We stopped by one weekday evening (6 PM). It's located right next to the Garland Theater it has a little parking lot in front of it. The place was not very busy. We were probably the second or third customer there. As soon as we sat down we were given the menus to look over. The lady was very kind and gave us a lot of time to decide on what we wanted. It took 30 to 40 minutes for the food to come even though we only ordered three things. I noticed that when more people walked in, the lady would let them know that the wait would be 40 minutes, even though only three to four groups were seated inside. I think this communication is very appreciated and respectable. I think they had a lot of online/phone orders and were short-staffed... so they were very busy with that. The sushi rolls are very small and kind of disappointing. The taste was fine, nothing out of the ordinary per Spokane standards. The price, however, is on the higher end. For two people (3 rolls total), it cost about $25 per person. Even though it might have been an off day for them, I don't recommend this place for the sushi quality or cost. read more

Worst sushi I have ever eaten. The rice was so thick and starchy I needed water to get it down. I finally just peeled off the rice,losing most of the nori and ate the middle of the roll. One server was there that was overwhelmed with five people in the restaurant. My husband had the sashimi and he said it was good. We ordered hot green tea. It was cold not even tepid. I found the server and told her our tea was cold and she was very confused. I finally asked it we could have hot tea vs what she brought us. She comes back with hot water and tells us to just take the tea bag from the cold tea pot and use it I the second tea pot that had hot water. My husband ended up just digging the tea bag out and putting it in the new tea pot. It took10 minutes to get our bill and credit card back to check Horrible food and service! read more

Pretty good place found with my Yelp app which I often do. Seems like a mom and pop place. I ordered the bento with beef teriyaki and vegetable croquettes which also includes miso soup, California roll, and salad. Interesting thing was that it did not include bowl of rice. The miso soup was good. The roll was good. The beef was tender and the teriyaki sauce was tasty. They gave me a weird sauce for the croquettes. It was like a ponzu type sauce not tonkatsu sauce so I ate them without sauce. read more

Had our monthly outing with friends last night and decided to try a new Sushi place! At first glance, not impressive. The space is small, a bit dated, and I think something might be wrong with the heat because there were quite a few space heaters, but stay tuned because there is a diamond in the rough. The service was slow and we had to remind the server of things often. Our food didn't all come out at once, but this poor girl was the only server working. She was alone for a full house on a Saturday night and was running around like a chicken with its head cut off. She was doing the best she could. She maintained a great attitude and was patient and kind so I can forgive the slow service and forgotten items. Now for the best part - the food! Yum! We love sushi and enjoy trying new places in town. This has to be in my top two. California roll - it was delicious, but not any more impressive than other California rolls. Seahawks - yum. This was so good and the crab stick on top was perfection! Big Crunch - this was probably our least favorite, but still SO good. 12th man - OMG GET IT! It's so good! This was by far our favorite. The sushi coming out looked great and I had a lot of time to notice as I waited 35 minutes for our take out (single) teriyaki chicken order. They weren't really busy, just a couple of tables in the dining room. Had I not already paid $20 (!) I would have left. The chicken was good, the rice was fine and the miso soup was ok. I was pretty sure the person in the kitchen only started to cook the rice when it was ordered. They probably make their own teriyaki sauce as it was fairly light in color. Good, though. I think their forte is probably sushi and not teriyaki. This won't be our favorite teriyaki place. read more

The sushi was adequate and it over 30 minutes to have our order served to us. That said, the wait staff was friendly despite the wait.

While I felt the staff was friendly and accommodating, the food I ordered was sub-par. The teriyaki beef I ordered was not cooked thoroughly and was cold all the way through. The entire plate came drowned in the sauce which seemed like it came right out of a grocery store bottle cold. Prices were high for what you are getting. Toro Sushi at 328 North Sullivan Road in Spokane Valley is definitely worth the drive and a MUCH better option all around. Far better experience, far better food. I am in loveeeeee. I saw the Midori sign at random when driving along and SWERVED to try it. When I tell you swerved, I was a bit shocked myself, but this girl loves her sushi. I usually order from my phone but since this place had just opened I wanted to go in and get a menu for my fridge, duh. They were slow, of course with COVID but the lady behind the counter helping me was awesome.I went down my list of orders and then told her to surprise me and everything that we got was absolutely delicious. I actually did not realize how hungry I was because not a single picture. I loved the sushi my wife and I got here. My unagi roll was the best I've had in town and her roll was really balanced for a shrimp tempura roll. I'm giving Midori 4 stars instead of 5 because the service was just slightly frustrating. I can't fault this small and local business for being successful, it's what Spokane and especially Garland businesses need! However, the front of house was swimming in take out and to go orders. So much so it was effecting the people trying to dine in. We were with our 9 month old daughter (glad they have numerous high chairs great job Midori), which maybe made the waiting feel a bit exaggerated. The other groups that were seated later than us also got caught waiting getting their food and drink orders in due to the frequent demand from the customers trying to grab and go. Without telling Midori how to do things, my suggestion would be to consider taking small breaks from the counter and occasionally make a to go order wait the duration of the time it takes to gather an order from a small table. By simply walking away from the counter and informing a to go patron you'll be right with them, getting an order from a seated couple can get their food into the kitchen much sooner and progress their order along with orders being called/ordered in. Instead what we observed was party after party coming in leaving with boxes of food as we were waiting to place a simple order of drinks and two rolls. I'm sure we'll be back to either grab food to go from Midori or dine in with a different set of expectations. We saw only a few cars in the parking lot when we sat in the lobby, let's just say the lot can fill up quickly for evening to go orders. If you want to eat great sushi, Midori should provide that. If you are expecting smooth front of house waiting experience, it may or many not happen depending on the amount of orders called in or ordered online. read more

This is the best, freshest sushi in Spokane, hands down. The owners are a lovely Japanese couple who don't speak much English, but are the friendliest people you'll ever meet. They truck their fish in special from the Seattle dock and it shows.
