Attended a pop culture convention and met Parker Posey. The center is large, modern and clean. Bathrooms are extremely clean. Employees are very helpful and friendly. Easy to navigate convention. Signage everywhere. Didn't feel smashed in or congested as some other centers can be for high-impact events. read more

Went to a seminar at this convention center and security lady at the metal detector was very judgmental asking us what we were all doing here on a weekday. She said "y'all don't got work wth y'all doing here on a week day." Um excuse me, that's none of your business. Security was unorganized. They should be better prepared for large number of people. The restrooms weren't kept. The bathroom stalls ran out of TP and there was water all over multiple bathrooms floors. It was a slipping hazard. The place was huge and nice but I think staff was lacking. read more

I came here for a work conference. Both the venue and the rest rooms were clean but the building was so cold that it was hard to sit through sessions. I had pants and a wool sweater and it had to be 50* in some rooms. The venue does not allow outside food and the early morning food concessions were limited and crowded. read more

I went to an event here and my young toddlers were hungry so I went to buy them a simple small fruit cup and I was charged $8.50. Inflation has come down considerably the last year, so why do chopped grapes and melons cost $8.50? I also needed a cup to give my kid some water and was told that I could not use their smallest cup without paying $4 for the price of a soda. These people need to get it together very quick. I attended my first MegaFest event with the Potter's House at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center, and left with an impression of "whoa, this place is huge." Huge, and quite organized. I am very grateful for the event organizers having this convention center organized, considering the sheer size of the venue. Very easy place to get lost. There are ballrooms upon ballrooms within this convention center, Also, the parking garage and DART personnel are remarkably organized. I found it easy going in, and easy going out when it came to accessing 183 to travel back to Fort Worth. However, one thing that I didn't particularly like was of the concessions. Way over-priced. In fact, RIDICULOUSLY OVER-PRICED. $28.50 for two hamburgers, sweet potato tater tots (since they ran out of french fries) and one bottle of water. The only reason why I paid $28.50 was that I didn't want to walk a few blocks to a downtown fast food place and run back to my event. Not sure who is the convention center contracts with, yet I would prefer another option as opposed to the food being offered here. One cool thing that I liked is that there are a plethora of charging stations for your electronic devices. While the ballrooms have power outlets, these outlets are configured differently to where you can't use your regular charging plugs. Either this was provided by the event sponsor, or the convention center itself. Either way, this is a very welcome feature, particularly for those that intend on staying at the convention center all day. Certainly one of the jewels of downtown Dallas. read more

Was here for the Dallas Auto Show. This is a huge Convention Center and easy to get lost if the signage is not right. I did almost get lost by walking into another event taking place during a lull; some type of cheerleading competition. Parking is available but not generally too close unless you are one of the special people with VIP parking passes. The facility is very well maintained inside. Restrooms were clean and stocked. I did see a lot of police and sheriff deputies present so the place felt secure. Food options are often limited and this event didn't have much at all. Of course there are many great places within a reasonable walk for a real meal. There are some must see sights and sites next to this center. The Dallas Cattle Drive Sculptures of Pioneer Plaza is one. It is great for the kids except if recent rains got it muddy. There is also the Pioneer Park Cemetery which does contain a currently controversial memorial which may be removed some day. Not too far of a walk is the Dallas City Hall building of I. M. Pei's design. It has been a back drop on a few movies over the years. read more

This is a good place for large events. There is a main arena and 6 additional halls available for use. I used a pedometer this last time I attended an event and from the main arena to E hall it's a half a mile walk. You'll get your exercise walking around there. The staff is hit or miss. Some are friendly and helpful while others seem to be having a never ending bad day. If you have to go to the bathroom, prepare. The facility is older and hasn't been remodeled. The bathrooms back up fast and there never seems to be enough staff to fix the problem. By day 3 of our event multiple bathrooms in each hall were out of order and there was trash piled up everywhere. I guess cleaning crews don't come through till the event is completely over. Overall this is a decent place to have an event. Make sure to wear comfy shoes and watch where you park. Some lots are hourly and some are daily. read more

I've been here a few times but recently it was for FanExpo Dallas (Comic Con). Honestly I have no issues with the convention center. Any gripes I have is with how FanExpo used the space given the event. The convention center is a good size, bathrooms stay clean for the most part, onsite and offsite parking isn't bad. They had a volleyball tournament going on at the same time on the other half of the convention center and we weren't running into each other. My main issue is the food choices. It's either not enough or not good. Either way it doesn't work. Get some different vendors or food trucks over there during events. The last thing I want to do is leave just for food. read more

This place is massive - as it should be - for a city of this size. Geek facts: -The largest contiguous exhibit-space in the structure is 726,726 square feet. -A 203,000-square-foot column-free exhibit hall in the center is the largest of its kind in the United States. Recently visited for the 'NFL Experience' during Super Bowl XLV weekend and saw the column free exhibit hall transformed into a football field - pretty cool. Very modern in design and appointments (last major remodel and expansion was in 2002). One sad note: The last time I visited Dallas (2006) the Reunion Arena was still standing, however it has since been demolished in 2009. read more

We were here for Dream Hack this year and oh my gosh it was amazing. We got there super early to find parking everything was amazingly set up the staff was helpful and polite, check in went smooth. I don't know what you have to do to get this to come back to Dallas but Dallas Dreamhack was a wonderful Videogame convention and I'd love to take an opportunity to see more and experience more things here. Large convention center and performance arena all in one. Nice cold AC too! Was just here for the Cedia 2015 Expo on biz and got to explore this place for a few days. Just like Texas where everything is big so is this place. Many halls, ballrooms, meeting rooms, etc. Concerts, musicals, plays, etc, are also done here. Phone signal is kind of wacky in here as it will be full strength then cut out totally depending on what part of the facility you're in. I did find many outlets along walls in the hallways and sitting areas to recharge though. As with most of these joints the concessions are a total rip-off and way overpriced. Also, as per usual, the convention center food offerings are complete unhealthy garbage. Problem with this place is that there is pretty much nothing within quick walking distance to go get lunch. Except for a large sports bar at the Omni Hotel which is across the street, but was always packed during lunch it seemed, so having to wait also sucked. The staff here though is very friendly and will greet you with a "good morning" and "have a great day". Not a bad convention center overall. read more

They say everything is bigger in Texas. Well you'll certainly believe it if you've visited the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas. This place is enormous!!! We actually stopped in here twice last Friday which was April the 1st. We were in town for Wrestlemania 32 and came down during the morning to check out the WWE Superstore that was setup, then after spending the afternoon downtown we came back in the evening for the WWE Fan Axxess event that ran 5p-9p. When you enter the location you start off in a large hallway and take some elevators upstairs. Once you get to the second floor you really get an idea of how big the place is, which is fricken huge. We spent an hour or so in the super store checking out all the cool stuff, especially the belts. They had a huge ensemble of them going back a couple of decades. There was all sorts of clothing an other wrestling paraphernalia as well as a superstar on hand signing autographs. Sheamus was the one there while we were visiting. One of the more interesting things I first noticed while in the store and even more prevalent later was the number of foreign languages being spoken. There were literally people from all over the world in there. BTW the super store was most likely using less than a quarter of the convention center space. After a trip downtown for lunch and some sight seeing we came back as Axxess opened at 5pm. The line was long and attached is a couple of photo's showing the line in front of us as well as behind is just to get into Axxess. Once the line started moving we got in fairly quickly as they had plenty of security on hand to check everyone. The TSA could learn something from them. Axxess is where where you really got a good look at the enormous size of the convention center. Once you went through the entrance area, which was bigger than the super store, the entire center opened up to you. They had an NXT and bleachers setup in the far corner of the room. Built off of that were 7 or 8 autograph areas with rotating super stars. In addition to that were the RAW museum which had all sorts of props and attire from RAW over the years. A section that had a ramp and video screen so could make your own entrance video (Xerxes and Dwayne!). There was also a Slammy's posing area, a ring full of foam cushions so you could perform high flying jumps. The ladders used in many Ladder Matches and even a full setup of the WWE Elimination Chamber. Pretty bad ass. I could go on and on but at this point I think you get the idea. I've attached a bunch of photo's as well. It was a long day be definitely worth it. Ton's of stuff to see and do there and I'm sure this convention center can accommodate just about any event you can imagine. read more

Huge convention center. But what else is new in TX right? Everything's huge here. I was here for the 2012 Dallas Europa Sports Expo in August and I thought the space here was more than enough for the expo and the bodybuilding show that was held. I like that it's connected to an actual hotel so you don't have to walk outside the whole time to get to where you parked your car. We valeted our shizz of course. Restrooms here are pretty clean and well maintained. The only thing is, like most conventions I've been to...the AC is blasting like a mofo here! Brrrrr. I hate the cold! read more

Okay I knew from looking at the exhibitor map for GATS that this place was *HUGE* but even that didn't come close. The Great American Trucking Show even with over 2,000 exhibitors, a huge area where the Pride and Polish competition was held, two whole wings of conference rooms and all four C ballrooms for Friday and Saturday night concerts and still only about 2/3 was being used. If you go for a big event be prepared to walk your feet off just getting from the parking area. The parking garage was easy and fairly reasonably priced compared to the surface street lots at $8 a day. Concessions were even more outrageously priced than I expected as canned sodas that will run you $.50-.75 in any store or vending machine were $2.25 and things only got worse from there. So eat at this event I did not. They have more than ample bathrooms which were kept very clean and well stocked. The space and set up was more than ample for the trucks and number of exhibitors and attendees - I was pleased and most impressed! read more

I recently spent time at this convention center as a vendor. We were staying at the Omni Hotel which is connected by a sky bridge, so this was extremely convenient. The walk from the Omni lobby to the actual space really isn't that bad. I kept comparing it to the walk at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas since that was where the most recent convention was and this was a lot better. We were in the hall that had a few stairs in front. Right outside of the hall there were bathrooms. These bathrooms were clean and didn't seem overly busy. I was a fan. Inside, I believe there was another set of bathrooms that seemed much busier. I think the ones outside of the space were kinda off to the side and maybe go unnoticed. They kept the convention hall at a really nice temperature. It was a little warm on setup day, but during the actual vendor show, it was pleasantly cool. Finally, the vendors were privy to a lunch on show day and I beeline the hall handled that. If that was you, Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center...nice job! Your staff was excellent and the food was a-ok. read more

I came here for the 2011 Dallas Auto Show. The auto show failed to meet expectations, and this place was no different. Sure, the place is massive, but parking was $10-15 (although I guess that's not bad), and the entire convention center felt old. If I get the chance to come back for another event, I'll definitely reconsider. read more

This place is massive and what a joy it was to there finally at the Dallas Comic Con Fan Expo. I got to meet great some of favorite voice artist and got Stan Lee autograph. I am sure the other events are equally awesome but this belong to the young at heart and nerds everywhere. Just what an awesome place to hold such an event. The only complaint I have is the limited seating some more seats around they event would be nice. read more

Came here for nationals volleyball last weekend and was not only thoroughly disappointed with the food choices in the "food court" (they only had pizza, hot dogs, and brisket) and when I finally decided I would have the brisket sandwich for dinner they were closing (it wasn't even 6 yet and there was clearly still food left). The man working at this station was about to let me eat and some obnoxious lady who must've been the supervisor shouted across this huge room "don't give it to her, only pizza is open!!!" are you kidding me? I brought my own food for the rest of the weekend and no one said anything. I was also disappointed that the water dispensers never had any water. The overall space was clean and well maintained which was nice. It also unfortunate that the parking lot on site is by day and no hourly options are available.. we chose to give our money to uber instead. read more

I am not a fan of this convention center. The convention center is not very accommodating for exhibitors. I do not look forward in exhibiting here because the parking garage is so far away from the trade show floor making it very difficult to haul all of the show items at one time. read more

Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center is a decent sized convention center but parking is awful. I attended a natural hair event here recently (shout out to Bella Kinks) and had to park far far away. Maybe that's just a Dallas thing. The building itself and layout is not very user friendly from the outside. Luckily I stumbled upon a lady who was volunteering at the convention center who was able to guide me in the right direction or I would've been wandering aimlessly and been late to the event. Once I was inside, the space was massive and great for holding large scale events. I would come back to events hosted here but with minimal expectations for parking and safety, especially at night. read more

It's big, relatively clean, and well laid out. There's a nice outdoor seating area at the far end of the upper floor. The shuttle bus to and from the hotels was adequate, and the taxi line moved quickly. However, the concessions offered were nothing special. In fact, since I have a food allergy, there was nothing safe for me to eat. So, I either had to bring food in - not ideal when traveling out of town - or find a nearby restaurant. Instead, I opted for a large breakfast at the hotel to tide me over during the show hours. read more

We came here for some World League Volleyball. We saw Korea vs. Italy and the USA vs. France. To watch both games it was $25/person. The venue is terrific. We bought general admission tickets which means you had to sit on the upper level. We sat in the first row and it was just fine. It would have been nicer to sit on the lower level or down on the floor seating, but upper level wasn't far and you could still see the action without binoculars or having to squint. The food was a bit pricey but it's to be expected when you're at a venue like this. The games were terrific. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to spend 5 hours watching some fantastic volleyball. The Dallas Convention Center itself is huge. There are like 6 different halls so make sure you know which one you're going to. We went to E and found out it was at A so it took us a good 10 minute walk. Parking can be a bear, but we managed to park fairly close for $12. read more

I just attended the ACE Spring 2018 Hardware Show at this convention center and had a wonderful experience. The venue is very modern and clean, with luminous spaces and a great view of the Chicago landscape. The bathrooms are a bit outdated but otherwise clean and the venue is very well connected with the city center... For those who are not afraid to walk it's a 20 minutes walk to the Financial District. There are not many food options but I found that the 'Go Natural" restaurant had great healthy food at very reasonable prices. Outside the venue there is a beautiful cemetery with the graves of the Dallas founders. Be aware: I took a taxi from this venue twice and both times the drivers did not turn on the meter when we began the trip, which resulted on a pricey ride. read more

Recently I participated at a trade show in this convention center. I have to say that everyone working at the center was easy to work with and had a positive attitude toward those of us with booths. The food was average from the concession stands and priced in line with most convention centers. The one issue I and others had was a men's room. Most of the toilets did not work. People were unaware the lock was broken on one of the stalls and would get trapped and have to get help getting out. Then 2 of the 6 urinals were covered by trash bags. One of the sinks was completely missing from the wall! It looked like something in an abandoned building. Nice place, just big on deferred maintenance. read more

Lauren is correct - The Dallas Convention Area is huge and the concessions are totally overpriced. Parking down there is expensive, and if you want to walk to a place to eat, there is nothing close by. However, the DART Rail does stop there, so you can hop a train to the West End to grab lunch and be back in time for your next meeting. The DCC also has some quirky merits in it's back pocket. For starters, DCC employees will sometimes have sex in the payphone area and the service elevator. A coworker of mine happened to walk in to the phone area and bust a couple, their DCC uniforms half on, engaged in copulation. As a courtesy, I suggest talking or coughing loudly before entering any area. Also, the windows will periodically be shot out in random drive-bys. As a pirate, I encourage and partake in vandalizing, but not when my tax dollars have to be funneled towards repairing it. There is 24 hour security at the DCC, so it's a lucky thing no one has been injured or killed in these shootings. Lastly, employees and security have told me that they think the Convention Center is haunted, and employees have sometimes heard or seen things late at night. I always thought they just heard people having sex, since that seems to go on there quite a bit, but when I was doing research about the adjacent Pioneer Park Cemetery, I discovered that the DCC is partly build over a burial ground. Therefore, any strange sightings or noises have an equal chance of being shagging employees or ghosts. Uh uh uh does sound a lot like oooooo ooooooo ooooooo. read more

I just came from a convention here for Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices in Dallas. It was a large convention and this place easily accommodated us all nicely. The convention center is very clean and most of the rooms are large. We had a Exhibit Hall, a HUGE meeting facility and plenty of classrooms. It's a good place to have a convention. If you do come to a convention here, I recommend staying in the Omni Hotel. It's connected to the Convention Center. read more

I've been here many a times and always for the Dallas Auto Show. It's a nice place, has really convenient access to the Dart Rail, and the rest of downtown Dallas. I just love the new car smell that fills this place. However, there were certain spots, where when not even near the restrooms, we smelled urine. I don't even want to know. Well, maybe a kid couldn't hold it any longer due to his dad having too much penis envy? Maybe a dealership wanted to sabotage their rival by associating a car viewing experience with a negative sense of smell? Maybe a guy got lost trying to get here and by time he did he was covered in sweat and had really bad BO? There were a bunch of new cars, a few concept cars, and some classic cars from car clubs. The few concept cars that they were showcasing seemed a little weak. I think in light of current times they're gonna have trouble producing bad ass prototypes if they aren't at least in some way using green technology. The classic cars are just old school luv'n. Bless those guys that spend their off time restoring those beauties. :') read more

This facility is becoming quite run down. How this building achieved LEED silver status while having the parking garage open up right next to the main lobby of building I'll never figure out. You get exhaust fumes coming in when there is a lot of traffic in there. Some of the convention rooms have the moveable partitions and all the classrooms I was in had the ceiling tiles missing/mismatched/broken/or any condition other than properly maintained. Looked very tacky. Parking is $15 a day which is absurd to me but not familiar with the area enough to know my other options. If I were Ms. Senator Hutchison I'd strongly consider asking if they could remove my name from this building unless they are going to repair it. read more

They hosted Wrestlemania Axxess. They have a big enough convention area to hold 9,000 people for NXT Takeover. Enough said. :) Okay, for real. It was clean inside. The bathrooms weren't gross. Navigation in this center was fairly easy. It was big enough to host such a big event but not too big that it was like a maze. read more

It's massive that's for sure! However very easy to get to and plenty of spots for parking in the area. I prefer to pay the fee and leave my car in their parking garage as it's so easy to just lock up and go. I've been here many times...usually for the Dallas Marathon Health and Fitness expo, and the events held here are always extremely organized. A very subtle main entrance that has an overhang connected to it, making it feel a bit dungeony when entering. It does open up nicely once you walk in, however. The way the entrance is positioned, its to the side. I'm beginning to realize that every convention hall has similar mandates that make it seem impossible to reach the exit door when 10,000 people are all scrambling out for lunch. There are closer doors, but I suppose due to fire codes or something, they have to remain shut. As such, everyone had to use certain doors that required us to walk further, and allow less people through at a time. I'm sure there is some logic behind this, because I've seen this at other convention halls as well, but it doesn't make for a pleasant experience when you're crammed with 10,000 hungry people. Everything feels like a bit of a hike - there is a Starbucks on the premises inside the building, but is quite a long walk. The relief was that in the late afternoon, they were still open. There is a nice view outside from this area. The convention center has some food options, and you could walk to the hotel that is connected via corridor as well. Pretty much everything gets crowded if you have a large event at the convention center. There are some tables and chairs in the lobby and hallways but not nearly enough if you have a large crowd. The halls themselves ere adequate - nothing remarkable, good or bad, stood out either way. Thankfully parking was not an issue although I suspect it could be depending on the size of your event. We arrived early and parked across the street. Was the price to park a rip off? Yes...but it goes with the territory for these types of situations. read more

Attended the NFL Experience here during the Super Bowl last week on two occasions. Man, what a large facility! Lookin' back, there were even areas of the event I almost missed. Love the fact the Dart rail stops right there which saved me on having to pay $10-$20 for parking. My only other previous time here was during the NBA Allstar game where I attended a similiar event. Overall my experience here was nice. Got my 15 minutes of fame by appearing on the NFL Networks telecast in the background. Met the actor Morris Chestnut during a celebrity flag-football game who surprisingly commented on being an Eagles fan while acknowledging my Mike Vick jersey..gotta give him props for that!! Got within a few feet of actress Vivica Fox and I have to say I was not impressed, but Regina King on the other hand, OH YEAH!!! She's 'hot' and pretty athletic. Jermaine Dupri is really a small dude....makes you wonder what Janet Jackson was thinking....I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'. read more

Lights All Night...a two day rave done RIGHT. Very well ventilated (as in COLD) which is ideal when you are dancing for 8 hours. And possibly doing extracurriculars that may raise your body temperature. WATER = $1.50. THANK GOD, finally. Water that isn't $5 a bottle! Cocktails apparently were expensive. I didn't drink here, so who knows. They did rope us all off into a 21+ area with wristbands if we wanted to drink (which my friends did)...but I found I had a ton of room to myself and danced like a FOOL. The lights were "meh". So much room in the dance hall...they could've really utilized the space better. No lazers (save for LBL I think? and in the bass hall). Bass Hall's sound system...oh my GAHHH. Bass in my face, chest, through the floor and through my FEET. Ahhhhhhhh. We stayed at the Omni, so the trek here was short. Security wasn't even bad, though they did a serious frisking. I've never had my fluffies felt up. However, if it keeps the bad stuff out, more power to them. I'll be back next year. Just up the light show! read more

It is, as one might think, a sprawling tome to the convention, and as such is at its core a several story deep spot where precisely those types of events happen: we popped in here last weekend for the DFW car show, and while there are a number of things that work well here, there clearly are some bumps to be had all the same. Others have suggested that taking the DART might be the best route to getting here, and that seems a logical argument to me: I found a spot several blocks away, but by the time that you hoof it over and deal with some of the sketchy element hanging around downtown Dallas, hopping straight off the rail sounds pretty appealing by comparison. Once inside, as with most convention centers, if you've seen one you've seen most of em, but there's plenty of space here, and it plays actually somewhat deceptively large - it was easy to get around (although note if you need the elevator, they're pretty tiny), and logistically the center was set up logically. Ramps abound for those who need em, and even on car show day, there was room to move about. I wouldn't say this place dazzles the senses, but it's yeoman-like in its utility. read more
