We were excited to take a family ride up the bike trail, which we've done many times before with other providers. I'll jump to the reason for this zero star review. Service - the young man at the checkin desk was of zero help in adjusting seats, handle bars (both rusted shut) or adjusting our 8 year old's helmet. Selection - the absolute worst inventory of bikes I've witnessed on our multiple trips to Kauai. Every one was full of rust and looked like they were retrieved from the landfill. The Keiki bike's chain came off twice going up the hill and one of the adult bikes chain came off - both bikes had to be replaced (took almost an hour to receive the replacements). Value - prices were similar to other shops, but we've never experienced this many problems with any bike rentals on Kauai. My son-in-law requested a refund and after a heated discussion by phone where he was verbally berated by the owner (he also severely berated his employee) he granted him a partial refund. BUT not before the owner called him a scammer and said he would not have replaced the bikes (both broken down with no chain) had he known he would request a refund! WOW! Just a word of advice to any potential renters - go check out the place and its inventory BEFORE renting from Holoholo. We love Kauai and use local vendors whenever possible but WE WILL NOT BE BACK TO THIS PLACE!!

All i brought with me were my swim fins and an extra bicep leash I had. I was looking for a legit bodyboard rental and the shops I had been to and/or the beach side rental shacks had boards that just werent up to par. I was down the road at Tamba buying tees and the guy there (thankfully) referred me to Kapaa Beach Shop when I asked if he knew of any places that had quality bodyboard rentals. He told me Mike at KBS rented Mike Stewart Science Bodyboards.... The look of shock on my face was probably photo worthy. I couldnt believe the type of place I had been looking for was just down the road. It was already my 2nd time in Kapaa by that point. Kapaa Beach Shop is on your right side along Kuhio Highway if you are coming from the Lihue area. It's right after Chicken in a Barrel BBQ. It has about 4 dedicated spaces out front in its gravel driveway. They rent everything from beach umbrellas, chairs, bicycles, diving and snorkeling gear... You name it. You need it for the beach, he has it. It was jamming with customers the both times I went there but Mike was gracious and helpful with all of us. I was able to rent a hybrid Mike Stewart Science bodyboard which I used at a few beaches on the island. It was great. Thick board with lots of float to it, making catching waves easier. It also came with a Gyroll bicep leash... It was like a setup I would gladly have every day back home. I'm thankful to Mike for the Aloha and just being super cool in providing a quality rental. We chatted it up a bit and you can tell he is legit and really knows his stuff. I HIGHLY recommend you go see Mike at Kapaa Beach Shop for all your beach rental needs. He is the man. Mahalos Mike! When I returned for the cash, he suddenly mentioned a 20% "search fee" that had never been disclosed. I politely asked to see where this policy was written, and he became defensive and aggressive. Instead of explaining, he told me I could take $240 or leave. When I questioned it further, he tore up the check and told me to get out and never come back. I was shocked. This aggressive behavior was unprofessional and completely unnecessary. I would not recommend doing business here.

June 2026 Boss Frog…read morewas conveniently located right on/off the highway. It was a few minutes north of Lihue and on the way towards Hanalei Bay. We rented 4 boogie boards for the entire week. Total cost = $80. They even threw in an igloo cooler at no cost too. Easy rental. Easy return. Staff was so helpful and friendly...they gave us the best places and time to go in the island. If we come back to this island, we'll definitely be back.

Very quick and easy process. No forms to fill out. This is the cheapest place to rent bikes for the bike path. The bikes are rough "island bikes" ... but you are renting it for a few hours not buying it!! No upsells here. If you want a basket on your bike then grab one with a basket. $20 for 4 hours. The other rental place nearby charges an extra $5 for each basket! Plus they charge $10 more for the rental too. Why pay more? Grab a bike at Kauai Snorkel and ride all the way to Donkey Beach. Or make it an 'adventure' and ride to the end of the road past Donkey Beach then hike 15 minutes further to Secret Cove. Chances are you will have it all to yourself!

Decided to get a "less cool", non mountain bike, grandpa cruiser bike, in hopes the bike thieves will leave this bike alone. Briggs hooked us up with a great looking grandpa cruiser since we mostly ride down the 7 mile east side beach front bike path. Briggs also rents bikes if you are on vacation and want to ride down the bike path. Briggs also services and does maintenance on our bikes when needed. He just replaced the chain and cables on my beach cruiser.

J was our guide, and he was super knowledgeable about Hawaii, kayaking, everything. He was also extremely kind. The team brought a delicious lunch for us that we ate half way, and they had the van waiting for us when we finished. Time management on a 12-hr excursion with lots of contingencies was incredible. I felt well taken care of throughout, but also like I was having the adventure of a lifetime.
