That kind of attention to what reefers actually need goes a long way. Their coral selection is also on another level. They consistently have more unique pieces than just about anywhere else I've seen, which makes it a great place to find something different and add real character to your tank. The reply back was, "Yes, we have in stock." So the next day I drive all the way from the Central Valley to check out their Shubunkin stock. To my dismay, I'm told by an older man at the back store that they don't have any Shubunkin goldfish. I told him that I emailed Hank and he said you had them. The man then tried to sell us on Koi, but we told him we specifically need Shubunkin since we have many plants in our pond and the Koi would eat them, that's why we specifically are looking for Shubunkin goldfish. He then directed us to some Comet goldfish but not what we were looking for. Tried to look at the plants and other fish but the thought of me being lied to and driving that distance from the Central Valley was too much, so we left. This company was deceitful just to lure us into their facility. If they could lie about a simple straight forward question what other things would they lie about just to get you to buy something. Would not go back again! Will be searching for a trustworthy Shubunkin goldfish dealer elsewhere. What a way to deceive a potential customer.

Check-in took five minutes; they set her up in a great, spacious tank with a lamp and fresh bark, and we left her with a packed lunch of greens and Mazuri from home. When we picked her up, Brandon and Ryan gave us the daily report. Turns out, Smalls spent her vacation roaming the store and occasionally trying to bust out through the back door. Luckily, the staff has excellent reflexes and stopped her escape attempts. Smalls was well-loved, well-fed, and safely contained. 10/10 would board our tiny criminal here again. This review is describing my experience with everything pet bird related at this store: cage, food,…read moretoy selection; cleanliness and organization; and the worst part--that they sell birds. Not only do they sell birds, but they house the birds in a tiny, cramped, windowless room in tiny cages, with one fluorescent ceiling light and what appears to be no human interaction or fresh air or appropriate light. The room is about the size of my bedroom, and there are cages stacked to the ceiling full of birds, but the cages are tiny. Back when I didn't know any better in the '90s, I purchased two parrots from pet stores, as "hand-raised babies," but those stores had all the birds in appropriately sized cages with sunlight and lots of toys and out time with visitors if you sanitized your hands. They felt out the potential owners and didn't sell birds to just anyone. Now I know better, as I volunteer with a local parrot rescue that has to turn away hundreds of unwanted pet birds a year on top of the hundreds they take in. One of those volunteer duties is doing home visits for the adoption applicants, and one took me this week to near this store, and the applicant told me about it and showed me this terrible-looking seed mix they purchased there for pets. So I stopped by this store to see what/why they were selling, and the sad and crowded windowless bird-commodity room made me cry. I left in tears. I had first browsed the shelves for toys and food, and I found the shelves unorganized, out of stock on several items, and the floors dirty. Plus a cat running around. And the cages they were selling were all tiny as well. Here's something significant and equally emotional. Under "pets" on the front page of their website, they strongly encourage adopting from shelters for dogs and cats. SO WHY NOT BIRDS? Birds live longer, are more complicated, are often more intelligent and with more complex needs, and our rescues are overrun! WHY?!?! (Profit! And it's terrible.) This is their own words--why don't they believe this for birds??!! They should contact every rescue on the West Coast and find out how overrun we are. "We have in stock a selection of small pets which include birds, fish, rodents, reptiles, amphibians, and arachnids. If you are looking for a pet kitty or pooch, we HIGHLY urge you to check out the local shelter where there are great animals looking for loving homes. We never touched or picked up a single item, yet it felt like we were being treated with suspicion for no reason. There were about 10 other people in the store, yet the focus seemed to be on a dad and his 7-year-old daughter. It made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Because of that experience, we left the store and will never return.
