Terrible experience! I've been on a lot of catamaran cruises and none of them were like this! Call it the puke cruise, 75% of people were puking there wasn't even enough puke buckets for everyone throwing up. This was a snorkel cruise which they didn't inform us that we would not be snorkeling until we left port. The ocean conditions were so awful this tour should never have gone out. One of the crew members even mentioned he was sure glad it wasn't his money that paid for the puke boat experience. I would for-warn anyone considering cruising with this company to steer clear. It's about the money for them, not safety or making sure their participants have a good time. This tour was awesome! We loved learning about Kauai and its history. We loved the music. It was perfect for each location. Loved hanging out on the nets at the front of the boat. We loved hanging out and watching the spinner dolphins! There were so many we couldn't count them. And of course there was the snorkeling and diving off the back of the boat. I even saw a sea turtle! Not bad for a virgin snorkeler. And then on the way back, when it was a little wavy, we sat at the front of the boat and got splashed, a lot! It was wonderful! They call it lucky lady, I call it unlucky. Half the guest we're throwing up. It was like a domino effect. Left, right, middle boom everyone was throwing up. The staff were nice and understanding, I don't blame them. However due to the weather we were not able to go snorkeling. I had to close my eyes and plug my nose. I was so relief when we got back. Me and my boyfriend booked the Nāpali beach landing raft tour on Saturday 8/28 with Captain Drake and crew member Gabe. I was born and raised on Kauai I highly recommend seeing Kauai by boat! It was my boyfriends first time and he loved it! And myself, I can never get tired of how beautiful my home is, every time I get the opportunity it's like seeing it with fresh eyes for the first time! Hubby and I decided on a rafting tour through which we booked with Natalya at the Kapa'a Boss Frog's location. The booking was seamless and it took us less than ten minutes to set it up once we went over all of the different trip options. Check in was at 0715 and since we're staying in Kapa'a, we woke up at 0545 and made a stop at Little Fish Coffee in Hanapepe which is on the way and only five minutes from Port Allen where the tour would be launching. When we arrived, we checked in and signed our waivers which took only about five minutes. They provide you with a large dry bag for your stuff so you can actually bring a bunch of stuff with you. I would suggest sunblock, a towel, a windbreaker because during winter on the island it's pretty chilly, whatever meds you need (i.e. sea sickness pills) and possibly a change of clothes. You want to already have your bathing suit on for when it's time to snorkel and maybe a rash guard to keep you warm but able to get wet. The waves tend to be choppy and although it makes the experience more, "exciting", as our guide, Nono, would say, you will definitely feel it in your arms, neck, back and shoulders. If I didn't have a sore left arm, we would have switched sides on the way back to the marina. You will not stay dry on this boat and that's a big part of the fun. Make sure you have sunglasses to block the salty water from getting in your eyes. They provide drinks, sandwiches and snacks (non-alcoholic because you really need to be alert otherwise you can fly off). They also provide the fins and goggles for snorkeling. We headed up north via the west coast, to Na Pali, where we were able to jump into the water to swim and snorkel for a bit. On the way back down, we visited some caves and were able to boat into a few. Our captain, Manu, was awesome. He was funny and informative. He and first mate, Nono, gave us a lot of Hawaiian history during the trip, from stories of legend to geological facts and their history of commerce. They answered all our questions and kept us laughing the whole trip. We saw a multitude of colourful fish, dolphins that swam alongside the boat, turtles and even goats on the Na Pali shore. The entire trip was about six hours but felt like only a few. We were back by 1pm with the rest of the day at our disposal. After disembarking at the marina, Nono suggested we check our Da Crack over in PoiPu for some good food which is exactly what we did. Totally worth it. Rafting was the best choice for us this day, as we witnessed a bunch of catamarans having a hard time out on the rough water, swaying back and forth. I will say that if you have back injuries you may want to forgo this kind of experience because you are definitely going to feel it the next day. You're holding yourself in your seat and your arms, legs and back are putting in work the entire time you're moving on the water. We were able to snorkel for about 45 minutes, and even though the conditions weren't great (the water was a little murky, and due to the currents, we had to snorkel at some location closer to Waimea than the Na Pali coast itself), my wife and I still had a fantastic time. I would not recommend the lucky lady boat if you have any tendency for sea/motion sickness or if you're grossed out by pukers. We took a similar trip with HoloHolo and the boat was much nicer. This trip we were surrounded by many guests throwing up into buckets while the crew washed them out into the ocean. Unpleasant was an understatement. I would not recommend the lucky lady boat trip to Nāpali coast if you're traveling with little kids. They will yell at you even though it was due to misunderstanding. We moved down to lower deck as they gave a weather warning and suggested that. Then while my husband went to the upper deck and I wanted to use the bathroom right next to my seat, Amanda ( a very nice crew member) offered help watch the kids for me and I said OK. Then when I came back, another lady came to lower deck and yelled to the whole level saying 'PLEASE MAKE SURE AT LEAST ONE PARENT HAS TO BE WITH THE KIDS. WE HAVE 47 people to serve and cannot help just you!!!!' I was so shocked because it was just a few minutes and I didn't ask for it. They offered help. PLEASE COMMUNICATE WITH EACH OTHER BEFORE BLAMING ME?! A few of the crew members are nice including Amanda but a few are not. Another reason is that even though the website says kids over 3 is OK to book the tour, they cannot really enjoy much. Kauai Sea Adventures is a better description than tours. You are required to be barefoot on the catamaran- you put your shoes on a cart that stays on the dock. The 60 foot catamaran got very small and tossed around in the ocean. Pulling the boat next to the sea caves was interesting. Snorkeling was not quickly mastered by all. Water sprays everywhere so staying dry or keeping cameras dry is not going to happen. Holding plates in your lap to eat. Going to the restroom in a small shifting port-a-potty... The views of the dolphins, turtles, sunset and Na Pali coast and being served pretty good food and drinks sounds like a tour, but it is an adventure. The crew was great. Take anti-motion pills before you go. Bring ginger gum for more help during the boat ride. (I took no pills before the trip.) No one had problems till the snorkeling. Once we came out of the water and got distracted with taking off gear, rinsing off, rinsing the kids off and talking to each other about the snorkeling... some got sick. I remembered what Kauai (the boat hand & not the island) said and stayed at the back of the boat, looked at the horizon and chewed my ginger gum. I fought through the sickness and felt good enough to eat later. Others, put heads down and were done. Others, trying to take care of them and stopped looking at the horizon became sick. Snorkeling- I had bought a cheap snorkel back in Missouri and played around with it a few times. Anybody with any experience with snorkels had a much better time. Buy them and have the family practice before the trip so the time on vacation can be enjoyed. Camera- find a water-proof one for snorkeling and a some sealed or protected one for the rest. At night- bring a wicking long sleeve shirt or jacket because with being wet and dealing with wind can make you cold. If they described this as an adventure vs tour then I would say 5 star. read more

I was disappointed like the millennial I am when I forgot to charge my phone for this tour, leaving me with zero photo taking opportunities. But it was the best thing possible -- because this is a trip that will forever be seared into my memory! Being present and immersed in this stunning nature is life-affirming. It was a perfect day in every way. Captain Amber, Jacob & Malu was absolutely incredible -- they made us feel safe and welcomed. The crew checked on everyone and served us nice beverages, wraps and other snacks. The Na Pali coast is too beautiful for words and the view speaks for itself. There is nothing like it -- take the Dramamine or Bonine and just GO! I also enjoyed learning about Na Pali's history and Hawaiian culture from Captain Amber, who also explained the geography of the valleys and cliffs. Considered by many to be one of the most breathtaking stretches of island the world over, you'll find yourself gasping for air, bugging your eyes and somehow sort of ingesting all of those greens, blues and surround sounds during the four-ish hour ride. Ivory dudes like me should be caking on the sunblock, by the way. Anything exposed got liberal, 30-minute doses of SPF 50, with special attention paid to the backs of legs and tops of feet. Why? If you've spent time snorkeling without sunscreen, you know where I'm coming from, here: these forgettable areas can burn in a heartbeat and ruin your island hikes for days. Visions of spinner dolphins giving the crowd a show will never be forgotten, and surfin' sea turtles abound. The snorkel show isn't anything spectacular, but you'll get an appetite, and the lunch buffet was solid, loaded with meats -- vegetarians might want to bring a lil' somethin' extra. We enjoyed generally spectacular weather but I can certainly understand how this ride could get super rocky during high winds. Finally, don't be that guy who thinks his straw hat will hold onto his head while he stands at the bow on the trip back to shore. Four stars for the great crew of the Lucky Lady on our adventure to the Nā Pali coast. My wife and I booked the morning cruise to the coast through our resort. We arrived at their shop in Port Allen right on time as requested at 645am. Park just down from there in their well signed dirt lot. After our introductory and safety talk, our group of twenty or so were escorted down to the Catamaran for boarding. We were underway by 8am and immediately saw dolphins playing in the small harbor. We ended up encountering dolphins four more times on our trip along with some random turtles here and there. No sharks seen for you North Carolinians trying to escape all the goings on back home. The trip up took two hours with plenty of commentary from the super extroverted Captain Kauai. I guess he was named after the island or vice versa. He filled us in on what we were seeing on shore along with some of the history of Hawaii. As the trip progressed, the scenery just kept getting better and better. Pictures don't do the coast justice up there. Simply spectacular. There was plenty of time to take dozens of photos before turning around to head back. While up there, our Captain found a sea cave and inched the ship in there to soak some newlyweds standing at the bow from an overhead waterfall. Plenty of laughs with just a hint of danger as we were pretty close to the rocks at times. The return was hammer down to get back on time. A sandwich lunch bar was opened along with drinks from the bar. We did stop about halfway on the way back for some snorkeling. It was pleasant getting into the water on such a warm and humid day but I only saw four types of fish and those were all hanging around the boat near the surface. Don't take this tour if your main objective is to snorkel. I found the crew of the Lucky Lady to be the best. They were very entertaining, always checking up on the passengers to make them comfortable, talking to everyone sharing stories and genuinely trying to make everyone's trip the best it could be. read more

Did a sunset cruise on July 15. Schedule on their site says the tour is "3.5-4 hours" and that at this time of year the boat comes into port afterwards at approximately 7:00 pm, so I decided that would work fine for my departing flight at 10:00 pm. We arrived at 2:00 and were told the tour wouldn't be back until 7:30-7:45. The clerk assured us we would have plenty of time to get to the airport since there was no traffic at night. In the event we did, but I didn't like the extra stress. The boat left the dock at about 2:30. So this trip had jumped from "3.5-4" hours to 5.5 hours! Personally that is way too much boat time for me. I would not have taken this cruise knowing it was 2 hrs to NaPali coast, 1.5 hr there, 2 hrs back. The crew were excellent. Couldn't be better. The boat is tight. If you're sitting on the side, people will walk past you constantly. If you're on top, it's very rocky. If you go into the cabin for some shade, you get queasy. Honestly a catamaran is not my favorite mode of water transport. The "three course dinner" was (1) pretzels/crackers/salami/cheese (2) rice/chicken/salad/fruit/roast veggies (3) cookie. Drinks were readily available. Food wasn't bad - it was like backyard barbecue quality. It's very difficult to eat while cruising the open ocean bobbing up and down with wind blowing. There are no tables to eat at or anything. Nowhere to set a drink while eating. The kids on the boat got a little stir crazy - but then again, 5.5 is a crazy long time. I would not do this again. My helicopter view of the coast was much better and about 4 hours shorter. read more

Had a fantastic time on a snorkel raft adventure with Captain Matt and his co-captain Matt. They were super chill guys who know a lot about the history of the island. We got to snorkel as the fog cleared out of the mountains we were going to see. I had an encounter with two turtles which was incredible. We went into so amazing caves and learned a lot about the local lore! Highly recommend this trip. Plus you get less sea sick on a small vessel and the Matt's have tricks up their sleeves for sea sickness. Overall an amazing trip that shows you some incredible parts of the island you can only get to by sea. read more

This is going to be a "novel" of a post! My husband and I ventured out on the Na Pali Sunset Snorkel Cruise yesterday..... Check in and boarding was a breeze. Essentials to bring include: sunscreen, a brimmed hat is ideal; especially, if you plan to sit up top in the direct sun, a towel, lip balm, sea bands/Dramamine if you think you might get queasy, and your camera. The crew: Captain Kauai, Koa, Matt and Alex were all phenomenal! Captain Kauai is knowledgeable about the island, sea life, culture and history - he has a great personality and sense of humor as well! His crew were attentive, helpful and fun - these guys catered to your every need, from continually providing you drinks, food, checking in with you if you needed anything, to the captain massaging my hubby's leg with peppermint oil to help sooth a leg cramp he experienced while snorkeling. Incredible customer service! Tip your crew members kindly - they definitely work hard for it! The cruise was smooth sailing - literally! Waters were mostly calm - we had two experiences with an extremely short bumpy ride, but no complaints because the waves created a refreshing spray of cool sea water. During the cruise we had the opportunity to see flying fish, a monk seal, spinner dolphins, a few sea turtles, tropical fish, and of course the spectacular views of the Na Pali coastline. If you've ever seen the Grand Canyon and remember the feeling you had when you first stepped up to the rim and saw its grandeur for the first time......well, that is the feeling you get when you see the Na Pali coastline - it's breathtaking - a must see! We will definitely be back, and booking our cruise with this company again is a no brainer. read more

An incredible experience - 11/10! We were aboard the 'Imiloa Express for the Na Pali coast sunset tour. Incredible views (like, actually stunning), an exhilarating boat ride, and the food was tasty to boot. We even got to see some eagle rays and spinner dolphins which was pretty fantastic. Amber, our captain, was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and accommodating and crew members Jane and Howie were also super well-informed, passionate, and extremely hard-working.
