Delicious food! Love coming here! Smells so great and the BBQ is great! Very clean and great service.

I just found out about this place and it is tucked away behind a Chevron gas station. I had to call the restaurant because I couldn't find it even while using my phone. When I walked in, the place was clean and the aroma of BBQ was smelling really good in the air. The decor was very nice and the owner was even nicer and very welcoming. I went in there only looking for ribs because I have found that a really good rib is hard to find, however, the ribs here were very tasty, a little pricey, but very good. I always say that I don't mind paying extra when the food is as good as the money spent for it. Now, let me tell you that I only purchased a pound of ribs and a quart of Mac and cheese and the M&C was also good. I believe that the young man helping behind the counter was the owner's son so that tells me that the business is family owned, can't go wrong with that. The other sides looked delicious as well but I was not really that hungry for other dishes. I will go back and try the other items on the menu at another time. Now that I know where it is, it will be easy peasy to get there again. Once again, I forgot to take a picture of the food but I will when I go back. Satisfying brisket dinner that you can enjoy in a laidback atmosphere. No frills, good homestyle BBQ is the name of the game here. Simple, well executed brisket, and very filling. You know it is good when you can smell the wood burning from outside wafting in that tasty smell. I ordered the lean and it was moist and well cut. The bbq set it off the tastebuds as if I was having Brisket made by a family friend. No complaints and you can tell the wood was high-quality. Locking in all that great flavor! **This review is based on a to-go order.** Reviewing barbecue joints is tough for me because I smoke my own in the same style as Roland Lindsey, a man that I knew -- the original pitmaster of Bodacious BBQ in NE Texas, and a regular in Texas Monthly's best barbecue joint listings. I prefer moist brisket (deckle or point) with a little fat, and these guys do that well with their chopped brisket sandwich. I would have preferred a little more smoke flavor, but that's certainly not a deal-breaker. -- The sausage sandwich here is average ... nothing that I couldn't get at a jillion other joints. The smoke was fine, but they could do better with their sourcing. It was fatty and somewhat bland. I cut (the fat) with some house dill pickles (really good) and some house BBQ sauce, which is also pretty good. My wife had a baked potato, which was fine. Not sure why she didn't order it loaded with brisket and all the trimmings, but oh well. The banana pudding here is nothing to write home about. Not bad, but nothing special. We took care of our own sides. Bottom line: I would certainly grab a brisket sandwich here again. I would not pay $12.49 for a sausage sandwich here. Not only is that price point way above the cost of sausage these days, the sausage is just not that great. read more

$35 for the Saturday steak and shrimp dinner You do get a good amount of food, even though some of it was underwhelming Steak: thinner than most restaurants, but cooked nicely at medium rare, and it seemed like a good cut of meat. Slightly over-seasoned for my taste Shrimp: surprisingly the best thing I got from this combo. 4 butterflied shrimp lightly fried. The seasoning was perfect, the shrimp was not rubbery, and it remained crispy despite being a to go order. Salad: didn't know it came with one, house salad was pretty mid. Wouldn't order it. It did come with an abnormal amount of dressing. Baked potato: actually a massive potato. Loaded with sour cream, cheese, green onions, and bacon pieces. Definitely didn't finish it. I feel like it's missing something, but it's good overall. Saved the worst for last Banana pudding flan: the most underwhelming dessert I've ever had. Upon opening the container, it seems like pudding topped with nilla wafers. After eating a few bites, it taste like store bought banana flavored jell-o pudding mixed with nilla wafers, which is not a bad taste at all- but not what I expected to get from their "home made dessert" section. After going to NASA, we made a special trip to Lukas' for a late lunch on a Sunday. The restaurant is located on the corner of a shopping center and has plenty of parking available and several designated spots for restaurant patrons. It was one of those days where I couldn't decide what I was in the mood for, so we opted to share the 4 meat plate with sides of potato salad and baked beans, buttered bread also included. Our meats were: sausage, chicken (drumstick, thigh), ribs, and brisket (lean and fatty pieces). I wish I had a picture of this beautiful plate, but we were too hungry! The meat came with BBQ sauce on top, but it was a perfect amount that added to the flavor and didn't drown it. We almost ordered a double order of brisket, but Lukas prompted us to try the ribs - they were my absolute favorite! The ribs and the fatty pieces of brisket, which came in almost bite sized pieces and almost tasted caramelized. For sides, both were good but I was partial to the potato salad; it was simple without a lot of fuss, but reminded me of my grandma's potato salad and wasn't served too cold which I appreciated. When we were finishing our meal, Lukas came over and we had a truly wonderful conversation with him about his food and thanked him for the tip on his ribs. He told us about his passion for his restaurant and a little about his family life. It was the kind of experience you look for at small, local businesses. I'm so happy we came to try Lukas today, the place is big and super clean. The staff is super friendly, and the owner is very kind. We tried the 3 meat combo, the turkey was super tender and somehow sweet, so good! The sausage was a little spicy and nice smoky flavor, the brisket was my favorite, very tender and flavorful! My review is based on the app called TOO GOOD TO GO! This app is based for restaurants or any business that sells all kind of products for products, food not to get thrown away. I was hoping i didn't get the mac n chz because the mac n chz was definitely dried out along with the baked beans. Anywho- the server did mentioned, he will let me slide and go a head and give me both my purchases in the joint. Once i got in my vehicle i saw the mac in chz on both plates. When i noticed the protein i noticed the slices of mean. Which i thought they were slices of sausages. When i decided to taste a piece it was actually, i guess chicken. I'm not sure what it was honestly. I couldn't tell what it was due to bbq sauce all over the meat. Both my purchases looks vvery dry and unsatisfying. We traveled from Metairie LA to Texas mid-May and came across the best BBQ right down the street from our hotel. It was an hour from closing, the food was still hot, and the owner was so nice. Today, a Monday, I stopped in to pick up a couple of chopped brisket sandwiches. Marvin, the owner was working. I requested 2 chopped brisket sandwiches to go with outside meat (bark) and they were excellent! I've eaten BBQ at most of the famous Texas BBQ restaurants, and there are many. But these sandwiches were exceptional. Big, moist meat, flavorful and absolutely delicious. I'd highly recommend his food. And more than that...he as a gracious man and his heart for his customers and their enjoyment is expressed in his love for sharing his food. I was disappointed because I have had a lot of Texas BBQ, but my family had not, so I wanted them to try it. I was going to take them to Pinkerton's, or another local Texas favorite, but we were just leaving the Houston Space Center and they were hungry. The food wasn't bad, it just wasn't Texas BBQ. Nice smoke ring. Bbq sauce served with Brisket was tasty. Vinegary, not tomato-y like Goode Co.(my fave). Mustard potato salad, good, but I love boiled eggs in my potato salad. Baked corn was the best side I got. They didn't have broccoli rice side, the was a first choice. Bread was warm slices of French bread with (not enough) melted butter. All in all, a solid 7.5...
