    Pork Loin Katsu
    Ben L.

Came in for dinner tonight. Hostess was very attentive, they have cool decor and the restroom is very cool as well. Got the pork Katsu dinner which was delicious. A good portion of meat, crunchy on the outside and well cooked on the inside, delicious dressing, nice little bowl of miso, pickled radishes and kimchi was served on the side to cleanse the palate. Definitely would recommend to try it out.

It was very disappointing.10 years ago it wasn't like this. I came back because of the good memories that I had but the food has changed so much (for worse) Katsu is not crunchy. Fishcake in tteokboki tasted old. I should've listened to the other yelpers. But the service was quick and the ambiance is cozy for the small group gathering. Honestly, won't be back.

My friend and I were just walking around when we stumbled upon Hanamichi NYC and decided to give it a try for dinner--and we're so glad we did! We ordered the pork loin katsu and it was seriously delicious. The meat was tender, the breading was perfectly crispy, and everything was super flavorful. The vibe inside was cozy and welcoming, and the staff was really friendly.

The only Japanese restaurant in Korea Town NYC I believe! Honestly, of all Japanese restaurants I've been to, this is the only place I always come back because they serve Food fresh and Ramen is tasty The server is pleasant and friendly. The restaurant has cute Japanese interior designs and vibes, clean area and clean restroom too.

Food (3/5): The food here was a bit expensive for the quality but the portions were quite good. We got the Okonomoyaki, kimono roll, and cheese chicken. The sushi was cut quite large making it difficult to get the full flavor. Also the Okonomoyaki and chicken was a bit bland. However, they were still overall pretty decent. Venue (4/5): Nicely decorated venue with Izakaya vibes. Spacious seating areas, but the only problem was that booths were separated just by a tarp. This means if you lean back you would fall through to the other party. Service (4/5): The servers were friendly and helpful when asked but they didn't check up frequently and were missing for a bit during our meal. The place was relatively empty at the time.

Order: - Katsu Don + Mini Udon (3/5) - Gyudon + Mini Curry Udon (3/5) Pros: - Large portions - Can choose between Korean or Japanese cuisine - They have different specials/combo meals you can choose from Cons: - Expensive - Too many options to choose from - I felt like the menu was too large and should be condensed a bit Overall: It's alright tasting food that is seriously way to expensive than it should be

Maybe almost midnight was not the best time to come here and it sure showed. Amongst all the spots on this stretch looking for some late night eats we rolled in here as it had its little "A" rating, and not too crowded - which as another review mentioned was a bad sign. First off the menus were all taped up and kind of hard to read. Nothing offered sounded interesting which is a hard thing to do for me, so I fell back on my usual sushi roll. I got a yellowtail roll and a huge bowl of kimchi rice was shared. None of it was looked or tasted good. The yellowtail just did not taste fresh and even though I was hungry I pressed on eating hoping I wouldn't be sick in the morning. The rice was nothing special it had a slight flavor but overall just bland. Being in the heart of it all in 'K-town' NYC of course this means higher than usual prices when that's coupled with bad food, that does not sit well with me. If I find myself this way again, I'll be sure to skip. You probably can do much better on this block.

    Sashimi over Rice Lunch Special

Came here for their $15 lunch special. Sat indoors and I got the chirashi + soba combo and my partner got the katsu don + udon combo. Such a good deal! Was seated promptly upon entry and given a choice of hot tea or ice water. We chose hot tea given it was a chilly day and it was served piping hot which was perfect. Chirashi: They have plenty of sashimi, which was great. The dish would have been better with fewer vegetables as I felt it overwhelmed the sashimi flavor and there was not enough rice. Soba: I got cold soba. This was pretty standard tasting and had a great soup base. Katsu don: Best dish out of all that we got. Dish had plenty of egg and was so nice and warm. Sauce mixed with the rice was a perfect combo. Udon: Soup flavoring was a bit off -- too fishy? Didn't really like this dish. The ideal combo would be a katsu don + soba. Would recommend this spot for a good lunch special and they give you a lot of food. My partner and I were both stuffed after this meal.

Our first time coming here, wasn't sure what to expect and we loved it! Customer service is amazing, super friendly and comfortable spot. The food was just as good as it looked. Chicken katsu, manhattan rolls, and the fried squid, 10/10!

Good ambience, a little quiet but the decorations were nice! As for the food, we ordered the sashimi + udon lunch special (udon instead of minisoba for no extra charge) and the seafood ramen. The food looks super nice and the portions are quite big, but I do think the quality could be better. The ramen noodles felt like they were from an instant pack, although the amount of seafood was generous, and the same thing with the quality could be said about the sashimi. Overall, I had a nice experience but think the food could be higher quality for the price.

They changed their name from Haru Hana to HanaMichi. Came here last Friday 1/29 for lunch after some grocery shopping at HMart. Their large sign of lunch special caught my eye. I was seated inside a tent (outdoor dining) with a small heater. There are 2 other tables there with barrier in the tent. There was a table space next to me for my grocery tote bags (nice!) I was given hot tea & hand sanitzer while I was deciding what I wanted. Prices are high but standard for midtown Koreatown prices. I would suggest they give the tea after taking order because by the time they left with my order & after I recieved the meal & I was finally ready to remove my face mask; the tea gotten cold (was lukewarm). They can always notify each customer that it would come after they take order so it would stay hot or have a teapot warmer on each table. I normally do not remove my mask until I'm ready to eat (meaning after food arrive). I ordered the lunch set Gyudon + Curry Udon set. It is beef with egg (tiny amount of eggs) in special sauce over rice + curry sauce soupy udon noodle soup (with corn, peas and carrots). I found the curry to be too thin, bland and watery. The vegetables were odd; something seen in fried rice but I actually enjoyed the peas. I enjoyed the gyudon beef rice bowl the best as it was more flavorful. Yum.

Here's a clue: If a restaurant in a prime space on the main drag in Korea Town is near empty at 8:30 p.m. on a Saturday night, RUN! There's a reason for it. In our defense, the hubby had just gotten off from working a 12 hour shift, was still recuperating from hurting his back, it was cold and we really just wanted to grab a quick bite and hop on the train home. Plus, in our defense (which there really is none for having come here) is that we had been here once before, about a year and a half a go, and we remember it being not as bad. Then again, it was very late when we had been, after being out for hours helping the homeless and wanted a bowl of ramen. The hostess/waitress/server a/k/a disinterested individual who likes to stand at the front and watch videos and Koren TV while pretending she's alone on a desolate island where none of us exist ... sat us (there were only three other tables seated, all of which had their food and were settled) and then went back to her perch for 10 or 15 minutes, until we had to flag her over to take our order. She then returned to standing at the front, and we never saw her again until we flagged her to bring the check. The busser/back waiter was AWESOME! He pretty much did EVERYTHING that she should have been doing, which is why we tipped him separately since she didn't deserve a single penny at all. Though I've never stiffed and didn't. But, knowing he'd likely see none of that and he deserved all of it. The food wasn't bad. Jayson had the pork and vegetable ramen. He enjoyed it I had the chicken and egg don, over rice with their "special sauce," whatever that is ... and it was basically Korean fried chicken with egg over rice. As my girl Tay would say, we are never getting back together.

    Crab on Fire Roll

This is a nice place. However, the servers were not very pleasant. It's also a little more pricey than expected. The menu was laminated booklets that was so worn. I feel if I'm spending a moderate amount of money, more effort should go into little things like this. When we walked in all of our party weren't there yet because one was parking... how they treated us after the seated our partial party was as if we weren't-- No welcome, no water, no nothing. We had to call the lady over for water and while we were there we were considering to order an appetizer, but I guess we were taking too long for her... she walked away without a word. Then the water was brought from the back by another random server who couldn't take orders. My 3 stars is basically that many because the food was actually good.

The effortless tranquility encourages you to slow down, enjoy the food, and get away from the everyday, hubbub. Their menu leans into fusion dishes with a nod to some of the classic home-style classics. Everything is presented with a refined, elevated touch. Here's what we ordered: ~ Tako Wasabi - 5/5 stars A fiery delight. This appetizer feartures chopped raw octopus marinated in wasabi. It has a lively zest from the wasabi and is topped with tobiko, which adds a pleasant contrast in texture. ~ Honey Makgeolli - 4/5 stars A traditional fermented Korean beverage that is light and pairs brilliantly with your meal. It is a cloudy alcholoic drink served in a metal teapot, and surprisingly, there is much more in that teapot than you would expect. It easily provides six to eight generous pours. The flavor is subtly sweet with a pleasant tang. ~ Temaki Set - 4/5 stars You can order a set of three by choosing from selections 1-17, or you can order a la carte at the listed prices. Some of the temaki stood out more than others. Our two sets included marinated salmon, bluefin tuna, spicy yellowtail, spicy bluefin, and two dynamite temaki. ~ Spicky Pork Ssam Set - 5/5 stars Truly another standout entree that even surpassed my beloved grilled BBQ bossam. You received a generous basket of assorte greens, including romaine, kale, perilla leaves, dandelion leaves, nappa cabbage, and more. It is well worth the price and makes for a fun, interactive dining experience with your family and friends. There is also various banchan offered and this time, they were beyond kind enough to offer refills. The last time we were here, we ordered just as much food and they stated they normally did not offer refills, which I thought was very odd. With its casual bougie aesthetics, this spot has quickly become one of my favorite eateries in Fort Lee-lee, It beautifully blends Korean, Japanese, and American flavors in a way that feels both comforting and elevated. Needless to say, we will be back!

We got the large beef combination platter which comes with ribeye, thin skirt, brisket, marinated kalbi, and marinated chuck flap. Most people stuck with water, while a couple got ginger ale. I ordered the soju flight but I ended up not liking it so my cousins shared it. The meal comes with different veggies as well as your choice of soup. We got the spicy tofu and split it 6 ways. The spice lived up to its name, so I didn't eat very much. The best part was meat. Despite there being 6 of us, there was plenty to go around. I think you have the option to cook it yourself or have them cook it for you and we chose the latter. While I enjoyed it, I wish there was more space. Most of the space was taken up by the accompaniments that come with it (veggies, etc), so there was hardly any room to put anything else. It didn't help that none of our dishes were cleared once we finished them and that no rice is included. Aside from that, both the food and service were great.

The moment we sat down, we were welcomed with a beautiful spread of Korean appetizers -- a full Banchan assortment that set the tone for the rest of the meal. Every small dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, giving us a perfect introduction to the restaurant's attention to detail. We ordered the shrimp and chive pancake, which arrived crisp on the outside and tender inside, and the japchae -- easily one of the best versions we've ever had. The noodles were perfectly cooked, glossy, and packed with vegetables and savory depth. For the main course, we enjoyed an assortment of premium beef cuts: * Skirt steak * Ribeye steak * Deboned short ribs Each cut was incredibly marbled, fresh, and full of flavor. A huge part of what made the meal exceptional was our server, Caleb. He was attentive, warm, and knowledgeable -- the kind of service that elevates the entire dining experience. He cooked every cut of meat for us with precision, explained each dish in detail, and made sure we enjoyed everything at its absolute best. The meal also included a comforting soybean paste stew served with rice -- rich, savory, and the perfect complement to the grilled meats. But there's no denying that BCD has upped their soondubu game considerably in the last decade+ with a thicker, more deeply flavored broth, and now easily rivals my longtime favorite and gold standard, the OG So Kong Dong in Fort Lee. Then I stumbled into a hack that changed my view: lunch! I ducked in for a late lunch on a whim while walking by one day, and this turned out to be a much chiller hour, unhurried and no reservation needed. I was promptly seated, my order taken, and the banchan swiftly laid out. The banchan spread is solid across the board (the little fried fish does nothing for me, but seems to be a highlight for everyone else). I especially love the kimchi, near-perfect IMO, and the pickled cucumber. There's a modest lunch discount, which is a nice bonus for someone who likes to order aggressively. I usually get an oyster, seafood, or assorted soondubu (with a raw egg cracked in), danger spicy of course! Or go the C1 combo route with a galbi (marinated bbq beef short ribs) + smaller soondubu. It's an enormous amount of food, so I take most of the galbi home and feel no shame about it. The galbi, by the way, has also gotten noticeably better over the years - meatier, tender, and the flavor is on point. I've also enjoyed their bibimbap, bulgogi, jap chae, and seafood pancake. Finally, let's talk heat - this chili-head loooves fire! And BCD's danger level is one of the rare instances where the spice level actually meets my punishing tolerance for heat, not some pretense at "American spicy.," despite this being a chain. Their danger level actually means business and brings tears to my eyes, literally. It's still not my favorite place ambience wise, and dinner remains a contact sport I've mostly opted out of, as gone are the days that I can tolerate a culinary mosh pit, and any wait longer than 10 minutes (and only for a superlative place) will trigger an automatic ejection of my presence. But for lunch? Unexpectedly great. 4 stars for dinner, 5 for lunch.

Experience was great. Service was great and attentive…read more I really liked how the chairs doubled as storage for our bags and jackets so that they would not absorb the smell of bbq. I went with my sister and my daughter. We ordered the beef combo for 2 and a seafood pancake. The portion was just right. The quality of the beef was pretty good and was cooked to perfection (I requested for medium-rare). My sister had her portion cooked to well done since she is currently pregnant and didnt want to risk having any problems (not everything ended up being well done though). I personally prefer the pancake from elsewhere but it was not bad. My picky daughter really liked it. The combo came with a steam egg and boy was that good. Our meal ended with a yummy ice cream for each of us. This meal however made a pretty big dent in my wallet. It was my fault for not checking the menu before heading in. I didnt want to walk any further with my toddler and my pregnant sister since it started raining outside.

Good portion sizes for the 2-person shared BBQ lunch- be it Bulgolgi beef, stewed soup, or Banchan…read morewith 6 varieties of small dishes. Soup and Banchan both receive high marks for how good they taste. Also ordered a separate beef short rib lunch special, the rib was cooked to perfection and the sauce applied was very flavorful. Servers were friendly and mostly attentative, restaurant decors and cleanliness of interiors and bathrooms were quite good. Would come back again next time in the Herald Square area.
