Cute local market with friendly service. The poke was some of the best I've had on the island and the prices are reasonable.

So fresh and flavorful! The poke here is top notch -- you can really taste the quality in every bite. Definitely a hidden gem at the marketplace!

Great place to stop for poke. The poke place in the marketplace is what used to be across the street. Can get your market conveniences here. Worth the stop for your items and to grab a healthy bite to go.

Unassuming little marketplace on the side of the road. Definitely worth a stop. We got the poke bomb, and it was an absolute delight. At $12 for four pieces it's all reasonable for something so fresh and local. The stats was pretty kind and the place was well-stocked. Plenty of parking and exceptionally clean. Seems like they had a ton of other little things to purchase. Would be a great stop for gathering supplies on your way to a picnic. :)

The best pastrami sandwich in Kawaihae. Just wish they made sandwiches all day. They only serve from 10-1.

The Absolute Best Meal on the Island--A Masterclass in Food & Service!…read moreIf I could give Seafood Bar & Grill 10 stars, I would. This wasn't just a dinner; it was our absolute favorite meal of the entire trip. We didn't even have a special occasion to celebrate--we just had a phenomenal experience here in the past and couldn't wait to return. They somehow managed to exceed every expectation. From the second we walked in, we were blown away. We loved the Tiki Bar, everyone is family when you walk in, history covering the walls ambiafamily-friendly; ev Seafood We were greeted by Dave Yurtin, the owner, who set up a fabulous table for us inside. But here is the kicker: Dave actually remembered us from our first visit two years ago! Talk about a total legend. We couldn't believe his memory--that is next-level hospitality. Our server, Ryan, provided spectacular, world-class service. He didn't write a single part of our big order down and got absolutely everything 100% right. He was attentive, fast, and incredibly sharp--he even remembered at the end that my mother-in-law had asked for onion rings once she was finished, before changing her mind. Incredible! Now, let's talk about the food and drinks because WOW. We started with the drinks, and these were hands-down the absolute best Mai Tais we have had on the island. Every single dish that hit the table was a home run: - Escargot: Wow, wow, wow, wow! Absolutely phenomenal. The pesto and cheese with the garlic bread? Unreal. - Seafood Quesadilla & Coconut Shrimp: Perfectly executed and delicious. - Braised Short Ribs: Out of this world. Fall-off-the-bone tender. - Pineapple Macnut Slaw: Insane flavor. Do not skip this! - Garlic Bread: Spectacular and perfect for soaking up every last bit of flavor. - Fish Linguine: A rich, perfectly balanced cream sauce packed with different types of fresh fish. Somehow, we saved room for dessert and tried FOUR different ones: the Key Lime Pie was unbelievable, the Lilikoi Pie and Kona Coffee Pie were spectacular, and the NY Cheesecake with Lilikoi Sauce was the perfect grand finale. Between Dave's legendary memory, Ryan's flawless service, and a kitchen that doesn't miss, Seafood Bar & Grill is an absolute must-visit. We will be talking about this meal until our next visit! Thank you for an unforgettable night!

I got the ginger steamed clams and they were amazing. We also ordered an extra serving of Parmesan bread because it was so tasty. My dad got the prime rib, which is only available on Tuesdays, and it was great as always. Our server Matt recommended my mom try the black bean seafood combo, and she was pleasantly surprised by how much she loved her meal! My husband got the cajun style fresh catch and loved his meal! We highly recommend this restaurant and love supporting Dave and his team. It's always a great experience!

The gentlemen working were amazing and after letting them know that I have a nut allergy, they made a whole new batch of poke so that I could have a bowl! They were very kind and did not have a second thought on making the poke to make sure I had a taste of their poke. They ended up slicing a whole new fish for me and If that doesn't show you their hospitality, then you need to see it yourself. Their fish was so fresh (ahi tuna), and the lomi lomi salmon was super refreshing. My girlfriend had the same meal but what they already had chopped up and she said it was just as fresh as the one they made for me. Definitely one of my favorite spots on the Kona side for poki and for their hospitality. 11/10 would come again!

They only had ahi tuna (either with shoyu or spicy) when we came and honestly it was just ok. The fish was cut poorly with small uneven chunks throughout and while the marinades were flavorful they fish quality was not great. The sides of kimchi and spicy crab were pretty tasty but given it's a fish market we were pretty disappointed. Maybe it's because we came around 1:30pm but the lack of fish options and the portion was pretty paltry. $20 for a plate really isn't bad but the scoops were so sad looking. You can see from the picture alone how small the scoops of poke were and the uneven small end pieces of fish.

If you are seafood person, highly recommend to come and shop here Kona Kampachi(fillet, collared,…read moreor whole), lobsters, oysters, etc.... Everything fresh and good price. I and my family always stay at Airbnb when we visit big island, so we buy fish and shellfish, enjoy eating as sashimi and BBQ grilling. By a GPS, if you input "Blue Ocean Mariculture" they lead you a wrong place, but just keep going ahead, you can find this selling place right next to Kona Sea Salt. (On Yelp, this address is correct) Front of their place, there is a parking lots. There is an order counter and you can order them, they packed with blue ice(they put the box but recommend to bring your cooler bag or box). They don't take preorder, so first come and get. Sometimes they sold out so quick. Well, one thing, this time we ordered two Kona Kanpachi (that usually we bought), and paid back to our Airbnb, put refrigerator, we found two packages of Kona Kanpachi fillet (one package have two fillet from one fish),,,, so total we have four fillet,,, huuuum they think one fillet means from one fish fillet!? Well, we enjoyed all seafood that we bough, so no problem but when we shop next time, we'll ask them how they count for their order.

I love kanpachi sashimi, which is hard to come by in Oregon. I was super excited to learn there's a…read morekanpachi farm in Kona! They have a retail window here where you can purchase fresh kanpachi filets ($20/lb) (or whole) along with other seafood. They are pre-packaged in various weights. They recommend consuming it in a day if you're eating it raw. The price can't be beat for never-frozen kanpachi, since this is the source for other markets. It's located behind the airport, and they send you home with an ice pack to keep your goods cold.

When we walked-in, the hostess told us that they were full but we could order food at the bar. So, we sat down at the bar. Red Flag #1: The beer menu had no prices (the prices were set daily like fresh fish and lobster. HUH??). Asked the bartender about certain local beers. He was very rude and unfriendly and told us that he didn't know anything about any of the local beers. Red Flag #2: Asked about the Poke options. Again no prices on the menu for poke (prices adjusted daily). Asked the bartender about poke options like which one was spicy and which one is not kind of thing. Again, rude and unfriendly and told us he didn't know anything about any of the poke options (ugh!). Since we walked a long way, we were tired, and we had already started drinking the beer we decided to order by inquiring people next to us on what they were eating. The poke and the Korean fried chicken was absolutely delicious and fresh! Was it worth it? NO! The rude bartender ruined the whole experience! It was way too expensive and not worth it at all! Giving two stars because the food was good. On they way to this place, we passed by the Kona Brewery. They had Poke and other similar items on the menu with prices listed for all menu items! We came to the conclusion that this place was a rip-off! Just horrible!! I recommend going to the Kona Brewery at the other end of the lot where this restaurant is located.
