sit and enjoy your homemade waffle cone. It is hard to screw up Ice Cream. The nice thing about Katie's is that it is pretty close to campus and close to a movie theater.

I know some people are biased one way or the other for ice cream and custard around the area. I am biased as well. For Katie's Korner. Best ice cream (to me at least) in the entire area. Generous portions and good prices. Pretty large selection as well. Nice place to stop after the movie, or just because. I don't know if there is any bad thing I can say about Katie's. There have been many evening runs for their ice cream, especially when I was pregnant. I have yet to encounter a flavor I did not like. Their Pumpkin and German Chocolate Cake ice creams are divine. Their prices are reasonable as you get quite a lot for your money. read more

For example I wasn't feeling so well a few nights ago and all I wanted was some Katie's corner homemade ice cream. So I showed up literally 3 minutes before closing (I didn't realize you were closing then though until I saw them putting down shade etc.) Anyways the couple of employees there helped me out and were wonderful. Every time I come (even through the drive through) I get great service and amazing ice cream. I will continue to be a loyal customer and I dread the day I ever leave kent because I would have to find a way to survive without Katie's corner ice cream. read more

SCRUMPTIOUS ICE CREAM!! I have lived in this area all of my life, but just recently discovered Katie's Korner Ice Cream. It was absolutely delicious! My two friends agreed and it was so good, I went back a couple of days later with my husband and mom! :) The girls serving the ice cream could not have been any friendlier and upbeat and efficient. The scoops were HUGE and the price was reasonable. I thought it was cool that they have a drive-thru, too, although we sat outside on the benches near the picnic tables. I was visiting this area while on vacation and stumbled upon this little gem. The ice cream selections were great and the ice cream was fresh and delicious. I tried the black walnut and the butter pecan and sampled some of the options that my family ordered. Yes, we made additional trips as it was right down the street from our hotel. Everything was very good and I highly recommend making this little place a "must stop" destination on your journey. read more

Asked for a quart of chocolate almond, I got chocolate with only ONE almond and some berry stuff was mixed with it. Absolutely awful. $6 for poor quality service. Northeast Ohio is blessed with an abundance of great ice cream shops, including old fashioned frozen custard shops that make a product with a heart- stopping high percentage of milk fat. Competition is fierce. KK is part of the bunch and family owned, locally made, high quality hard ice cream in 30 or so favors to please anyone. They also make fruit flavored sherbets and ices- usually 3 or 4. What sets KK apart is the quality, the large servings, off-season hours and reasonable prices. Many delicious flavors incl French Silk, coffee chip and cinnamon and some of the special seasonal flavors are outstanding. I always try pumpkin when it's featured in the fall and no other place ( including special store brands) come close to KK's pumpkin: rich, creamy, perfectly spiced, " pumpkinny" pumpkin that looks like pumpkin, not neon. Absolutely incredible. Katie's Korner pumpkin is the very definition of late fall. Delicious. read more

I visited this past weekend during a trip to Kent and it is still the same delightful ice cream stand all these years later.
