    Best bbq !!!

Best BBQ we have ever had!! Excellent service! This family own business is a hidden treasure!

I cannot rave about this place enough! The moment we walked in the vibe was just wholesome and happy. The gentleman who took our order was friendly and talked to us like he'd known us for years and was still professional. Ordering was easy, getting our food was fast, they have specials which is always amazing! The owner is SO kind!! He truly focuses on feeding people good food and making people happy! We are from Arizona and recently moved here 1 week ago and this will forever be THE BBQ spot for us and for family and friends that visit.

1st time and it was a hit! At first we pulled up to SOLD OUT! signs but one of the team members came out and said they still had some brisket left. Which is EXACTLY what we wanted! We had 1lb of brisket (moist & flavorful), Mac & cheese, and potato salad. They also had their house BBQ sauce that paired perfectly with each item we had. (They even have a spicy one!) Brisket was so good I ordered 1lb to go and ordered a quart of their 'Kat's Brisket & Sausage Queso'. The food was wonderful, staff was funny/friendly, and restaurant was super clean. We had a great time talking to the staff/owners as if it was friends/family you haven't seen in a bit. I will definitely be back soon for more! PRO TIP: They service until they sell out! So get there early or miss out on the goods!

Tried Kat's because of the high reviews and it's a local business. It did not disappoint. Everything is made from scratch. The ribs were the star of the show, but don't sleep on that pulled pork or house made sausage. Fun personable staff. Would recommend going even if it takes you 5 miles out of the way.

Stopped in at lunch on a Sat. It was empty until around 12 when it got busy. Its a casual vibe in an old pier and beam building. Had a two meat plate of pork ribs and turkey. Both are great! All the sides are great but the mac and cheese and potato salad are show stoppers. The cole slaw has celery and adds a nice contrast to the sweet dressing. The spicy bbq sauce is delish and I usually pass on sauce so that should tell you something. My brother had the double bone in pork chop that was served with a brown sugar maple butter and mashed potatoes which he said were fantastic! We split a raspberry chocolate cake which had a thick ganache icing and mouse filling. The dessert case is something to marvel with lots of choices including their homemade banana pudding.

Probably some of the best bbq I've ever had, if not the best. They were extremely welcoming and friendly, joking and striking up conversation with first timers (like us) and seasoned regulars alike. One tip: they are open until they sell out, and this happens earlier or later depending on the day. So either call ahead or get there as early as possible. This is a family run business with incredible bbq, fair prices, and a casual atmosphere. The owner was serving us bbq from behind the counter (a down to earth approach you hardly ever see), and the welcoming quality of Kat's is only bolstered by the quality and quantity of the bbq plates. They keep it real here.

I had high hopes for Kats BBQ going based off of the reviews, the food was good but not the best. The Mac and cheese noodles where overcooked, and the cheese sauce was under seasoned. The BBQ beans where ok, but the slaw was great. I didn't really get a good Smokey taste in the brisket, pulled pork, or ribs. The meats where very tender and juicy. The BBQ sauce is delicious. One thing I was very pleased with was the portion of food they give on the kats plate. You can easily split it between 2 people which makes the big price worth it. The service was great. The guy at the register was very loud, energetic, and friendly. Seemed very passionate about his job which is awesome. There is indoor and outdoor seating. I went pretty close to opening so I didn't have any problems getting a table. The food was average but the overall experience was great.

My wife and I visited Kat's Barbecue on a recent trip to Texas and ordered the Kat's Plate since it basically had a bit of everything: Pulled Pork, Ribs, Brisket, Sausage, and Three Sides. What came out was a mountain of food that could have easily fed three to four people. My favorite part of the meal was the Ribs: tender, meaty, and fall off the bone but all the meats were delicious, tender and lightly smoky. We also had sides of crisp creamy coleslaw, savory gooey mac and cheese, and flavorful baked beans mixed with shreds of beef. Overall, Kat's serves good quality BBQ and is worth a visit.

Omg! Food was AMAZING!!! Hubs loved his prime rib and the chopped beef potato was awesome! I think it was about 3 meals. So much meat! The chicken was great too. We also got the bbq queso. It was ridiculously good!!!!! About made myself sick eating it! The only thing I was disappointed in was dessert. Got banana pudding and chocolate pie. They were just sort of meh.

So when I was looking for a place to eat somewhere on our trip home from Galveston, I knew this might be my best chance. I'd originally planned on just ordering a simple brisket sandwich, but as I looked at the menu, I felt like I wanted one of everything. I was really tempted to order a loaded baked potato, but because I'd be eating it in the car, I figured that might be a bit too messy, so I eventually went with Plan A. One bite into that thing and I knew I made the right decision. It was so juicy and so flavorful. Just the perfect lunch for what I was craving. And then to make this love story even better, later that day, I went to HEB. My HEB happens to have one of those BBQ restaurants inside of it, and it's never open when I visit because I always do my grocery shopping in the morning. But this particular visit was at about 4pm. And I opted to order the exact same thing: a brisket sandwich, so that I could compare the two. I'm sure this is not news to Smokin Z's or their fans, but this was the most lopsided competition I've experienced in a while. My visit to HEB only made me appreciate Smokin Z's more, as the HEB version tasted like something made by my 11 year old nephew. I'm embarrassed I even put the two head to head, as we're talking about a totally different weight class here.

My partner had the brisket sandwich with potato salad and a small helping of pickles and pickled red onions and I had the pulled pork tacos. My partner said the brisket sandwich was okay, but we both agreed that the potato salad was fantastic! The potato salad was way better than the one at Pappas Barbecue. The taste of the pulled pork tacos was great, but it was honestly too wet and made the flour tortillas too soggy and there was way too much coleslaw on top. I feel like if Killen's is going to serve pulled pork tacos there needs to be three things done. 1. Serve the tacos with an option of corn tortillas because I feel corn tortillas would've worked better to give a great contrast/pairing with the sweetness of the pulled pork and sauce. 2. Serve the corn/flour tortillas on the side so that they don't get soggy and wet. 3. There are some things that just don't belong on a taco of any kind and that's coleslaw. My partner and I also tasted the banana pudding and to say it was divine is an understatement. What I really like about this pudding was that you could taste real bananas in this pudding and it had been mixed well all together. Our total was $80 after tipping, which is a little pricey for some of the items, but honestly I would definitely come back to Killen's Barbecue when I was in the mood for barbecue.
