DO NOT COME HERE. I had my wedding dress and my husband's jacket altered here. My wedding dress had very simple alterations, nothing complex. I came in 2 weeks later to measure for the bustle, and they had not done a thing. What was supposed to take a month, took almost 3. My husband's jacket was even worse. He had it taken in, hemmed and was supposed to have a button reattached. They told us no problem, it'll be done in a week. I kept calling them a week later, and they pushed me out. "It's almost done, there's just one little thing we noticed." They would tell me every time. A 1 week job took them over a month, with absolutely no communication. When I did finally get his jacket, they hadn't even reattached the button. I cannot stress how disappointed I am, you deserve much better read more

I felt that the alteration took too long, in that it was promised sooner. When we went to pick it up, it didn't properly fit my husband, even though they sized it themselves on him. We had to once more leave it, and it was promised a few days later with priority since they didn't size it correctly. The resizing took more than two times as long to complete. It was frustrating because the shop was a distance from us and we had to spend needless time traveling there. Also, the cost to alter a jacket was more than the jacket cost itself. read more

It was Monday morning I realized I needed to get off my ass and quick about a garment I'd need for an event I was to attend Friday evening. Frenzied Yelp search led me to Hill Country Alterations. I submitted an inquiry through Yelp's messaging system with my needs and was responded to very promptly, with the guarantee they could indeed sew my large patch onto my vest before the deadline. Exuberantly I bopped over after my shift concluded to drop it off and confirm what I needed done. The fellow was friendly and attentive. Paid up front, which was $18 for the job; seemed reasonable enough, I don't have a good idea what the going rate is for that kind of thing anymore what with recent inflation (while I could've given it a go myself at home, I didn't trust my sewing machine to not make a mess of it and it was an important piece of my whole costume). Provided by phone number so they could text me when it was ready. I received said text Friday early afternoon and was able to pick it up with plenty of time to spare. They did a solid job too. Got it on nice and straight, which working with spandex/vinyl can't've been easy. So yeah, highly recommend this place! read more

I dropped off a new jacket on Sept 1 for alterations and it was promised on Sept 9th. When I went to pick it up, the tailor who put it on me didn't like the way it fit. He wanted to keep it to make further alterations, as it was drooping on the shoulders. I was told it would be just a few days since it was their fault and they've had it. I called a few times and it wasn't ready. Today, the 27th, I received a text that it was ready to pick up. It took 27 days, rather than the 7 days promised. That's too long. I found Hill Country Alter when they responded to a Yelp quote. Their quote was $45., but ended up being close to $100. The original coat's cost was $90.00. The location is far from IH-35 and the inner workings of Kyle. read more

I dropped a pair of pants, a blazer with buttons and a dress to be altered. The pants and dress came out great. When I picked up the items, I noticed the jacket sleeve had fabric hanging out of the arm hole. The gentleman fixed it right away. I noticed right then and there that the buttons from the sleeves were gone but I wasn't in the mood to haggle. When I got home, I found the buttons safety pinned to the jacket. I called to ask why the jacket was not finished and I was given a story about how another jacket was also brought in for alterations and they got mixed up. I got pretty excited when I was told they could pick up the jacket from me, fix it, and bring it back to me. I was told by the same gentleman who I picked up the items from that he would call me back to arrange a pick up time. It's been over a week and I have not received a phone call. And my jacket is still messed up. I'm on the fence about whether or not I would use this company again. read more

I rarely post bad reviews and try to give the benefit of doubt to most businesses especially small mom and pop ones. But my experience at this place was truly horrendous. I originally had a bridemaids gown That took 4-5 alteration visits to fit. They were able to get it done in time so I was like ok whatever and fit pretty well. Then I had a pair of Reformation jeans that were way too big on me. Comically big so I was wanted them to be taken in. They took it in so much I couldn't zip up the pants and didn't leave enough fabric to be able to let it out. I was understanding about it when they said they could remake those jeans. I went in September for that. It's now fricking Jan 1st and despite multiple and I mean multiple fittings to get that rolling it hasn't progressed. This place is a joke. I showed up and someone told me they weren't ready despite getting a text. The tailor came and I tried on the same pants with no progress from the last time. A complete waste of my time. They offered to drop it off but I wasn't comfortable with a random person knowing where I lived. The guy is clearly burnt out and doesn't know what he's doing. Haven't heard anything since. I had a very mixed experience here. While the alterations they made were amazing and my wedding dress fit PERFECTLY, I ran into some similar issues as other Yelp reviews have mentioned below. I had multiple appointments set up that were re-scheduled or cancelled which was frustrating and ended up pushing my pick up date a few times. I ended up picking up my dress the evening before I was leaving for my wedding which just added to the stress!! However, everyone I worked with was very nice and as I mentioned, the alterations really were perfect and my dress fit beautifully. They were also reasonably priced and did not charge for some additional work needed due to their re-scheduling. read more

I took my wedding dress to get altered into a 50s style dress I could wear again. In March of 2020. I also took other dresses to add pockets and straps to them. They did good with the small dresses. My wedding dress however I have back in pieces after 4 years. Yes I missed an appointment here and there for a fitting but I also made it to multiple where I was told they weren't in the shop, or they were at another fitting somewhere else or they forgot. It wasn't an urgent alteration when I took it in but later it was as I wanted to wear for my 15yr anniversary. They had to pull it out of storage as they had moved locations. They told me they'd have it ready and just needed to attach the skirt. Then night of pickup, they said it was cut and they had to get new material to try and match it. I would try calling and texting and when I'd finally just go to the shop they'd tell me their "system is glitching" I finally asked for refund and my dress back. When I got them they had only done the bodice which is all they had completed 2 year prior. Told me they'd have to get me my money later as they didn't have it on them ( I prepaid most of the cost) when they took it to my house they said they wanted to still complete the dress out of "good faith" I shouldn't have let them. I then started medical treatments, became pregnant, had my very premature twins, went back and forth to NICU for months, so I wasn't worried about my dress. Eventually I'd try calling and texting again and got the same excuse. After 4 years I still got the dress in the scraps and only bodice partially together. What's worse is he tried to make it sound like it was all my fault. No I do not recommend. read more

I couldn't find anyone to do my alterations. A local laundry chain (who I won't mention by name because they do good work otherwise) said they just send them out and they were really expensive ($30 a pair for my shorts). They also do not even let you use their bathroom to get the fit (you cannot pin something at home and expect it to hold). Whereas Hill Country got back to me right away. Not only do they have one but TWO fitting rooms to get the alteration set. I had my fingers crossed just to not pay more than $100 for my five items and it was only $63, and a couple days sooner than they promised. They did really good work at a much more affordable cost than anyone else (about half the cost). Warning if you go in the afternoon traffic is a mess getting out there so try to get there before the 2001 traffic hits. Definitely happy to go back and after all those years find someone who can alter my clothes! read more

I had to rush to get my dress altered due to last second purchasing! I was worried I wouldn't find somewhere to get it done. I called and the gentleman on the phone assured me he could get it done in 24 hours. 24 hours later we arrive and it's the PERFECT length! Still long like I wanted but not enough for me to trip or be concerned about! If you want somewhere that not only cares about the customer but goes above and beyond this is the place!
