Service was so genuine, friendly, and warm. You seat yourself, look at the menu from the QR code, and you go up to place your order and pay. Tip isn't being asked. When I asked her how I can leave a tip (because there was no option to), she explained that this is a self-serve place, so tip is not needed. The stores at the airport even asks for tip, so I was pleasantly surprised and appreciated the notion. I ordered their pho dac biet. I was asked if I wanted a lot of noodles or not. I was taken aback by the question, so I told her just the normal amount is fine. She then shares that their portion is not big which is what she asks all her customers when they order pho. The bowl was quite sad looking, lacked green onions, cilantro, meats, and no kidding on the noodles. The broth was clean but lacked that beefy richness. I can't even begin to explain how long my husband has been trying to get me to try a bahn mi. I finally succumbed and last Monday he brought me here to finally give it a shot. Well, we are back tonight one week later lol. We get the number 2. No cilantro for me (unfortunately have the soap taste gene) and it's SO GOOD. Everyone is super kind and sandwiches are delicious. Bánh mì is one of my favorite sandwiches. It's hard to find in metro Detroit except for a few places. Madison Heights has the best bánh mì restaurants. I've found two on the west side of town - Ginger Deli in Ann Arbor and K&D Bistro in Ypsilanti. K&D Bistro is spacious and clean. Takeout was not a long wait, maybe around 10 minutes. The bánh mì was okay. The size was slightly smaller and less stuffed than bánh mì I've tried elsewhere. There wasn't a lot of meat either and the quality of the meat wasn't the best I've had. The bánh mì I had at Ginger Deli was larger and had good quality meat and more of it. I give my bánh mì at K&D Bistro three stars. read more

My friends were over here and they asked what I wanted. I said Banh Mi please. So they did. Banh Mi: Flavors were spot on,, the bread was a little different. The restaurant is more of a cafeteria style where you go up to the register to order and pay and then you bus your own table you're done. I also love that the pho comes in cafeteria trays! The pho here is quite tasty - slightly too salty for me, but other than that the broth is flavorful and rich and the noodles are amazing. The only reason why I give it a 4/5 is because the portion size is quite small. There's not much meat in the pho either. I got the K&D special pho and that was about $10.50. I usually don't eat a lot, but even I wanted more noodles since there really weren't a lot in there at all. Luckily, my friend and I were able to add one extra noodles to one of our orders for only $0.50. The owner was super nice about that! We weren't able to pay using credit card since it was only 50 cents and we also didn't bring any cash so she ended up giving it to us for free. Visited couple of times and had different experience on each visit. It's located behind Kroger gas station, few doors down from Jet's Pizza. Plenty of parking and when you walk-in, make sure you go to the counter, order your food, then grab your stuff (utensil, etc) and find a table. They will bring the food out to you when ready. Pho - While I like Pho House, their broth is bit on the sweet side for me. On the first visit, the broth here was sweet, but on the 2nd visit, it was not. So I guess it's hit or miss depending on who's working in the kitchen. However, overall their pho was good. The portions are bit smaller then pho house, but it hit the spot. Bahn Mi - my nephew had this and he said the chicken was lot better then pork. The pork was bit dried out on the first visit. The chicken was moist and juicy, most likely due to them using chicken thigh. I'll have to try the beef bahn mi on my next visit. Vermicelli Bowl - smaller portion then other places that I've been too and their sauce was nice, wasn't over powered by the fish sauce. Good dish, would recommend this dish. Spring Rolls - you can't go wrong with fried food, perfectly fried and delicious. Summer Rolls - only available on Sat and Sun, 3 pcs per order, it took some time to get this. Chicken Wings - the menu says "spicy and nonspicy", but the sauce comes on the side. In fact, their "spicy sauce" is not spicy at all, it has no hint of spice. The chicken was decent, was not fan of the sauce. Service - first visit, the food came out quick. The wife was running the place with 2 staff members and she was on top of things. The second visit, the husband was running the place with one staff and another person came later. He struggled a bit, but recovered and got the food out on time. Why come here? Come for their bahn mi, at $4.95 (beef is 30 cents more), can't beat the price and it's perfect for one person. I wish them all the best. With Dalat moved to Ann Arbor, they are fulfilling a niche market in Ypsi. read more

This place is located in a strip mall area and they are open for dine in for about 4 ppl . It's a mom and pop store ish place but their sandwiches are really great. I only wished the bread could be less crispy so it'll be easier for me to bite. The service is impeccable. The server suggested a few add-ins to save us some moolah. Will definitely be back again whenever we go home. Update: we went for a sandwich last Sunday while running some errands in the area! The cashier was very welcoming and friendly! We love her. It's a new location and they're getting the kinks worked out I'm sure, but they were SLOOOOOW. The tables were packed, but I think only one table actually had food. We went in to grab my daughter a vermicelli bowl "to go" on the way home, and took a seat while we waited for her food to be prepared. One thing I did notice is that they not only have a very limited menu, but the first thing that you see when you look through the opening to their kitchen is a microwave. Um, you might want to move that, it doesn't look good for your image. That could just be me though. (I can microwave my food at home and save the time and money making at home with a pack of noodles and some meat.) They only had two people working. I think everything was made to order. I loved that the second person rolled the cart out for each order and served the guests, but again, only two people working with a very full bistro takes time and focus away from getting other meals ready. It took over 40 minutes to get our one vermicelli bowl. When we received it, it came out in a bowl and was to eat in house. We had to wait another few minutes to have her pack it up. My daughter didn't like it. I'm going to try it again because I'm guessing it's better when you're actually eating it in the bistro vs taking it home, but we'll see. I'll also leave my husband at home, he was very irritated that it took so long, and by the time we got home we had to reheat our food from another restaurant. (with... THE MICROWAVE!!! I thought it could have had some more round steak in the soup, especially since I ordered extra meat (counted three pieces of round steak), assuming a mistake. Nevertheless, some of the best pho around. And the noodles were not stuck together like at some other establishments. Also got the egg rolls. They were very good, but were more similar to Thai spring rolls as opposed to the typical pork stuffed Vietnamese egg rolls for which I am accustomed. Found this on yelp of course along with all my other food options. This place is family owned and the owner is very sweet. I walked in and it was clean and staff had on masks. I decided to dine in and this place offer quick service. You go to order at the counter and then have a seat and they bring you the food. I always like to order a variety of food so I ended up getting the egg rolls, summer rolls, classic banh mi, beef banh mi, vermicelli bowl, and spicy chicken wings (you can get non spicy) and a KD coffee. The coffee was good and strong like most Vietnamese coffee are. The egg rolls were good and tasty. The egg roll sauce was of course home made along with everything else and sauce was good. Vermicelli bowl was good and the pork was nice and flavorful along with the fish sauce sauce that comes with it. The summer rolls were good old fashion rolls with a good peanut sauce. Everything was fresh, and fresh tasting. This is as authentic Vietnamese cuisine you'll get without having to drive all the way towards Madison Heights. This would definitely be my go to spot for Vietnamese since I live 10 mins away. I didn't get to try my banh mi or wings yet since I ordered and ate so much but I know they must be just as good as the rest of the food. It's important to keep little mom's and pop's places like this open during this time of covid and like I said the place is clean and staff is very friendly, especially since it's family operated. I stopped by here after looking for a place with wifi capability. I had noticed this spot a few times but just realized that this was an Asian spot that served pho noodles and other items. The place was not busy and ordering was quick. I ordered pho noodles with chicken. It is pretty much self serve although the bowl was brought to me. I had to get napkins and utensils. I did not mind though. The noodles and broth were great. It came with bean sprouts on the side which i love. There was also chilli oil which i used because i like a nice spicy kick. The lady in the back who I found out name was En was very friendly. She came out and asked me about my meal and explained to me about the chicken broth versus beef broth. They use chicken broth with chicken versus beef. The meal was great. Noodles were well prepared and the flavor was good. Overall I like this place. Decided to check out K&D Bistro for lunch on a Sunday and we ordered two bowls of pho, which definitely hit the spot. Prices were reasonable and broth was clean and light. The food took a little longer than anticipated, though it did look as though the owner was in the process of training a new employee that day, which was understandable. The most memorable part of the meal was how the owner made an effort to check in with us repeatedly to make sure everything was okay. His dedication was palpable. He shared that his wife is the heart and soul of the establishment and went back to Vietnam for culinary training so that she can open the restaurant. Sunday is her one day off, so he is working in her place that day to give her a break. We had an enjoyable experience overall and I really hope that K&D continues to do well. Came in on Saturday at around 3pm because I was craving some banh mi. I must say I was not disappointed. The location is in a pretty empty plaza across from Buffalo Wild Wings and we had no trouble finding parking. The interior was clean and spacious. We went up to the counter to order then they brought the food out to us. I got the #2 K&D special, the summer rolls, and the egg rolls. The banh mi was delicious, definitely the best I ever had in Michigan. The food portion was really large for a $4.95 sandwich. The bread was nicely toasted and the veggies inside were all very fresh and crisp. The flavor of the meat was amazing. The spring rolls and egg rolls were a nice appetizer. It came out in portions of 3 and 2, respectively. The cook came out during our meal to check up on us which was also very sweet. They were extremely welcoming and I could tell they really care about the quality of their food and the satisfaction of their customers. And on top of that, the food was amazing!! Stopped in here for a late lunch on a weekday. It was completely empty which was concerning at first. However, we found we really enjoyed the food. The pho was flavorful and tasted very traditional. It did not come with as many noodles as I'm used to getting. The noodle bowl with meat and egg rolls was a unique menu item that also had great flavor. The egg rolls tasted crispy and pretty standard. Our complaints would be that the iced coffee was not filled up all the way, and the sauces on the table were half empty and used. Had a picnic planned with the boyfriend and needed sandwiches to complete our basket. Went in to grab some Bahn Mi to go and K&D turned out to be the perfect pick. The BF has never had Vietnamese food so was nervous going with a brand new restaurant but he loved them! We were both delighted by how fresh the ingredients were and so flavorful!
