I went in for a safety inspection. The receipt was printed at 11:47 and the receptionist didn't call me until 1220. When I asked her why it took her. 30 minutes to call me up to pay. She said she was on the phone. I was sitting in the in the lobby the entire time and could hear the staff's conversations. She was not on the phone the entire time and there were two other people at the counter. I'm not sure what her problem was, but intentionally wasted my time. read more

Exceptionally pleased with my service. I previously had my work done at a different shop in Stafford. Due to the expense quoted for exhaust work and the alleged complications, I opted to shop around. From the moment I walked into Kaz Automotive, I was treated kindly and rapidly. Whereas I had to wait for quotes from other shops, I had mine in less than 30 minutes and was scheduled in for work in 2 days, contrasted to longer wait times at other locations. All of my repairs were completed in timely fashion and exactly as quoted. And I was very happy they offer shuttle service to & from my home plus a military discount!!! I have brought in numerous cars and they have never been able to actually find out the issue of the vehicle. They do not care about the customers time being wasted after being told to "just bring it in" and then it taking numerous days for a simple look over. Staff is super lack luster and slow when it comes to checking you out. Currently outside waiting on a U-Haul that is taking 26-30 mins to check out. It's a 2-3 min process at other locations. Guy told my husband he was going to "take two" knowing he was the only 1 out of 4 employees doing Uhual rentals. We had already BEEN waiting with a reservation on file. Terrible reception in the area. Do yourself a favor and go to the U-Haul rental place on Jefferson Davis Hwy and if you need car repairs there are many in the area. After a misunderstanding for work I wanted done on my vehicle (I had custom parts, which was against their policy, which makes sense) I acted like a complete fool. The service writer that I spoke to was more than accommodating and very polite when explaining to me. She did not deserve my rude behavior, I'm very sorry miss. The manager reached out afterwards and explained that there was a miscommunication (it was on my part to her, again, very sorry miss) and the way he spoke just showed their professionalism when dealing with customers, even ridiculous angry ones like me. I came here for a state inspection. Got in line with 4 cars in front of me at 1:20pm. Didn't get in the garage until 4:00 pm, and my car wasn't finished until nearly 5:00pm. I waited in my car this entire time, seems an unreasonable wait for a simple inspection. My car failed due to 2 tires treads, I replaced the tires next day and brought my car back in for a re-inspection to pass. Took another hour just for them to check my tires. Honestly, I'd consider going elsewhere for an inspection if I could get a quicker wait time, 4.5 hours is unreasonable. As far as the staff goes, they're nice but not in a hurry so just be prepared for a wait. read more

I really like this place it's my new go to. The front desk staff is a little rough around the edges but I think that's to be expected in this industry. The staff that actually work on your car and call you are very nice and very informative. They also will make sure you're 100% before you go. My car died and needed a new battery they got me all fixed up but my dash screen and key fob weren't working, they immediately took it back in and fixed it up. I also was worried about an oil change and when I called with questions the guy was very helpful and made sure I was good to go. read more

It's not often I go to auto repair shops for my or my families vehicles. Recently, I took my fathers truck for a state inspection. It's lower mileage and well maintained so it should have passed no issue. Wrong. Failed for rear shoes and drums. Ok, quote wasn't terrible and being a full time student I went ahead and had them do the work since I had no time to do it myself. Worst decision. Ten miles into our drive down backroads, we smell what we thought was clutch from the vehicle in front of us. A few minutes later, my father is standing on the brakes to get the truck to stop. We pull over, smoke coming from the right rear drum. No brakes, no where for a flatbed to load up the truck. We make the slow journey back home. The day trip is ruined. This morning, I brought the truck back in. Chris, who apparently is a manager, was apologetic. Two hours later the truck is ready for pick up. "All it needed was the shoes to be adjusted" I was told. I'm no certified mechanic but the adjustment is part of the job. My father calls and asks for a more through explanation. Same response "All it needed was..." but is unapologetic towards my father. What the shop needs is better trained technicians. They were paid to fix, what they deemed, a safety issue with the brakes. What they did was put my parents at risk of a catastrophic accident by not finishing their job and improperly adjusting the brakes. How can a shop with the power of passing or failing a Virginia safety inspection, fail to inspect their own work and put a customer at such a safety risk??? read more

We moved to this area back in August. We had a decent garage for repairs and maintenance up in McLean but, needed something closer to home. I'm normally very cautious when it comes to mechanics and service stations because of past bad experiences just like everyone else has had. It was close and convenient so I thought I'd just give it a try. No, I hadn't looked on yelp prior to going up there. In short, I've had three experiences with KAZ Automotive since we've been living here. Every single one of them nothing but good and well done at a reasonable price. KAZ Automotive is where we will get ALL our car maintenance done and buy tires. (By the way, also snagged a $60.00 rebate from Goodyear Tires which I wasn't expecting. However, if you get one and do it online make REAL sure that you have the ability to download a PDF copy of your RECEIPT AND INVOICE and have the ability to attach it to the online form. Just a heads up, nothing bad about KAZ though, it's all about the online form.) I'm a somewhat older guy with genuine disabilities, mobility issues and limited resources. I have no qualms about taking any of our family vehicles there and they have earned my trust and now consider them "our garage" and I WILL recommend them to others! You do good works folks! Long review but if you care about your car and not getting taken then probably worth understanding what you're getting in to when you take your car to this place. The people are either not that knowledgeable about cars or they try to dishonestly upsell you. A few years ago I had a check engine light with a bad O2 sensor code. I replaced both O2 sensors but the light stayed on so I took it to Kaz. They ran the same diagnostic that I did (charged me $60) and told me it needed an O2 sensor. I told them I had already replaced both and they asked me if I had replaced all four. I told them that my car only has two. They insisted it had 4. I asked them to show me where the other two were and they said they couldn't bring people into the garage. Okay, can you show me in the parking lot? Nope. Too busy. Went back after 2 years hoping they had just had a bad day when I had gone before. They told me I needed $2500 of alignment work. I took it to an alignment place and was out the door for $60. Its been good since. After these two experiences I decided I would only use them for inspections and emissions. They failed my car because they said I had brake line leaks. I told them that I had just replaced the pads/rotors and bleed the breaks afterwards and the brake fluid they saw from the bleeder valves was from that. They wanted me to pay them to "repair" the brake lines.. Took it to another garage and it was all good. That was 2 years ago. I thought I was done with them for good but I needed an inspection yesterday, the line was short, and I thought it would be easy. Wrong. Told me I had a sticking brake caliper due to eleven wear on brake pads between the two sides. I replaced them when I got home. The wear was identical and the brakes functioned perfectly. Also told me I had a manifold leak but they couldn't tell me where it was. The vehicle runs perfectly, no engine light, no loss of power, same mileage as always, no noises. Again, I'm taking it elsewhere. They also told me somewhere in this sorted history that I had transmission fluid in my air filter. I was speechless. I dont know how anyone could spend a day in a garage and not know that this is physically impossible. I told them it was a K&N air filter (air filter that you spray with red oil). The mechanic had never heard of it. For what its worth, I'm an engineer and a somewhat experienced mechanic. Will not be going back to Kaz. read more

Let them know you're going to stay. Stay for a bit. Then leave. They didn't touch my car for 3 hours because I said I was dropping it off. If people come in after me, but say they're going to stay and wait, their service gets priority over my car. I don't agree with the practice. read more

I've been here a number of times, never really had a great experience or a terrible experience. The staff isn't overly friendly and generally, you feel as though they are upset for having to assist you with the services they offer. The gentleman who does the state inspections and one of the females up front are the only 2 genuine people I have interacted with. On 5/18/22 at about 8:15am, I came in to get emissions test done, a sign was posted in front of the line stating "5/17/22 only state inspection available". I waiting in line for 2 hours only to be told they aren't doing emissions that day and that a sign was posted. Drove around and sure enough they had put up a new sign stating "5/18/22 only state inspection available". Really wish whoever changed that sign would have told me and the other 5 cars in line that the info posted had changed. Time was the only thing lost that day so not a huge deal, but from the customer service I've received in the past, this lack of communication was the deal breaker. The worst costumer service I have ever experienced. I have never written a yelp review before, but my experience here has left me more compelled than ever to write a negative one. The lady behind the front desk lacked all costumer service related skills, was rude, and extremely unprofessional. Despite having a rental truck reserved for 12pm, I had to wait for an hour just for her to remember that I was waiting and finally allow me to sign the paperwork for the truck that was ready to go in the parking lot since I arrived. My husband is PISSED. I went in this morning of Thursday, June 20 at 8a to have a rear tire repaired due to a screw puncture. Once my vehicle was ready to be returned to me I was told a LEAK was coming from under my vehicle. They said it's COOLANT. I texted my husband. When I spoke to him he said THEY pulled one off on another woman. My husband said he took the vehicle for its required INSPECTION this past Saturday. I told him what they told me - they said they don't know the root cause of the leak because they didn't have the vehicle on a lift up in the air. My husband said it's not hard to make coolant leak, answer to my question can someone make a leak happen. My husband asked did I see them change the tire and I told him I did not see the process. I took my truck in to get an oil change and tire rotation. They ask if I was waiting and I told them I was doing some shopping locally. They ask for my number to contact me when the truck was done. 4 hours later, i checked on the truck. They had not done any work on the truck. The truck was still parked where i parked it when I dropped it off. I ask for a status and they seemed to not know about the truck status or why no work had been done. My wife had to sit in the waiting room over an hour while they completed the truck. The work was completed and the price was fair, but the time wasted waiting on them to complete the work was unsatisfactory. This is especially disconcerning when they jumped on the job immediately when I brought it to their attention. It seemed like they forgot to do the work. I have been comming to Kaz for over 10 years, mostly for car inpections, but now I will reconsider using their services including inspections. Very disappointed read more

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I want to give a shout out to Kaz Automotive Goodyear on 610. These guys repaired two nail holes in two of my tires, due to so many roof replacements in the neighborhood (oh, don't get me started!) and in the process they (unknowingly) broke the tire sensor in one of my tires. I took my car to the dealership because of the warning lights about the tire monitoring system and was told that during the tire repair, the sensor had been broken - NOT COVERED by warranty (of course, since they didn't break it). $180 repair. I called Kaz to explain the situation to them and the gentleman who answered the phone said WITHOUT HESITATION that they would be happy to pay for the repair. WOW!! He explained that they wouldn't have known at the time that it was broken because the tire was back on the car, but they were happy to pay for their mistake. I then told him there was no charge to me, Jeep had agreed to cover it at no cost (blessing!), thus I wasn't asking Kaz to pay for anything, but that I was very happy to hear him say that because finding an honest repair shop is hard to do, and they have high referral ratings! I came here for an emissions test, safety inspection, an oil change and a new wiper for the back of my SUV. I was here for 3 hours in the middle of a Friday afternoon. The oil change took 1 1/2 hours alone! The guy behind the counter, Matt, according to my receipt, never smiled and wasn't very friendly. He made me feel like an inconvenience, not a customer. After waiting for 3 hours, I was finally done and able to leave. I walked to the back of my car and noticed they hadn't replaced the wiper. I asked the front desk and they got the technician that worked on my car to fix it. Apparently, he put new wipers on my front windshield (which were new) and not on the back, so I had to wait for him to take off the front wipers and put a new one on the back. I'm not sure why I had to wait so long in the middle of a workday, but I think it took too long and a lot longer than I've waited at other places. They do offer a military discount, which I fully appreciate, but I don't think I would come back. read more

We recently got tires from KAZ, after calling our dealer. They were more than $125 less than the dealer, despite the "special" our dealer had going on. KAZ gave us 10% off our tires. It took two days for our tires to come in, and they called promptly to let us know they had arrived. We had a small wait to get the tires on, but nothing out of the ordinary. We have had very good luck with getting tires mounted and balanced and getting our inspections done here over the last 10 years or so. They are very busy and sometimes have more going on in the office than can be handled by the one or two folks manning this position. Their work on my vehicles has not let us down but we have been able to find another shop that is less expensive and just as convenient. Recently had a very good experience with Kaz in getting our new tires mounted and balanced. They noticed two lug nuts needing replacement and replaced those after finding some that would work. read more

I came in for a small repair. Tire pressure sensor did not work and I wanted it replaced. I got a quote over the phone that seemed reasonable so I went. Big mistake. I had to go here twice, technically almost a third time too. First time, Waited 5+ hours, got my car, turned it on , TPMS sensor was on, I decided to test the sensor, my releasing tire pressure and light did not turn like it was supposed. Second time, Told the front desk of issue by phone. was told faulty sensor was installed. Had to order a OEM replacement part form Toyota. They told me they would pick it up before I arrive. That didn't happen. Took another 3+ hour wait. Last time, same issue again even with OEM part. I decided I wanted a refund at this point. They said they would honor it over the phone, but they wanted to deduct $20 for labor. Really??? Their reasoning: "because it was a faulty sensor, labor was still performed therefore you owe us labor" This is after repetitive visits, they don't consider my waste of time and poor customer experience to justify a full refund. Don't go here. If they do this with small stuff imagine what else they do. read more

Fraud alert If I could give lower than one star I would do it. I brought my vehicle into this shop on a recommendation. Hours later I get a call back quoting me several thousand dollars in ""needed" repairs. I told them I would come down there to talk about it and look at the estimates. It took me all of 30 seconds to see that the estimates were false, the parts were triple priced, and the man hours for each job was 5x what it should be. I know this because I have replaced parts on my vehicle before this trip to the shop. So I simply asked them to do nothing but the AC recharge. An hour later I get a call back to pick up my truck. After a half hour of waiting they brought it around. I drive the 1 mile back to my friends house and notice the AC recharge was not done at all. I bring my truck back and Kaz confirms no AC work was done on the truck and I need to wait another hour to have it actually done this time. After they finish they charge me $157 on top of the AC recharge because they "looked the truck over". I was furious but didnt have the time to argue, since they took up my entire day, so I paid and left. Fast forward two weeks at my mechanic in Arlington, VA...I hand him all the estimates that Kaz gave me and right off the bat he notices that they had parts listed all over the several thousand dollar estimate that dont belong on my truck. They are car parts for a different year, make, and model car. Also he stated the "transmission check" they charged me $157 never occured because I need a tune up and any mechanic if they looked for one minute at the transmission can see that...he continued to rattle off all of their lies and mistakes. It went from a $3000 estimate from Kaz to a $450 actual estimate and repair from my shop. All and all I got Kaz in multiple attempts at fraud and they still charged me $257. Kaz was the worst experience at a mechanic I've had and I strongly recommend anyone who goes here to look over their bills, parts list, man hours billed, etc with a fine tooth comb because they obviously are not honest in anyway. Update: My AC stopped working two days ago after Kaz had "run a diagnostic". After again taking it to another mechanic they made it clear no diagnostic was actually done because there was an obvious leak and anyone would have seen it if one was done. So yet again Kaz charged me for a service they did not do. If it was worth it I would file a lawsuit against Kaz for fraudulent services. read more

Left my car for fully synthetic oil change and tire rotation, specifically asked to rotate front wheels to the back. 3hrs later i came back to pick up my car paid $62 for tire rotation and oil change.
