Located in a shopping center with plenty of parking. Our boba at 100% was very sweet. I got the taro brown sugar milk tea with regular and small boba. It was so sweet that I had to add more milk to make it more mild. We thoroughly enjoyed the matcha at 50% sweet. The texture of the boba was mushy instead of chewy, it may have been overcooked. It has been two months that I revisited and many things has changed, in a good way. They put couple tables with chairs, start serving Bungeo-ppang and the Samurais moved behind the Kiosks. The big LED screen wasn't operating so I thought that was a bummer since it was such an awesome display. On the other hand, the service and the quality of the drinks remained the same, which is most important. I just love the large selections of their drinks. This is a quick one. Nice samurai theme inside. As far as service, I was dumb and didn't know everything was self service on the iPads out front. So I stood there for a bit looking at the staff thinking they were ignoring me. Don't do what I did. I got the strawberry Yakult with boba. Very creamy tart drink and I drank it within 20 minutes... which is good considering I had a full belly. Every sip painfully expanded my stomach but I could not resist. For that reason, I tried to get a drink from every category so I could sample a little bit of everything. Avocado Zen: They put a whole avocado in here! This made the drink super creamy and I asked for it to be 25% sweet so most of the sweetness came from the strawberry puree which I didn't know worked as such a good combo with avocado. House Taro: When a boba shop uses real taro paste and not powder, you know it's the real deal. Mix the taro and milk together to get the perfect creamy, nutty sip. Aichi Milk Tea: I love the quality of the matcha they use. I'm not sure if it was ceremonial but the powder itself was very vibrant and strong. I find it hard to find good matcha drinks but they're not lying when they call it premium. Cookie Creme Sugar: I got this for my brother and didn't get to try a sip but he really liked it. I'll just say that this is for all the sugar lovers out there who have a big sweet tooth. The quality and variety of the drinks here make it worth visiting again and again until you can confidently say you found your favorite drink. I selected two drinks, the Jasmine Milk Tea with added crystal boba and the House Taro with added Katsubo Boba. The Jasmine tea was extremely fragrant. Crystal boba is good quality and nice balance of chewy and firm. Adjusted to less ice (no ice not possible) and 25% sweetness, which was appropriate with the Crystal boba. House Taro uses real taro, non-caffeinated and good for kids. Katsubo boba is a blend of large and small brown sugar boba, different texture but I slightly prefer just large boba (small ones would stick to large ones and were slightly messy). read more

Katsubo has a large selection of drinks to choose from. It's located in a large plaza so parking wasn't difficult. I tried the Katsubo Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea and the Aichi Green Tea Crumble. Both drinks including their boba was good. The Aichi Green Tea was a little icier than I imagined, but they do use good quality matcha powder. They use self-serving kiosk stations and there's no tables to hang out, but there's a bench to sit and wait for your drinks. I love oolong milk tea, so I was super pumped to try a new company's oolong tea. Honestly, I didn't love it - it tasted more like black tea. My friend also got the same dark roast oolong and we agreed that it didn't taste like oolong. Maybe it's just the dark roast that's throwing me off, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped. In terms of service, I ordered through the self-serve kiosk. I like the idea of a self-serve kiosk since some customers order tons of drinks with adjustments. It's also nice to see how much each adjustment costs (for example, cheese cream) before you place the order. There weren't any customers when I walked in, so my drink was ready within 5 minutes. Came here in the afternoon after lunch on a weekend. It wasn't too crowded. Located in the same plaza as a grocery store, so there's plenty of parking. The inside is pretty cool and one of the walls is a huge screen that displays the menu and other cool graphics. If you have a hard time reading the menu on the large screen, you can just look at the menu when you're ordering at the kiosk. I didn't want to get anything too sweet after lunch, so I got a fruit tea. 50% sweetness here is actually 50% sweetness, which was surprising to me since 50% is usually still pretty sweet at all the other boba spots. They have a lot of toppings - I like that you can get a mix of regular and mini boba. The drink itself didn't really stand out to me, but it was good. Based on the reviews and photos, I was really looking forward to getting a nice strawberry matcha on a rainy day. Felt very cold and impersonal going into the store. Completely empty, and the gal up front on her phone not getting up from her stool, with no greeting. I order and pay at the kiosk with zero interaction. Drink comes and I initially I think it's incorrect because I don't see the red in my drink. But I look closely and sure enough there is some slight pinkish discoloration, and that is the extent of the strawberry in my strawberry matcha :( read more

They have various specialty drinks, so we ordered the: *strawberry zen (strawberry smoothie with cheese foam) *thai creme: tasted like a thai tea, but slightly watered down/not as concentrated *strawberry yakult: this literally tasted like a strawberry yoplait yogurt (interpret that as good or bad as you will) Overall, I think the quality of the drinks are comparable to other boba shops in the area. A TWST cupsleeve event was hosted at this location, and the staff were nothing but accommodating! We were immediately greeted by staff when walking in and the shop even changed their digital screen to showcase details of the cupsleeve event. They had a decent amount of chairs to sit around but I do wish they had tables. Anyhow my friend and I got the Strawberry Zen and Aichi Milk Tea. My friend enjoyed the Aichi Milk Tea sightly more than the last time she came here. She had caution me that the drinks here are so sweet, so I made sure to adjust my Strawberry Zen to 50% sweet. Even with the adjustments, it was still pretty much sweeter than what I'm used to at other boba shop. I recommend making the sweet 25% or even 0% since strawberry itself is sweet. The first time I came here, I didn't really like it-- I felt like the quality was off and the prices were a bit too extreme. However, I decided to come back and try again a few weeks ago! It really changed my mind. I got the white peach oolong tea and it was really good. It was not too sweet even though i did 100% sweetness and I also got lychee jelly in it. My brother got the house taro and it was kinda weird to see the color of the drink. It was a light brown-ish color instead of the classic purple that we see in other stores. The boba quality is pretty good here! I don't remember what I didn't like exactly from the first time I came here but now I come here when I need a boba drink fix. The place itself is pretty small. There aren't a lot of seating options. It's more of a to-go store. There are two self-serve kiosks and the employees are usually behind in the kitchen making the drinks. The drinks come out pretty fast though so no complain there! There are a lot of random decorations everytime I come but I usually don't mind it. When the TV is on, it does get a bit funky but it's usually not bothersome either. Overall, I definitely will be back! There's are so many boba shops in the Fullerton/Buena Park area but this shopping area has been needing one for the longest time and I was glad to finally see one! The interior is so clean and their display wall looked amazing on top of their decor. However, it's really tight and no breathing room. There is an ordering station to the left as soon as you walk in and apparently you can scan a QR code on the other paying station for the menu. We didn't get informed this when we walked in but the girl working the front told the other guests as soon as they came in so we opted out to just look at the menu on the ordering kiosk instead. We ordered the following: The Shogun, 75% sweet w/ Honey Boba: You got me at triple shot of espresso, however, the whole drink tasted burnt. I tasted no matcha milk tea which was supposed to be one of the stars of the drink. The honey boba was decent, nothing to rave about. I like my drinks less sweet but the burnt flavor really ruined it for me. (1/5) Strawberry Kiwi w/ Lychee Jelly: My gf loved her drink and I think it was a solid choice for someone who likes their drinks sweet. You can barely taste the tea because of all the fruit bits and syrup they add to the drink. It does have a strong tangy flavor so a good balance for most. (4/5) I tried paying at the kiosk but it wouldn't let me. Instead, I had to wait until the person working the front to complete all the drinks in queue before I could pay.
