This was our first time trying this restaurant and it didn't start off good. We went up to the counter to order. As I usually do in a new place I asked the employee taking our order what they like. Now this was a first. The employee said "I don't know. I don't eat the food here." I'm not going to lie this comment almost made us turn around and walk out. He could of a least told us what was popular or a local favorite. But to say you don't eat at the place you work is a little odd. So we stayed and ordered anyway because I had heard it was a good place to eat. I ordered the two meat combo. Chopped Brisket and Ribs. For sides I got Mac n cheese and onion rings. My wife got the two meat combo as well. Chopped Brisket and Smoked Chicken with coleslaw and twice baked potatoes. The food was good and filled us up. My husband and I just visited bar b Que & southern comfort in Dickinson, the place is big, very traditional bbq place. Music is nice, and inviting. They have a great selection on the menu, we were very excited to try everything! We ordered brisket, smoked turkey and jalapeño sausage, we also ordered 3 sides: Mac n cheese, pinto beans and cucumber salad. Everything was really good, our favorites were the sausage and the turkey, the sausage is spicy, juicy and snappy, and the turkey is super tender and very flavorful. Sadly, this placed missed it for me. Don't get me wrong, the staff was very welcoming and nice upon arrival. It seemed odd when we came for dinner there was only one other table in there being used. It was my first time. I opted for the smoked turkey and pulled bbq with onion rings. I enjoyed the onion rings the most. The meat was lacking portion size for a dinner plate. The bbq was dry. I could not eat the bbq sauce. It tasted like sugared ketchup. The restaurant itself is cute and nostalgic looking. It was clean, just wish the food was better. I left a review on their business web page. It wasn't a good one! It was acknowledged by someone at the business. Stated they wouldt do it took to make it right. That would include another meal at the cost of $55 which is what I paid for two rib plates and two desserts. Unbelievable BBQ! You can tell they take pride in their food and hospitality. We came right when it opened and they greeted us warmly. We had never been there before as we were just passing through and they were so sweet to give us a sample plate of their meats. Omg, everything was delicious. They really put hard work into the food. It was just fall off the bone, tender, juicy meat. The mac n cheese- to die for. The potato salad- ugh I could eat a whole tub. Don't even get me started on the warmed BBQ sauce- are you kidding me? Why didn't I think of that? My family absolutely loved every dish that we ordered- there were no leftovers. I just ordered a two meat barbecue plate from Dickinson barbecue on my Favor app. The portions were smaller than I expected. I thought I was getting sausage and brisket, but I got brisket and pulled pork. I poured the container of what I thought was barbecue sauce over the meat, but it turned out to be some kind of gravy. Completely ruined the flavor. I'm very disappointed. I think I will order from Spring Creek BBQ next time. read more

My wife and our close friends are currently visiting from Northern California and found this place! What a gem! The service and hospitality was top notch and the food! Oh my gravy! The food was amazing! I enjoyed brisket, sausage, collard greens and dirty rice. 10 outta 10. The price was very reasonable too! My only regret was I didn't save room for dessert. It's been the longest cold snap of our short winter and hubby was craving a bowl of chili. We checked online and the menu said they have it seasonally so we took a chance and drove out. The chili was amazing! The new recipe with the smoked ground beef really made a difference and set it apart from other chili. I decided to splurge and order the tenderloin medallions, and those are melt in your mouth tender and seasoned to perfection. The steak butter that comes with it is to die for. The portion was perfect for me. For my sides I ordered the famous mac n cheese and mashed potatoes with brown gravy and everything was perfect. We ended up getting three pieces of cake to go. The carrot cake, Italian cream, and chocolate were all delicious. This was our second time eating in and I just love the decor. I never get tired of looking around at the Knick knacks they have everywhere. Every person who has helped us has been absolutely delightful. I think we've found our go to BBQ place. First time here and the standout is definitely the employees!! Everyone is so friendly and helpful, manager did a table touch and several said goodbye. Just stellar. Place is clean and well laid out, standard Texas Bbq decor. I ordered the 3 meat plate with turkey jalapeño sausage and ribs. All were good but I liked the sausage the best - great balance of heat and flavor. Turkey was very moist and ribs were flavorful. Brother had brisket which he thought was a bit dry but loved the turkey. Coleslaw was good as was bbq sauce (reg not mild). Twice baked potato was like a warm potato salad which I wasn't crazy about. Brother had beans and said they were great. He didnt care for the creole corn tho. We've always ordered to go/drive thru but was finally able to go inside to pick up my party pack order. The inside was super clean and everyone was friendly. Like I said I've always ordered everything to go and never had issues- from their burgers, chicken fried steak, Mac and cheese and brisket. My hubby just celebrated a milestone bday and wanted to invite a few friends over so I thought a value pack from here was a great idea. I chose #6 which was supposed to serve 17-20 people. It came with: 8 1/2 Lbs. Meat (2 choices) 1 Gallon Potato Salad 1 Gallon Beans (baked or pinto) 1/2 Gallon Cole slaw I chose brisket and smoked turkey breast for my meats and was told I can make changes to the side. So I chose Mac n cheese- so creamy and deliciously cheesy! The potato salad I orders had a nice tang to it, baked beans had a nice flavor, the fixings that came- bbq sauce, jalapeños, pickles, onions, loaf of bread were plenty. I also orders some jalapeno bread loaf- try it with the smoked turkey breast- sooo good!! The meats were both cooked perfectly! I forgot to take pictures of all the food but everything was ready at my requested time pick up and the generous portion of food was neatly packed and piping hot. Came here a day ago with an out of town friend so they could enjoy local flavor. I tried the chicken and dumplings but have to say they need to go back to the drawing board on that one. I have an extremely sensitive palette and can taste it when meat was defrosted, frozen, defrosted, cooked and then used a day or 2 later. it makes me nauseous to think about it. This is not the only restaurant that is guilty of doing this. That being said, the sliced BBQ brisket was very tasty as were the boudin balls. I'll definitely bring going back for those. Service was excellent, everyone there is very friendly. Very family friendly, plenty of seating, several different varieties of bottle beer available, good iced tea, and tasty banana pudding. I see the giant pickle man in the distance, then a thud of a big footstep. I hide in the bathroom and make a plan. My car is the parking lot which the pickle man is in. Then i see the utility closet, I look inside for anything I can use. A old broom is like a diamond in the rough to me. I grab it, head outside and hit the pickle thing in the balls. Wanted a good cheeseburger, saw a photo of a burger on their facebook page and thought yes, let me try a good cheeseburger! Was I wrong.. the disappointment is real. Bun is way to thick, burger patty is straight up frozen and had zero flavor. My fiancé tried the lean slice beef sandwich, he said it was good. We did go through the drive through, the staff was polite and friendly. I don't recommend their burgers, unless frozen patties are what you prefer. read more

Well I want to love this place , just moved very close ,truly not much around if you're wanting to pick up . Have now eating at Dickinson BBQ three times . Brisket was good but little on the dry side for me . Kinda like it was a reheat . Potato salad was outstanding !!! BBQ sauce was little bland for me . Have know had the burger twice and will say it's better then the spot down the street , still missing something ,the Pattie was nice and moist just not enough flavor . Had to add salt and pepper , not as great as Tookies but not horrible . For spending around $44 bucks for two burgers and fries .. would like a little more flavor . The fries and tater Tots were on point, very crisp and seasoned well.. service has always been good ! As a matter of fact , first time to go in side and was very pleased on how clean and neat the place was . I got home the wife asked if it had salad bar .. wasn't sure I was the only one in there .Going to keep trying until I figure out what fits me . Nighbor said the loaf of meat was outstanding . Next time will have to give it a shot .!! Been a rudy's BBQ guy for a while and often would hit Red River up in League City . When dinner time arrived with no plans, I saved the evening for our group by recommending Dickinson BBQ. The meal was everything a bbq should be. Everything was good and it came out pretty quick. The only down falls I thought were that the salad bar was lacking opinions such as cheese. They had a limit selection of vegetables to choose from to add to the salad. The other was one that they only had one opinion for bbq sauce. I'm not much of a tomato base bbq gal but it was okay. This may be a SC thing where we have multiple sauces such as a mustard, vinegar, or tomato base sauce to choose from usually but the mustard is always the better way to go. A bar with a selection of iced down beer for $2.50 greets patrons at 11:00 am when we stopped for lunch. You order at a counter up front. We were new so the server took time to explain the vast menu and specials. She was very friendly. There was a daily fried chicken special complete meal but we chose pulled pork sandwiches $6.50 with a salad bar side $1.99. Our sandwiches came out very quickly with generous portions of juicy pork. A selection of barbecue sauce was served warm. Choices were sweet and spicy. We chose the spicy. There were also pickles and jalapeños for the sandwiches. The sandwiches were very good. The salad bar was pretty basic with mixed greens, cukes, maters, olives, sunflowers seeds, and more. Everything was fresh and hit the spot after a week of fried foods. What a deal for $1.99! The staff were friendly as were the customers. Restrooms were clean. I recommend a visit. read more

It's the day before Memorial Day. A hankering for Que hit me, and that was how I found myself working on the eatery's two-meat combo platter. I'm so glad I followed my empty gut. Otherwise, I wouldn't have eaten pork ribs that are sweet, juicy, and tender. They were so great on my taste buds that I didn't even think about getting sauce. An ample serving of moist brisket accompanied the ribs. I really appreciate how they acquiesced my request for the fat to remain. Regarding the side dishes, the onion rings were pretty solid -- crunchy and not all that greasy. The mac and cheese was hot and creamy, Southern comfort food at its best. I originally intended to give this place a four-star rating but bumped it up to five because they are selling "SF Strong" stickers to benefit the victims of the recent mass shooting at the high school. Best side I've had in Texas. Sooo good!! And the boudin!! Cajun done right!! Whatever voo-doo shit they got going on in this kitchen is well worth whatever hex I may now have following me. The Day was Beautiful! I ordered a Cheeseburger with bacon and pepper jack cheese. First thing I should have remembered that I maybe should've ordered a BBQ sandwich.... Because I didn't really get a cheeseburger but an attempt at something like a cheeseburger. The bacon was crispy frittered. Yuk !The lettuce covered up a patty that looked like a hockey puck and was so dry it was unfit to eat . I mean it was smaller than a kids meal burger from other places. I also tried the potato salad. It was edible but I wouldn't eat it again. The other thing that upset my dining experience was the price . The cost was way out there from what should have been the price! That was the last time I will eat at this establishment. I have eaten here before so I guess something has happened to the place to warrant such high prices for food quality and quantity... Dickinson BBQ is always good solid BBQ. This is my go to BBQ restaurant. I especially love their sides...every one of them is great.

We walked in and got greeted immediately - I'm a 10 feet or 10 seconds and they yelled from 50 feet away "Welcome how are you". We walked up and a nice younger girl asked if it was our first time... Since it was she said here are the menus, let me grab you a sampler so you can try it! We found a seat and waited for the sampler! It was great, my wife went with the three meat combo - More than enough to share! I decided on the two meat combo! The place wasn't to busy, take out customers and a few eating in! Overall the service and price was great. We shared - Brisket, Turkey, Pulled Pork, Sausage, and Jalapeño Sausage for the meat! Sides we went with were beans, potato salad and fries - I substituted salad bar for an up charge of $1.99! Nothing fancy at the salad bar, but fresh and we liked they give you chilled salad bowls.. I went twice! Overall cool place, with open seating and very clean! We liked overlooking the open kitchen - This allowed me to see that they make a lot of sides right to order. The onion rings another customer ordered looked great! Seeing one of the cooks hand batter them one by one not just dumped in got me asking questions!! He was great and said they do this with almost everything - Chicken Fried Steak is done one by one to order! We are coming back to try it on Monday - It's their special of the day! Was in the area so I thought I'd support local. I ordered moist brisket but they were out for the day so I settled for lean brisket. And boy did I settle; I should have chosen a different protein altogether. They seem to think lean and dry are synonymous. The brisket was dried out and lacked flavor, but I could definitely taste the smokiness around the rim so I know these folks must know what they're doing- maybe those that order at dinner time get what's been picked over from the day. I also had twice baked potatoes which were average and a really good cucumber salad. The thing that got an extra star added to this review was the strawberry cake-best I've had in a long time.
