My partner and I stopped by for a quick bite before catching a Broadway show. When you first walk in, the ordering process isn't the most intuitive/noticeable, but the staff members will quickly & nicely point out that you mark whatever you want to order on a dry-erase card. I do like how you order on the menus and then hand them to the workers but most markers were not working so it was hard to find one that was able to write. Thought I'd reviewed Red Poke more recently though looks like my last one was waaaay long ago! Have ordered takeout many times since then, they're still a go-to for a fast, healthy meal--protein, veggies, they got you covered. The YSL bowl and Creamy Wasabi are two of my favorites, and I really like their shrimp and grilled tofu options, and the japchae clear noodles that you can choose as a base. However as of late their poke bowls feel a little haphazard in quality--the menu is pretty consistent over the years but the past couple times I've ordered the ingredients look kinda thrown together and with a bit less protein and toppings than they used to give. The quality of the salmon and tuna pieces feels a little different than what they used to use to be too. Or maybe they need to look into how they manage the prep bc while the food still tastes fresh, the pieces of fish look less evenly diced, and something just feels different. Inflation and tariffs are real and costs of everything are going up, so on one hand this isn't surprising though on the other hand I'm def missing the days when this wasn't the case. I'm glad they're around and plan to continue ordering from them, though hope to see some improvements. read more

Service has never taken more than about 10 minutes for me, a huge upside when you're hungry and looking for a full bowl of meat and rice. The ambiance is nice and modern- you use a erasable board to place your order, and there are a lot of options. There's also a water cooler inside that's usually infused with something nice. Taste isn't outstanding, but delicious and fresh. Their poke bowls pack in fresh fish and a variety of veggies, so each bite is full of flavor. If you're not into raw fish, they also serve Korean meat options like galbi, although I prefer the poke. Will definitely come back to try more combinations. read more

I like the way the line works as you mark off a piece of whiteboard paper menu on the ingredients you want and they build it for you immediately afterwards. The poke was also reasonably priced especially for the amount they give you and the fact that it's in New York. I ordered a Salmon & Tuna bowl with every possible ingredient ever and it was delicious. I've never had glass noodles in poke before but I think this was such a great move as the noodles soaked up all the delicious ponzu sauce. I did wish they gave more salmon and tuna as I felt like the bowl was mainly the other toppings rather than the fish. I came here last night for dinner and I have to say that this was probably the worst poke bowl that I have had in NYC. I'll give credit to the staff who were fast with handing us our order and the concept of jotting down what you would like to order on an erasable board. The salmon I got was clearly not that fresh and had an interesting chewy texture to it. Seemed almost as if the salmon was ripping apart. The other ingredients were fine, but they added so much green onion to the bowl that I couldn't really taste anything else. The ambiance was alright with a good amount of seating and free water. My pokebowl came out so beautiful and colorful, but once I took a bite I knew I messed up. Pleasantly surprised by this poke joint! I have this bad connotation that anything uptown is overpriced and leaves me to be dubious in its quality. But Red Poke got me second guessing. They have these dry erase boards for you to order on. I LOVE this feature, because it defeats the whole pressure of picking what you want on the spot, as you're forced to keep moving forward. I did a Create Your Own Medium Bowl ($12.85), with Mixed Greens and Sushi Rice. They only had Red Tuna and Salmon for their raw fish options, but due to the Korean influence, they offer other protein options like Bulgogi and Spicy Pork. I got their Red Tuna and Salmon, and they give fatty fresh chunks here! Their Red Onion, Seaweed, and Crunchy Garlic all make for an excellent blend. Their sauces all honestly sounded so enticing, but I ended up going with the Kimchi Aioli and I just trust anything aioli is amazing now. There was a slight spice to it, but nothing crazy. And all of their ingredients are delicious. You can build your own poke bowl for around $13 (which is what I did) and there is a lot of customization that you can do. To make things easy, you can order by marking down on an erasable menu with the markers they provide and just hand that to them to create your bowl. I got my bowl with a cold japchae noodle base, raw ahi tuna, grilled bulgogi beef, seaweed, a bunch of other veggies/crunch added in, and sesame aioli sauce. The japchae noodles were really tasty and went well with the creamy sesame aioli sauce, the ahi tuna tasted fresh, and there was lots of yummy bulgogi beef. The staff are friendly and the service speed is quick. The interior is clean with some typical poke place decor and some complementary water while you await your order. This has been my go to spot for poke bowls until this order. I normally ordered right on the spot and picked the medium bowl with two proteins and were able to pick up my order within 10 minutes or so. Today I decided to order online- bad decision I made. So when I selected the medium bowl as usual, I am allowed to choose two protein. I selected tuna and salmon, and as I scrolled down the page while I was ordering the toppings, I saw the option of adding the truffle scallops. I added the scallops because last time when I ordered at the restaurant I had the same thing. But then at the end when I had my poke bowl, i immediately noticed that my poke bowl had NO salmon at all! I didn't realized the scallop that I added to the bowl was considered as the second protein, because the scallops cost an additional two dollars! I was under the impression that bc of this additional two dollars, scallops is considered a "add on" , just like the additional protein we added at the end of the order. This is VERY misleading- and so I wasn't expecting my poke bowl didn't come with the salmon. Plus,y poke bowl had absolutely no sauce AT ALL!
