Fantastic! I came across this sushi restaurant browsing for sushi deals through Groupon. I found a deal for $22 worth of sushi for $16. There was another New Year's special that gave us a further discount, so I only spent $12 for a $22 voucher. The Groupon is great because you can use it for delivery or take out. I called the restaurant and let them know I had a Groupon. I ordered, and gave her my Groupon code. She said that it would take about 15 mins. I had my friend pick up our food. They told me that they are taking great Covid precautions with their front door leading into a small waiting area with the entrance to the dining room separated so only a takeout window was in between the waiting area and the dining room. We ordered the Alaska roll, Futomaki roll, spicy tuna crunch roll, eel & salmon roll, and seaweed salad. The food came packed neatly, they packed 2 rolls in each box. The sushi looked really good, and they gave us a very generous portion of seaweed salad for the price. Usually when I order seaweed salad I usually get a small amount. They must have given us like more than 1/2 pound of seaweed salad it was more than about 2 cups in volume! The sushi was amazing. They give you much more filling and less rice which is what I like to see. Everything was very satisfying and for the price it was even better. They also provided us with a menu that said they offer free local deliveries for a minimum order of $15. We will defiantly have to take them up on that offer if we're lazy one day. Alright, Alright, Alright!! I was finally able to make it in here for dinner. It was definitely worth the wait! Upon arrival, I was greeted right away and with a smile. I ordered a spicy tuna naruto roll and the Lamborghini roll. Very delicious and fresh, and the spice was definitely on point! My waiter, Tommy, was also awesome. Very nice and charismatic. He continued to check if everything was okay. It is small inside, only about 10 tables, but it isn't cramped. Prices are a little expensive ranging from $13-$20 for speciality rolls. Went back for a second chance and was disappointed again. This time I went with my dad and once again we were the only ones seated. Let's start with my last review. New ownership is not living up to the last. My dad remembered the waitress and how great the service was and how friendly in the last ownership. I went last time with a gift card for $60. They said they won't honor it but give 20% off. Already get that with a check in. I left a review and posted just before leaving. She ran out to the car and gave us a $20 gift card ---- THE SAME GIFT CERTIFICATE!!! so why wouldn't they honor ours?! This time my father got his food. I sat and waited with a half a cup of tea. I feel badly for giving this place one star but I'm going to join the other people who did. Sorwy Kawa. We were in the area and the restaurant that we had planned to go to was closed so we looked on Yelp for other restaurants to get sushi and since Kawa had an overall rating of 4 stars we headed right over. 4 stars, what could be bad? Well to start, we were the only ones in the restaurant, we let that go, it was almost 6 on a weekday. That was our second mistake. First one being that we didn't look at recent reviews. The good ones we definitely not written recently. We ordered and while we waited I had a look around the dining room. We were sitting by the window and there was dirt, dust and cobwebs around the windows and I'm thinking, if this is what it looks like in the public space, it must be worse back there in the kitchen. We get our vegetable dumplings, not bad but I just couldn't get past the dirt I was sitting next to. I then decided to look at the recent reviews here on Yelp. Oops, should have done that before I walked in. No good. My stomach was telling me to close it down but our rolls came and I was hesitant. All of a sudden a little fruit fly came crawling out of one of the rolls. Ok nope. My stomach closed up like a steel trap. Me and my daughter just sat there for a few minutes not exactly knowing what to do. Then she said, I'm ok with eating bad food and dug right in. I couldn't bring myself to join her. The restaurant is doing takeout orders. No dining in. The person taking out orders is very nice and informed us to use cash just in cash of the credit limitation. She has mask on. The place when you walk in has plastic in front of her as she delivers the food and gives you the cash transaction. I used Groupon. Food was awesome. Had a doctors appt in the area so I called my friend to see if she had eaten dinner yet. I had a Yelp deal to use $20 for $50 of food! In a dark corner of Massapequa & tight parking lot it can be missed. I met my friend not realizing they have AYCE sushi here also. We opted out of that because you can only order certain items. Not a fan of restricted menus. The food was good but nothing wowed me. If I lived in the area I would come back for convenience not because of great quality. Although the service was friendly & accommodating, after we ordered we never saw her again until the end of the meal. Worth the Yelp deal? Yes! Worth traveling for? I ordered the Unagi Don Dinner. It came with a salad and soup. The salad could have used some more tomatoes, I think there was only like 2 or 3 very small cubed pieces, but it was very good. The miso soup was good also. I personally like my eel pretty hot, but it came at a nice temperature and was very fresh and tasteful. Annndddddd, the entire menu is 20% off. This particular dinner is usually $24 but it came to 21 with tax included. I added two portions of tobiko for $1 each which is a great deal. The portions are nice. I'll definitely be ordering again. just moved into the neighborhood and needed to find a sushi place asap. tried kawa sushi on a friday night ordered pickup. walked on in and it was a complete ghost town empty you could hear a pin drop. the place looks like it needs a refresh. *food review* I decided to try my top 3 favorite sushi rolls I normally order at other sushi spots -eel avocado- The eel was super fishy and smelt a little different it wasnt horrible but i probably wouldnt order again ate about 3 pieces -philly roll- The philly roll was probably the best one the fish seemed fresh and the taste was good -spicy tuna- just by looking at the color i was already hesitant why is this BRIGHT red? that was strange. the flavor and smell were off -pork gyoza- inedible i had to throw it out. the gyoza dipping sauce smelt horrible the dumplings themselves tasted like frozen prepackaged freezer food i took ONE bite and could not finish the rest. tasted and smelt old unfortunately i wont be coming back i wish i enjoyed it since its so close. gunna be searching for a better place soon read more

It's time to update my review! Now it's been almost 6 years that I've been exclusively coming here. All is still amazing (well except the parking but for the quality of the food, I can & will look past that). The woman who always answers the phone/always up front, I think her name is Sky (according to the receipt), such a sweet lady! Last night I ordered the volcano rolls without the spicy sauce & I tried something new, the Lexus rolls, which as per their website: "Shrimp tempura with mango inside, topped with avocado, fried banana, tobiko and special sauce". I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about it but it's possibly my new favorite (sorry volcano rolls). This place is a rare gem where every experience has been good & I've never had a bad meal, everything's excellent. The service was above average and the waiter/waitress came to check on us a few times throughout our meal. I personally liked the Mango Avocado Roll and Crazy Roll a lot. Our only raw Roll was the salmon roll and the salmon was very fresh. We usually ordered Pineapple Fried Rice for our Japanese family night outs, but this place did not have pineapple fried rice on their menu. We ordered the chicken fried rice instead. The chicken was surprisingly good and the overall taste for the fried rice was above average. The shrimp udon was disappointed though. The udon dish was very salty and I felt they put in either too much oyster sauce or soy sauce. The number of shrimps in the shrimp udon was fair, but the size of the shrimps was smaller than other places. There were plenty of parking space in front of the restaurant. I'm torn. I've taken out from here twice this week (don't judge me) The workers are very friendly but a few things have gone awry and I'm a little concerned. On Wednesday I sought out the 1/2 priced sushi pieces. I was so excited to see scallop on the menu, because it's my favorite and usually at least $4 a piece. Imagine my excitement when I knew I could get almost 3 pieces for that price! But then, I was told scallop was the only piece that wasn't half price. Lame. But I already ordered 2 pieces and I didn't want to take it off the bill. Other than that everything was fresh and the portion was good. I was impressed. So today my fiancé and I decided to take out a quick lunch. Except it wasn't so quick. We were told 10 minutes and we got our food after a half hour. Annoying. And to make matters worse they gave my fiancé the scallop piece for half price! Needless to I was pissed. I can't believe they charged me differently. Half price means half price. Not only is their sushi excellent, but their customer service is beyond. One of the rolls I ordered for lunch was incorrect (I ordered tuna and they gave me salmon), and after calling them they delivered the correct roll within 15 minutes!! While they may not be able to do that for everyone all the time, they could so they did. This is now my go to place for sushi. read more
