I didn't know much about the difference between jewelers until I stopped into this Kay Jewelers. My girlfriend and I moved into town about six months ago and needed to get a ring fixed. The ring was purchased in a different city but from a Kays. That first day set the tone for our continued business at this Kays location. About a month ago we were in looking at watches and my girlfriend picked one out that she liked. The young lady that works there asked us if we would like to put it on our wish list in our account. We said yes not thinking much of it. I decided to purchase the watch for my girlfriend for Valentines Day but couldn't remember which model it was that she liked. I walked in the store today (2/4) to purchase the watch. The wish list on our account was so helpful to me, I was able to get exactly what she wanted. I needed a spring bar replaced on my watch band....I have had this done dozens of times all over the country....and jewelers usually do it for free because it takes two minutes and costs them penny's, so as a courtesy I asked them to replace the battery while you are at it....wanted them to make a little money....anyway....I waited a few minutes and got a new battery but no spring bar....so I paid them $15 for a battery I did not need and still have my watch in my pocket and not on my wrist....seems a bit crooked to me....should have said We don't have the spring bar and asked if I still wanted the battery replaced. It was from the man I loved so it meant everything to me. He picked it out on his own and worked so many hard hours to pay for it... 2 years later it broke (which speaks on the quality Kay sells) they said it needed to be shipped off to be fixed. Little did I know I would never see it again because "it was lost in the mail" . Careless and irresponsible. A big company name like this should have prevention measures in place. My husband bought me an anniversary band with diamonds for our 25th wedding anniversary a few years ago. With the lifetime warranty I need to have it inspected every 6months which I do. This last inspection the ring needed to have a diamond replaced (at no charge) and the employee suggested that instead of using the bar so the ring isn't so loose to have it fixed properly. I agreed and off the ring went. The ring came back and I couldn't get it over my knuckle! grrrrr. Steve said they will send it back expediting the service since it was incorrect. That was two weeks ago. When I called to inquire about my ring the young lady said that the service department is really busy. I said "what about expedited service" she said that with Mother's Day they were really busy! OMG, what customer service. I have been into this store multiple times for help with resizing my rings, cleaning, and repairs and have had nothing but amazing experiences with the manager and staff members. I originally bought my wedding ring/ring guard online during COVID and when I received it, it was missing a stone on the band. When their location finally opened back up i called and asked if they were doing repairs. At the time they were were on hold for repairs, but the manager made an exception to help me out and get my ring fixed! I recently went back a couple weeks ago to get my engagement ring resized and saudered together with my ring guard. It came back beautifully. I seriously can't thank them enough. Checked store hours online before dragging myself towards town to pick up a couple of special stocking stuffers. Of course the store is closed!!! Online it said open until 9pm on the door it says 8pm and we were there around 7:45pm. So I tried to call because there were employees still in the store that just stared at us when we tried to open the door. No one answered the phone. It just rang and rang until a busy signal comes on and then hangs up. I won't be back to shop at this store. It's so frustrating the way stores do business these days... I just saw another review with my same complaint to a tee written 2 months ago. irst and foremost, Kay Jewelers is a serious rip off. They will charge you for everything. Upgrading your diamond? Its not going to be dollar for dollar. It has to be whatever the cost of the original ×2 and they won't let you do it unless you spend extra for their premium insurance. They charge for EVERYTHING! (Bare in mind they "assured" me when my husband bought my ring, that repairs and things like white gold touch up would be covered for the life of the ring.) The only thing they don't charge for is the cleanings they do with hot water and a toothbrush. Now, onto the Kay jewelers in Sparks (Disc Dr). My husband wanted to surprise me with a new wedding band on our Anniversary but lo and behold, the elderly lady and her manager were closing early so we went somewhere else and decided to upgrade my entire bridal set. That wasn't even the worst part (honestly, I am super grateful that they closed early as I wouldnt want to give that lady any kind of commission or Kay my business.) I went in the next day to have my original wedding ring cleaned and inquire about having the white gold touched up. The elderly lady was quick to point out that I had a bent prong and and that my ring was not covered for any repairs since I didn't have their premium insurance or whatever. I was told that they wouldn't fix the one prong but had to fix all four even though only one was bent (to the tune of approximately $125.00 or $46.00 for the first prong and $26.00 for each additional prong.) The white gold touch up would be another $46.00 AND she took it upon herself to recommend a resizing because my ring was tight for an additional cost of yet another $46.00. I have some arthritis and was a bit puffy. Please don't go here. The diamonds are low quality at RIP off prices, customer service is severely lacking and they promise things that they never intend to honor. Go to a local jeweler, the quality and service will be infinitely better. That's where I'll be taking money for repairs. read more

My husband originally purchased my wedding set at Jared in South Reno. Because we live in Sparks we were excited that they were partners for Kay Jewelers so that we didn't have to go across town to have my rings inspected. Sadly I gained weight and was no longer able to get my rings off, despite all the "tricks' with Windex and strings and ice and whatever else. One morning I realized that I was missing a small diamond in the outer setting and I went into Kay and the wonderful Jen was able to keep me calm while cutting off my ring. They were able to get the rings off and give me a great price to replace the lost diamond, tighten the setting and size the ring for me. The ring came back in time and they had done a wonderful job with it. They have a very happy customer here and I will continue to go back. read more

If I could rate 0, I would. My boyfriend purchased a promise ring here WITH THE WARRANTY. My puppy got a hold of my ring a few months ago, and the band was misshapen. Since we had the warranty, we brought the ring in and they reshaped it and fixed it over a ~2 weeks time. Everything was fine. My boyfriend and I went in to purchase an engagement ring to the same location. I originally thought a diamond on my promise ring was missing, so we tried to do a "two birds, one stone" deal. The worker looked at my ring and said I was DEFINITELY missing a diamond. However, the warranty was invalid because them taking my ring and reshaping it and pictures of it didn't count as an "inspection." Okay, so my boyfriend asks how much it would cost to fix it. The manager (I'm assuming) was asked, and within earshot of us, she said "it costs the store $20 to fix and $40 is what we charge." Boyfriend asks "So if I buy an engagement ring for a few thousand dollars, will you cover the price of fixing the promise ring?" She said no, but that we could purchase the warranty on the engagement ring. Needless to say we left. We went to Reno Diamond Vault and we told him about our experience. He was was willing to replace my Kay's promise ring diamond FOR FREE except that it actually wasn't missing one and it was just dirty. We bought an engagement ring there and he gave us a free warranty. I highly recommend the Reno Diamond Vault. Don't spend your money here! read more

It's a long story, so I'll get to the point, I feel that Sara the service manager tried her best and was the only redeeming part of my experience, but the corporate decision not to support the service of loose stones in my ring due to the invisible setting (which was not what needed work) was dismissive and inconsiderate. The woman running the store was in my opinion, very rude when she learned I was on a budget. Not everyone can afford your marked up diamonds!! My husband and son bought a necklace from this location for Valentine's Day. The chain broke within 2 weeks. I brought the chain and necklace back to the store and the sales person told me it would be $45.99 to replace the chain and they had to send it in. I shouldn't have to pay for another chain for a piece of jewelry I had for less than 2 weeks. I was very upset and took back the necklace and broken chain. The sales person, who was very matter of fact and not helpful, said they had other chains there in the store that I could buy that were about the same price which only added more insult to injury. I called customer service and they couldn't discuss anything with me because it wasn't my name on the sales receipt, even more infuriating. We have purchased thousands of dollars of jewelry there and now we will NEVER buy one more item there. Never give them one more dime. I was even considering buying a set of earrings I saw there while I was waiting. Kay has lost out of thousands of dollars in future purchases over $45.99 plus tax. After this experience, there product is over priced and sub parr. I would shop elsewhere if I where you and get a better experience, product and warranty. read more

I have nothing really bad to say about this jeweler :) My Girl and I were going into the store to look at rings to get ideas for each other because she wasn't sure what ring to get me. Even though we were only looking and not buying the workers were really friendly. They showed us all different options and told us about certain rings as well. It was great to know all the different types! I enjoyed how sweet they were about the whole thing and they weren't pushy about us getting a ring that day. If I could give you less stars, I would. Just copy and pasting my review from Facebook. It's been 8 weeks since I trusted you with my wedding bands to be soldered and dipped. My promise receive date on my yellow slip from you guys was October 6th, it is now November 15th, and yes I'm about to go into major detail about how much you guys have completely acted shady AF. I received a phone call from you guys on October 4 to call you back (I was out of town). When I got back into town on the 5th I figured, meh I'll just go in for my ring cuz I've missed them! I go in, and you guys are rummaging around and telling me you can't find it, then the manager is like ohhhhh you know what, we sent it back because a diamond was missing and it should be overnighted in the next day or two, cool I thought, thanks for handling that for me. Two days go by, I call you back, you say you'll call me back, and then I get a call that spiraled into exactly why I'm angry writing right now "I have some terrible news, we lost your wedding set". Over the next few weeks, you're telling me to wait because you're just waiting for my band. I call you every week, like clock work, because you guys don't have a care to call me and let me know any updates! I am promised a free replacement of my set and compensation (whatever that means, because no one bothers to let me know what is happening). I have been beyond patient and I'm over it. If I could have it my way, we would be compensated by giving us our money back and taking it somewhere else. My husband chose you guys to pick out an engagement ring, we chose you for my matching band and his band, we've been married less than two years and you guys manage to lose that symbol. In June 2016, I purchased a diamond wedding ring for my fiancee at Kay Jewelers. My wife and I frequently took the ring back to Kay's, as required, to check for loose diamonds. In a visit to Kay Jewelers in Meadowood Mall, Reno, NV on February 14th, 2016, Kay Jewelers told my wife and I that a diamond was loose, and that Kay's had to send my wife's wedding ring to their home office for tightening. After inquiring for several weeks as to when the ring would be returned (and outright lied to), Kay admitted that their entire shipment of rings had been "lost" during shipping. Kay's admitted no guilt, and showed no remorse or sensitivity. They told my wife that they could make her another one like it...just wait several weeks for ordering, shipping, etc., no big deal, one ring was the same as another. Myself and my wife are heartbroken. Kay Jewelers will not return our money, and we don't want a cheap "replacement", "lookalike" ring. Kay Jewelers is a cold, heartless, company, with employees just as heartless. Think before you give this corporation your hard-earned dollars. My husband and I have been using Kay for about a year and a half now since he got my engagement ring here we decided to purchase our wedding rings here too. You would think after spending thousands of dollars here you would get good customer service or even decent? I feel more of a burden to them and I haven't felt this way with any of the women that work there, just the men. When I called to see if our rings were done being sized (2.5 weeks later) I asked a couple questions and the man on the phone almost laughed at me when I had more than one question about the ring. I probably wouldn't recommend anyone to come here not only for customer service but for the fact it takes almost 3 weeks to get a ring sized or anything when you can go to most ring stores and they can do it in store there. Very upset with how much money we have spent here and the way we have been treated. Took a necklace in for repair. First the had the wrong email to inform me that my repair was in. I called them Second it came back repaired but it was not right had the manager feel it I said it's going to catch everything's and it did i said it won't work had a sharp edge and didn't match the other side that manager took 10.00 off. The team at the Kay's at the Galleria have my loyalty and trust. They ALWAYS treat me great. I am not a shopper but people in my life love jewelry. They did a great job with my custom ring. I loved my original Leo diamond rings from them as well. The custom ring turned out absolutely perfect. The service was not great. I actually sat for over 10 minutes without being greeted. When telling them what I wanted my ring to look like, we drew it up and they quoted us. But refused to give us a copy of the estimate or the receipt for the portion we paid. We wouldn't leave without it so we wouldn't get screwed. Turns out it was good we did that because in the end they tried to charge us more than the original estimate was for. The store manager was really good with us, and worked it all out for us. If not for her I'm not sure what we would have done. The original sales person actually told me I should sell my wedding ring back and just get a new one. It was terrible. Because we have a warranty on the original rings we had no other option as to where to go. At the end of the day, the jeweler did an amazing job. The Kay's in the Meadow Wood mall is gorgeous, everything looks so sparkly under all the lighting. The girls were beyond helpful! My husband was looking to upgrade my ring. I found one in there that I liked but couldn't afford. The jewelers Alyssa and Kellie mentioned that they did financing but I didn't want it. They offered layaway instead; so I can lock in my sale price. I made payments that way, and I am so happy I did! 5 months later the ring was $1,000 more! These girls are really knowledgeable. I went here to *just* get some batteries changed in a coupla watches. They could only service one, as the other was too high end for their store (Swiss made, something a small store like this was not authorized to handle). I was given the option of them sending it into their parent store somewhere for 3 weeks and I was like..."nah, I can find someone local" (which they would not suggest). So they quickly service one watch. I ask how much....like 8.99 or something, then I get asked for my personal contact information. Come on....most jewelry stores will do a battery for free to get your business, but if I am gonna pay for it and you want my info for a mailing/call/disrupt your life list, at least make the battery replacement complimentary. Anyway, I refused, and the person wasn't having none of that....but curiously, she said, "I don't want to fight you, just go....." or something like that. I offered to pay and was refused. So strangely I got half of what I wanted for free, but honestly, I wouldn't spend a dime on their made in China bulk manufactured, overpriced jewelry anyway. At least not with that attitude.
