Kay's Teriyaki Plus is hands down one of the best spots in town if you're craving flavorful, high-quality Asian food with generous portions and fast service. Every time I've gone, the staff has been friendly, and the food always comes out hot and fresh. But let me talk about the honey walnut chicken--it's on another level. The chicken is perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside, coated in a creamy honey glaze that strikes the perfect balance between sweet and savory. The candied walnuts add a rich crunch that takes it to the next level. It's not something you find everywhere, and Kay's nails it. I've had honey walnut chicken at a lot of places, and this is easily one of the best versions I've tried. Whether you're dining in, grabbing takeout, or ordering for lunch at work, you really can't go wrong here. Highly recommend giving Kay's a visit--and definitely try the honey walnut chicken. You won't regret it.

    Two lunch specials, inedible.

Two uneaten Teriyaki lunch specials are in the garbage in my husband's hospital room. I found Kay's online and was delighted with its proximity from Holy Family hospital. We used to enjoy Teriyaki chicken in Western Washington where it's easy to find a restaurant specializing in the dish. But with his appetite finally returning post-surgery, I was happy to satisfy his craving so off I went. The restaurant was cafeteria-like, worn tables & chairs, door open, no customers in sight and no employees. Still with their website on my screen, I found the business phone number and called it. A custom ring began chiming nearby and a lovely Asian woman of perhaps 70 appeared as I ended the call. There was kindness and mutual respect as I ordered the two meals, and found a seat to wait for the order while a young man mopped the floor. There was a language barrier with the lovely elder and in search of gently navigating I disregarded need of accuracy in the change given. It was close enough. I didn't open the meals until bringing them into the hospital room. There were no vegetables, no cucumber, nothing fresh or light to counter the savory components. The chicken was a strange consistency/bite and the Teriyaki sauce may well have served as disguise for less than fresh chicken. We tried a couple bites finding it rubbery, every taste making us question the quality and if the shelf life of the chicken had been exceeded. We realized it was a dead end. Such a small storefront would likely be disinclined to offer refund so we considered it a lesson learned and discarded in the hospital room trash. The woman was truly lovely, but this was a most unfortunate purchase.

We finally broke down and came and tried out Kays Teriyaki in Spokane. The inside Is a little dated but that's ok we got this egg drop soup and was it ever good and not pictured but we also got egg rolls and they were very food and I got teriyaki chicken and chicken yakisoba combo and it was ok. Many people do like coming here and it was about the same as a few other places but what stood out was the soup and egg rolls. So far the restaurant in Poulsbo WA. Was still the best Asian place I've been too so if you're going to be in Spokane head on down to Kay's and try it out they have a huge selection and you'll love the soup and egg rolls

Their sesame chicken is the best in town. It's so crispy and sweet with a bit of spice.

My husband was not impressed with the vegetable tempura as the veggies were cooked until they were soft, he prefers vegetables to be more al dente. I loved the vegetable tempura however and did not feel the veggies I tried were too soft. My husband traded his miso soup for my mushroom and onion soup. I tried both and they were both delicious but he does not enjoy miso soup while I do. I ordered the filet and lobster combination dinner with white rice. The filet was delicious. The lobster did not taste fresh. It was pretty fishy tasting. I told the waitress who promptly apologized and offered to replace it with a different item. She took the lobster tail and I agreed to switch it for the shrimp. She brought the shrimp out to me just a few minutes later and it was very delicious and tasted fresh. The veggies served with my dinner entree were so wonderfully flavored and cooked just how I like. My husband had the pad thai with beef and he loved it so much. This was our first time coming to Shiki and I must say we will definitely be coming back. Overall wonderful service and aside from the lobster everything tasted so good.

We were probably the second or third customer there. As soon as we sat down we were given the menus to look over. The lady was very kind and gave us a lot of time to decide on what we wanted. It took 30 to 40 minutes for the food to come even though we only ordered three things. I noticed that when more people walked in, the lady would let them know that the wait would be 40 minutes, even though only three to four groups were seated inside. I think this communication is very appreciated and respectable. I think they had a lot of online/phone orders and were short-staffed... so they were very busy with that. The sushi rolls are very small and kind of disappointing. The taste was fine, nothing out of the ordinary per Spokane standards. The price, however, is on the higher end. For two people (3 rolls total), it cost about $25 per person. Even though it might have been an off day for them, I don't recommend this place for the sushi quality or cost.

I decided to order the Pork Katsu curry with rice which came out to ~$20ish. The spice level was pretty mild, but the flavour was spot-on. It was cooked well, seasoned well, was not oversalted, and the balance of the dish was impeccable. The rice went great with the dish, as it should. Definitely not Coco's Curry, or anything you would expect to get in Japan, and no add-ons or anything special, so you cannot just add cutlets or potatoes like you normally would be able to at a Japanese Curry place. But this was obviously a ramen place so as long as the dish tastes good, there is nothing to complain about...which is exactly what I experienced. Service was very friendly, and ambiance was just what you would expect. I cannot comment on the ramen or any of the other dishes, but definitely endorse their Pork Katsu curry with rice if you are in the mood for a Japanese-style curry.
