I went on another great bbq adventure to Red River last night (04/09/2026). I ordered the babyback ribs with baked beans and fried okra. The ribs were fall off the bone wonderful. Adding the bbq sauce made them amazing The beans and okra were good, just not outstanding. But that didn't change the review - if you haven't been here, then you're missing out. There was a crowd, but the staff rose to the occasion and everyone's order was taken quickly, and service was just as fast. We sat outside and enjoyed the cool weather. Something we can't always do in this part of Texas. If you want bbq and don't want the overpriced chain joints, be here. It's one of the best I've had in this area. read more

First time here and let me tell you as a gal from out of state, the deliciousness that hits you when you walk in is memorable! Inside has a plethora of booths and tables, as well as a banquet area for small and large parties alike. The hubster and I shared their two meat platter with a side of mashed potatoes and baked beans. It was plenty for us to share and beyond delicious! The staff is over the top friendly and we were asked frequently if we would like more, or refills. This was a chance place for us to experience and I am oh so glad we did. I was really looking forward to trying this place after seeing the reviews and photos on Yelp, but unfortunately my experience didn't live up to the hype. I ordered the two-meat plate with ribs, jalapeño cheese sausage, and sides of potato salad, broccoli & cheese rice casserole. The sides were actually very good--great flavor and generous portions--no complaints there. The mains, however, were a huge disappointment. For a $28 plate, I left feeling like I'd been ripped off. The ribs were thin, dry, and not juicy at all. The skin was so tough that I ended up giving the last two ribs to my dogs. The jalapeño cheese sausage had good flavor, but the casing was overcooked, hard, and dry, so I didn't finish that either. Another big letdown was the barbecue sauce. I paid extra for two additional sauces, and I wish I hadn't. The sauce was extremely sweet--so sweet that it didn't pair well with the barbecue at all. I know everyone has their own preferences when it comes to sauce, but this one lacked balance. I ended up using some leftover Rudy's sauce I had with me, and it honestly worked much better. I haven't left a bad review in a long time, and I'm disappointed because the restaurant looks great from the outside, the inside ambiance is nice, and the staff seemed friendly. Amazing experience visiting Red River BBQ for the first time the other day. We were greeted immediately by such friendly and knowledgeable staff. She helped us decide on our sides and even allowed us to try out the potato salad in a sample before committing to it. The Mac and cheese was so good! I got the moist brisket and it was very good as well, the bbq sauce is sweet and blends perfectly with the brisket. We will definitely be returning. I highly recommend stopping in to eat here! My mother in law loves this place. I've always had it from take out when she orders to go. Finally was able to try it out in person. My wife and I ordered the 3 meat combo and chicken fried steak. Food came out hot, fresh and delicious. We enjoyed every bite of it. Chicken fried steak was on point, batter to me was perfect! On 6-12-26 had Red river barbecue delivered to me for lunch. I guess they got to my place about 12:30 in the afternoon on a Friday. I've been using this place ever since they opened so you can see I'm kinda fond of this place especially since they catered my.wedding back when the Flintstones use to be my neighbors lol. Anyway order rib plate with potato salad and beans. Kevin and Jim, I'm gonna try and be kind here but why is it the only time I ever get dry meat and not talking about without barbecue sauce I'm talking about dry like it's been cooked for a while or sitting for a while is when I order delivery. I'm not saying every time but I'm no beginner either. I'm not gonna blast you on social media why I think Restaurant establishments might do this but I'm not happy obviously. I did not get $34 worth of a barbecue plate. Potato salad and beans were fine small portions, but they were fine so the majority of the money I spent was on dried out ribs. SMH. This place... truly is amazing!! One of the better bbq places! Super solid brisket, sausage, and pork ribs! They have really good hush puppies and go really well with their bbq sauce! Today is Thursday, my Mother's Birthday. We reserved a private room for a party of 20+ people for a buffet style lunch party. The food included: BBQ Chicken, Brisket, Mac and cheese, Mashed potatoes, Gravy, Veggies, and Bread. I have to say, their brisket was soooo good! I also have to give huge props to their staff! I came here for an event, so I can't speak to the true dining experience, but this will be mostly based on the food. Our event had the food served buffet-style. On the buffet for meats was brisket, chicken, sausage. Sides were green beans, mac & cheese, and beans. And of course the fixins: pickles, onions, jalapeños, barbecue sauce, and bread. The brisket was fairly dry. I have had much better brisket elsewhere, so this was a disappointment considering Red River is a League City staple. On the other hand, the chicken was moist. I appreciate the way they cut it, such that each piece did not have too much bone to pick through. The sausage was moist and flavorful as well. The mac & cheese was pretty plain. If I had to guess, it was pre-made because it tasted very standard. The green beans were also pretty plain with not a lot of seasoning. I will give them credit for using fresh green beans here instead of frozen or canned though. Service-wise, the two waitresses tending to us for the event were excellent. They came by regularly to check on us, bring us drinks, and clear out plates. One of them had a very loud voice, which was handy when it came to calling people's names for their drinks. This is probably one of the most reliable dining establishments I've ever had the pleasure to experience. Let's talk about the grill for a moment...whomever runs the ' Best Hamburger in Houston or Texas' award needs to try their hamburgers...grilled precisely as requested, moist, ample, dressed in about any manner conceivable they are truly a wonderful meal with either fries or onion rings both equally as good (although the onion rings could use a larger helping...or maybe it's because they are so good I just want more). Btw...Hamburgers are just one of their grill selections they also have chicken and of course chicken fried steak and then the crossover to Barbecue which is an incredible pulled pork sandwich (I think it's called the Memphis however I'm writing this review from memory...fantasy...hence don't remember the name however I clearly recollect the savory wonderfulness of this sandwich). Let me step away for a second and mention that every evening they run some kind of 'meal special' and as well have a very fresh and delicious salad bar which if you so chose could be an entree. It's a beer/ wine bar which is even more incredible given how busy it is at dinner time...I could go on about the barbecue and sides however quite honestly it's difficult for me to even get to these entrees as I normally focus on either the hamburgers or meal specials...I'll say this with great assurance...I've had a number of barbecue sandwiches and like the hamburgers and pork find them to be delectable. A brisket stuffed spud, a nice salad bar, very tasty Ranch dressing, good iced tea, and nice desserts. However I wanted the Friday ribeye special. I got the 16oz but 10oz would have been plenty. Seasoned well and cooked correctly it's definitely a do-over. Their fries and onion rings were great and salad bar is more than the basics. Hubby got a 3 meat plate and said pulled pork and theit bbq sauce was his favorite. Brother had the gumbo, just ok but presentation is lovely. We had the hush puppies which is really giant brisket balls dipped in cornmeal and fried. Tasty and a meal in and of themselves. I've been here a few times now and this place excels at service. The food is delicious and you get hearty portions. It's always clean and has a nice restroom. But again, the service is top notch. The cashiers get you started and then your server continues the great service when they come to the table. On this particular visit, Philip went out of his way to take good care of us and it's very obvious to me that he is someone who genuinely cares about this restaurant and even more for the folks who patronize it. My wife and I come over from Pearland every week to take her son to dinner and we go to RRBBQ every 2nd or 3rd trip because we know we will get really good food quickly at a great value. And in case I wasn't clear, the service is what elevates them in a way that makes it easy to continually choose to eat there. As someone who works in a customer service role at a company that has high expectations for how we care for OUR customers, it is so nice to then go somewhere and feel as well taken care of as I ensure my customers are every day. Nice facility, but the food and staff just aren't it. Honestly, if I wasn't dinning with friends, I would've left aftertaste interaction with the cashier. Moving along. I got the 2 meat combo plate with brisket and ribs. My sides included macaroni and cheese, fried okra, and banana pudding. And a tiki wheat on tap to wash it all down. The draft was probably the best part of my meal. The brisket was tough and dry. The ribs were dry, however, I can admit they were flavorful. We have tried this place twice now. The first time we got food poisoning and this time the food was just not good. The chicken was dry and brisket was more like a roast cooked in a crockpot. The corn on the cob had a really bad texture, but I do like mine crisp. We will go back to Rudy's next time as the food is just so much better. Ordered the pulled pork, assuming it would be smoked but was mixed in with barbecue sauce. It was ok but I'm not a fan of a lot of sauce in general so it wasn't what I had hoped for. The okra and potato salad were ok. But what kind of put me off was all the wait staff working that day. Between the two or three men working that area, we kept being interrupted every 4-5 minutes with one of them asking if we needed refills, to check the cook on the steak ( asked about this twice within the first couple minutes of getting the food), needing anything else...it was a lot, which I never thought of something being an issue but that's just how often it kept happening. read more
