This weekday evening, I ordered the Pork Katsu with the Omelet Rice, whereas I have previously ordered the chicken katsudan omelette platter. They have increased the price by a dollar to $18.99 since the last time I reviewed Roll'n Katsu. My order was prepared within ten minutes or so. The crispy breaded and fried pork cutlet sits atop the omelet and rice below. On the side, you receive a small cup of miso soup with green onions and tofu, as well as a very small salad comprised of shredded cabbage with sliced sweet yellow daikon dressed with something similar to Thousand Island. It's all very satisfying with freshness and crispy textures playing with the Omelet and rice, while the slightly sweet sauce draped over the whole meal plays with the savory. Your total after taxes will approach $21 and you'll be satisfied. 3.7 stars!

The spicy salmon didn't really have a lot of salmon in it, but the rice was flavorful as was the shrimp tempura. What was odd about the shrimp tempura was that there was avocado in it. I don't mind it, but I do wish that ingredient was listed somewhere. Worth coming back to try other things and perhaps when it is the lunch rush where it seems you can order things fresh.

By comparison to the other location, this one is much livelier and feels much more like an izakaya, rather than a ramen-ya, with a bigger influence on drinks and appetizers. I am not sure if this is the reason why the ramen was a bit worse, but I would go back here for their happy hour specials, as the rest of the food was good, outside of the ramen. The staff was nice and patient throughout. In terms of drinks, there were many, with me personally having a chu-hi and a glass of house sake. Special notes to said sake, which wasn't the typical Ozeki/Sho Chiku Bai/Gekkeikan, but rather a better one. I think it might have been Suigei Tokubetsu Junmai, but I am not positive. The chu-hi was also tasty. The small plates were mixed, ranging from everything on the happy hour menu to a few others. There was a particularly tasty Kara-age/fried chicken, which was very decently priced at $5, with the Gyoza/Dumplings being good also. Someone else liked the takoyaki/octopus balls, and others enjoyed the kimchi, edamame, and pork sausage. From non-happy hour, people had the takoyaki, the kawa gyoza, and the butter corn. In terms of ramen, I had the "Black" style for $17, consisting of a rich black garlic pork bone broth topped with onions, scallions, bok choy, a marinated egg, and two pieces of pork chashu. I found the broth blander than the other spot, with it also not being super hot, which might be why the noodles were a bit gummy. The pork was alright, though it lacked a bit of texture. The best part, as mentioned by another reviewer, was the nicely cooked ramen egg. Another person stuck with the standard $14 "white" version, which he thought was ok. If the ramen was anything similar to their original location, I would give them a five, as there is a very decent happy hour here. You can still make do, but I wouldn't go for their ramen.

They serve all kinds of influences of Asian food, but mainly Taiwanese foods. They have baos, rice bowls, side dishes like sesame noodles, and other noodle bowls. The popcorn chicken comes with chopped kale, corn, cabbage, and crispy shallots. The popcorn chicken is cooked right, reasonable portion size, and flavorful. I've been here several times for this. If you ever feel like it may be out of your budget, you can always use MealPal.
