Stopped in for lunch to try their Vietnamese menu. The business has very limited seating first of all. We found the inside to be very clean, and the waitress greeted us friendly. The menu is limited but what was offered was adequate. We made our order and received it in a fair amount of time. Honestly, we enjoyed our meal of what we had. Just beware because the amount of food we felt was rather small and the prices way too high. This is my favorite vietnamese place I've ever been to. Kay is so welcoming and works really hard to make delicious food. It's a little more expensive but you can tell the ingredients are fresh and high quality so it's worth it. I love the banh mi and the pho ga. They also have delicious boba tea! I had high hopes of finding a new pho place. First off, it's kind of like a panera type place- you order at the restaurant, then you get your food at a window and then bus your own tray when you're done. I'll echo other reviews that said it's overpriced. Every item seemed to be a couple dollars more than other pho places I've been too and the portions seem smaller. Also, the Vietnamese coffee did not taste like real Vietnamese coffee. It was more like coffee with a lot of cream- not at all what I was expecting and the cost is more than even a Starbucks. I didn't think I did, but I must have had high hopes, because I was a bit disappointed. Not to say everything was bad, but not everything was good either. First off, the place is clean and organized. Ventilation must be controlled very well since I didn't smell any off-putting restaurant odor. You can tell the place is pretty new, and has not been run down. It's not a sit-down diner with wait staff, but more of a cafeteria-style place, where you order food at the counter and wait for your number to be called. You know, the food-court style set up. I don't mind the setup so much since it could be very efficient especially during busy times. I was the first one in at the beginning of dinner so it didn't matter to me much. I tried three different items: - Pho: There's only one variance of it, if you want beef pho. I'm used to being able to customize it to let's say, rare steak only, or combo of meatball and tendon, etc. They only had one that had "everything" on it. I asked them if I could have mine with only briskets, which she seemed happily compliant. At the end though, I ended up only with sliced steak pieces; *not* briskets. Reading the menu again later, I realized they didn't even have briskets as part of their offering to begin with. I feel like it should have been explained to me they don't have briskets at the time of order, but again, no points were taken off because of this. All the usual condiments and toppings are served inside the dish and not on the side. I usually like to control what I put inside my soup. Broth had a very crisp and clean taste to them. Not bad, but I personally think it lacked a bit of depth. - Eggrolls (fried): You get two relatively large pieces of rolls with dipping sauce. Sauce was okay but a bit bland. I'm gonna touch on this later, but it was $10 for two eggrolls. *FIVE BUCKS for A EGGROLL* - Bun cha: This was the highlight for me. For one, not a lot of Vietnamese restaurants have this on their menus, even though I think it's one of the simplest items to carry. The dish consists of cooked rice noodles, combination of fresh and picked veggies, grilled meat and some dipping sauce. Of course, the secrets lie on the seasons of protein and the dipping sauce. But still, I feel like it should be offered at more places. Anyway, KT got this one absolutely right. Pork had a good amount of char to it, and the dipping sauce was magic. Veggies were both fresh and seasoned well. If I come back, it would be for this specific dish. The biggest thing for me is how expensive they are. I get that inflation is causing this problem everywhere, but a rough dish-by-dish comparison tells me they're a good 25% more expensive than competitors. They don't use any wait staff, so I'm 100% convinced why they would have to charge more than competitors for offering less. I saw that their banh mi was priced for more than $10. As much as I want to try them, I'm not sure if I'm okay with that price point. For the time being, only reason I might come back is to try the banh mi and/or the bun cha dish I explained above. Okay so ever since moving from CA to OH, I've been fairly disappointed with my food options. Not gonna lie, I struggled to find places to eat that met my food cravings from home. That's is... until I found Kay's. Her dishes have Hmong, Vietnamese, Thai, and Chinese influences and are her interpretations of common dishes found in these different cultures. My favorites are her dumpling soup, beef pho, banh mi, and this other soup... I forget what it's called but it had pigs blood (lol be open minded it's good!). So basically I like her soups. A lot. Her "summer rolls" (which we call "spring rolls" in CA) are also amazing. I wish they weren't seasonal. Kay is also very mindful of dietary restrictions so a lot of her menu items can be modified or made gluten free. As someone with dietary restrictions, I appreciate that type of consideration when a chef creates their menu. Her food is made with natural ingredients and tastes like elevated homemade food. Kay herself is a sweetheart and I'm all for supporting local small businesses. Time permitting, she usually will come to the tables herself and chat with the diners to ask for feedback (+ just to chit chat). Really adds a personal touch to your dining experience lol. I get takeout from this restaurant regularly and recently tried dining in. It was a gloomy day outside and perfect for soup. I got my favorite, pho ga, and my husband got the Tom Yum. We came in tonight for birthday dinner and wow. The food is so good!!!! I worked for a Vietnamese family years ago and since then I've been on the hunt for pho that even come close. Well winner winner Vietnamese chicken dinner I found it. We ordered some of everything. There were four of us, and we were celebrating two birthdays. We decided to try someplace new. It did not disappoint. The owner came out and she is LOVELY. You can tell she really loves what she's doing, She talked so passionately about the farm to table ingredients that she gets locally. The beef is mooing a week before it hits the pot. You can't get fresher food. The Bahn Mi was so good- I highly recommend the bbq pork Bahn Mi. That fresh cilantro sets it off! It's a very very big portion. We split it between two people and still brought some home. Kay hand makes the spring rolls and all the dipping sauces. We ordered the pho and the shrimp curry fried rice. We were not too happy about the overall experience. The pho: there is very little meat for a dish that costs $14. In other pho restaurants, they give you a lot of sprouts, jalapeños, basil on the side. There is only a few sprigs of thai basil, maybe 1-2 leaves. The soup was overwhelmed with sourness, maybe a little too much lime juice in it but it also lacked a sense of savoriness and sweetness of a good pho. The shrimp curry fried rice: the rice had no texture and was goey. The spicyness was good for what it was but there was absolutely no savoryness in the dish. (Or flavor in that matter) The shrimp was added in with the tails and when you ate the rice with the shrimp, you have to spit out the tails. Is this really necessary? The tailed in shrimp is literally caked in the goey rice, this is pretty disgusting. I could not finish this dish. The surprising thing is that the owner actually checked in on us. I'm not the type of person to ask for refunds or replacements and this is no exception. However, when I give you an honest review on the dish, responding with "this is how I cook it" isn't the most flattering response. Many people don't just dine out for the good food, but the experience that eating out provides. At the very least offer to make it right. Definetly not coming back. read more

We were unaware that such a gem existed so close! We have tried a few Vietnamese restaurants around Toledo and while their food was pretty good, the locations and structures were sketchy. We got the bbq pork banh mi and pho bo. The flavors were subtle and not overpowering westernized flavors. As another reviewer said, the prices are a little much, but you get what you pay for and we will certainly be returning to treat ourselves to some delicious Vietnamese food! Was in town for the week on a business trip with my fiancé and decided to try a local Vietnamese restaurant. I normally don't take the time to go write reviews, even for bad experiences -- but this one was so terrible that I had to create an account just to leave a review. My fiancé ordered a XL Pho Bo, I ordered a Bun Cha. Here's our review for the night (but stick around, it gets much worse than the food) $17.25 - Pho Bo XL (Rating: 2/10) - Overpriced and bland, but still edible. Definitely not authentic. About as good as an instant pho you can buy at the store (the difference being the price), just throw in some onions and bean sprouts and you have more or less the same thing. If you spent 20 years perfecting this pho like it was mentioned in replies to other reviews -- I'm afraid 20-40 more years may be needed. $16.99 - Bun Cha w/ Lemon Grass Pork (Rating: 0/10) - Where do I even start with this? The other review regarding the terrible Bun Cha is pretty much spot on. The "grilled" pork was definitely not grilled, it tasted and looked like it has been boiled. The pork was terribly dry and there was absolutely no lemongrass flavor. The pork had no lemon grass taste at all. Owner (Rating: 0.1/10) Allow me to explain the rating. I was born and spent the first half of my life in Vietnam and have NEVER seen Bun Cha that looked like this, not in the States, not back in Vietnam. The owner came around to ask us how everything was. I mentioned that the Bun Cha was so-so (instead of terrible, just to be polite), and she (the owner) got VERY defensive. She talked for a good 10-15 minutes non-stop. These were some of the things that the owner mentioned after my ONE comment that my Bun Cha was "so-so": - That she knows that Bun Cha is usually pork meat balls, but she decided to use thinly sliced grilled pork because that's the way she has always made it. - She makes the Bun Cha the way she makes it because that's the way her husband (who is an ER Doctor, she had to make sure EVERYONE knew that) asked her to make it. - That's why she didn't call this place "Pho of Vietnam," instead she called it "Kay's Table" because this is HER table and this is her creation, and this is her twist on food (which is fine, but it seems in her response to other reviews, she thinks her food is authentic and that others don't know what they're talking about). - She doesn't use pork meat balls, instead uses thinly sliced pork because there's a lot of muslims in the area, and they will call asking her what the meat is and how it is prepared. (Why was this even mentioned? Whether it is a pork meatball or thinly sliced pork.. a person of muslim religion would not order this dish no matter how the pork is prepared) - She cooks for husband's family (which she AGAIN had to make sure that we know that they're all physicians) all the time and they all love her food. - She does not use bonemarrow and oxtail in her pho broth and msg in her broth because she wants to make it less fatty and healthier (but when I got home.. I see that she replied to another reviewer that she does indeed uses "high quality bone broth from the freshest beef femur bones," which one is it, mam? Do you use bone marrow or do you not?) - She cooks for husbands friends (which are all physicians -- again she had to make sure it was known) and they all love her food, like to eat healthy and they don't like all the fats and oils, and that's why she makes her food the way she does. She had to spend 10-15 minutes at our table explaining herself and rambling on and on. Then came back later and offered a refund for the Bun Cha, to which I said it was okay, and is not necessary (because my biggest issue is not her food, I can deal with bad food, but it was the way she responded). She still however left the cash on our table to refund us for the bun cha and came back to say "she doesn't want us to leave unhappy and leave a bad review). The owner CANNOT take feedback, so I don't understand why she would walk around and ask for feedback. Relax a little bit, take feedback and move on -- there's no need to spend 10-15 minutes at a customers table rambling on to try to justify bland terrible food. Ability to take feedback -- 0/10 Arrogance -- 10/10 Owner's customer service skills -- 0/10 Chance that I will remember that her family, all their friends, etc., are doctors. Would have given this a 10/10 if only she mentioned it 2-3 times more. -- 9/10 Bad food can be overlooked, the way the owner carried herself cannot be. Would definitely think twice if you were thinking about eating here. If you do decide to eat here, make sure you praise her food, because anything less than praise would have her at your table for 10+ minutes because her pride is just so high. read more

I have had both dishes often in Portland and San Francisco and the food here is every bit as good. We had such an amazing experience on Saturday. We actually were headed somewhere else but stopped in to Kay's and it was the best choice we could have made. The three of us dined in and we're all impressed and our food was delicious. I had the Crispy gochujang chicken and a honeydew bubble tea. If you love spice I recommend this dish. It was filled with so much flavor and the crispy chicken was top notch. The bubble tea was perfect with the heat. Kay is the sweetest and she came out to greet us and see how we enjoyed her food. This really was the inspiration to me writing this review because of how much she cared and her passion for her food and telling us how to eat it and how much love she poured into it. You really do not get service like this much anymore so it was definitely heartwarming. Thank you Kay and your amazing team for such a great dining experience. My wife and I have lived in several large cities with thriving Asian communities and extensive culinary offerings. The food at Kay's Table -- in a strip mall in Sylvania, Ohio -- is better. Hands down. Fusing Vietnamese, Hmong, and Thai influences, the flavors stand out through their intentional subtlety. At so many "authentic" restaurants the chefs seem to turn every spice up to 11, making dishes an over-the-top caricature of their original form. Not Kay. She finds just the right flavor combination in everything she does -- such as the pho ga (chicken pho), the summer rolls with peanut sauce, and the banh hoi (lemongrass marinated pork), just to name a few. We are so fortunate to have this place just a few minutes from home. The food is exquisite and made with love. We needed a different type of restaurant and cuisine in Toledo/Sylvania.  The quality for the price is a great value.  The Pho, vermicelli, spring rolls are musts. The Vietnamese coffee is incredible.. I order 2 at a time because i can't make it out of the parking lot before I finish it. I've been searching for good Boba for years.  The milk tea has the best Boba I have found and it's dairy free.  I love it.  I can't wait to see how this place evolves . read more
