Not the best barbecue place I have been to, however it is still very good and filling! Food: I got the baked potato with brisket and it was delicious. The barbecue sauce was very good addition to this and the classic self serve side were of course a huge plus. The potato was so huge I definitely could not finish it, so I got left over which is the best. I also had the brownie for dessert which was extremely rich and good. Service and atmosphere: There is a little shop of to the side which is very Texas vibes. The workers were very kind and fast since this is a counter service place. The decor and atmosphere is exactly what you would expect from a Texas barbecue spot. I have also been to other Big Horn's that have local bands playing which is a really cool experience. Overall, good filling place to get some barbecue!

I love this place and the atmosphere! The staff is super nice and welcoming! The food is also amazing! Definitely coming back!

Because the brisket sandwich could not have hit the spot more…read more --- --- --- I've had Smokin Z's bookmarked for a long time, but even though I go to Friendswood a lot to visit family, this is still just a bit too much of a hike from there. So when I was looking for a place to eat somewhere on our trip home from Galveston, I knew this might be my best chance. I'd originally planned on just ordering a simple brisket sandwich, but as I looked at the menu, I felt like I wanted one of everything. I was really tempted to order a loaded baked potato, but because I'd be eating it in the car, I figured that might be a bit too messy, so I eventually went with Plan A. One bite into that thing and I knew I made the right decision. It was so juicy and so flavorful. Just the perfect lunch for what I was craving. And then to make this love story even better, later that day, I went to HEB. My HEB happens to have one of those BBQ restaurants inside of it, and it's never open when I visit because I always do my grocery shopping in the morning. But this particular visit was at about 4pm. And I opted to order the exact same thing: a brisket sandwich, so that I could compare the two. I'm sure this is not news to Smokin Z's or their fans, but this was the most lopsided competition I've experienced in a while. My visit to HEB only made me appreciate Smokin Z's more, as the HEB version tasted like something made by my 11 year old nephew. I'm embarrassed I even put the two head to head, as we're talking about a totally different weight class here.

Killen's never disappoints…read more Their beef ribs were just short of amazing. Juicy, succulent, tender. For a giant piece of meat on the bone, they worked wonders. You can ask to see the piece of rib before they cut it for you and they will happily oblige (patrons behind you might not be so thrilled with that move, but they'll live). Sides were excellent as were the mashed potatoes with white gravy on the side, green beans that were just tender enough, but also a bit crunchy. Perfect. They were seasoned with pork, so if that's not your thing, you might want to skip it. We also ordered their shareable onion rings, easily enough for three people that were huge, hot, and crispy. Let's get this out of the way, some of their prices are a little up there, but if you're anything like me, and don't frequent BBQ places often, it's a rare but enjoyable treat. Sometimes you have to splurge and live a little. Also, they have their regular sauce on tables, but you now have to ask the cashier for their sublime coffee BBQ sauce. Don't be shy, ask. It's worth it. Oh, pro tip: If you want beef ribs, the 'plate' is actually cheaper and a better deal than 'by the pound', so save a little money and get two sides.

The restaurant is cute and they do their best to keep the service consistent throughout the entire visit. The BBQ was a little dry but good. The disappointing part of the trip were the sides. 95% of the sides had pork in them which made the entire wait not worth it. This was my first time visiting and it will be my last.

When I walked in, the place was clean and the aroma of BBQ was smelling really good in the air. The decor was very nice and the owner was even nicer and very welcoming. I went in there only looking for ribs because I have found that a really good rib is hard to find, however, the ribs here were very tasty, a little pricey, but very good. I always say that I don't mind paying extra when the food is as good as the money spent for it. Now, let me tell you that I only purchased a pound of ribs and a quart of Mac and cheese and the M&C was also good. I believe that the young man helping behind the counter was the owner's son so that tells me that the business is family owned, can't go wrong with that. The other sides looked delicious as well but I was not really that hungry for other dishes. I will go back and try the other items on the menu at another time. Now that I know where it is, it will be easy peasy to get there again. Once again, I forgot to take a picture of the food but I will when I go back. Anyway, pull up on em at Luka's Barbecue & Steak and enjoy!

You know it is good when you can smell the wood burning from outside wafting in that tasty smell. I ordered the lean and it was moist and well cut. The bbq set it off the tastebuds as if I was having Brisket made by a family friend. No complaints and you can tell the wood was high-quality. Locking in all that great flavor! Highly recommend giving this place a taste.
