This place is amazing and a unique experience in Providence. As far as I know, Tel Aviv is the only place in Providence where cigars are allowed in a restaurant! They have great decks on two floors, and multiple large screen TV's - very cool friendly vibe - this place is great. The co-managers Jack and Adam are outstanding, know their stuff, and lead a great team. The servers are all friendly and attentive. Once a week the restaurant throws a midweek Cigar Dinner that is the best deal in town - two premium cigars and a high-end 3-course dinner for just $50 bucks! Sometimes they charge a little more if the cigars are super crazy premium, but believe me it is a great deal, and they deserve the cigar community's full support! ***VIP*** IMO We need to keep places like this alive and successful - unlike difficult and puritanical Massachusetts, where cigar bars are discouraged - this place is outstanding. Jack and Adam do a great job running the place - a great location. FYI - Jack ran Cigar Masters on Exchange Street in Providence and is a true professional and it shows - he relocated and merged with Tel Aviv and I think it was a mix made in heaven - a little more casual - a better location, great decks on the water in a roomier place! First off, Tel Aviv is awesome! There are literally no places in the New England area that offer waterfront views, bar, food and cigar smoking in one. Tel Aviv is a great place to meet with friends or on a date. It offers great waterfront views, large outdoor seating area, great drinks and delicious food! The cigar selection in the humidor is also wonderful, incase you don't bring your own. When my friends and I go here, we always order food and drinks. The food is awesome! We usually order the lamb lollipops, grape leaves, Thai chicken satay, calamari and baked feta- everything is always cooked to our liking and never have any issues. The drinks are also delicious. A definite must try is the Skrewball peanut butter whiskey which is excellent. Next, the service is awesome. Everyone who works there is awesome and very attentive to the customers. This is a cool place to go in the summer and sit outside by the water. The ground that the tables are on is actually made of turf which is different. Once it started to get dark and a little chilly, they brought a personal fire pit next to our table! I tried a few cocktails which were all good, and we shared the cheese plate. It came with fresh and dry fruit, cheese, crackers, olives and meats. It was perfect for sharing. My only complaint is that it seemed to be a bit pricy for the area, both the drinks and food. What a great tapas place that no one goes to! It makes me sad. We got here on a Tues night around 6 and we were the only ones there the entire time. Parking can be tricky as it's on street parking only (we found 2 spots on South Water street) but def worth the visit. Atmosphere is hip and trendy - intimate lighting. The awning is black with the restaurant's name in dark red - this could be hard to see at night as Whiskey Republic's sign is lit up like the 4th of July. Our bartender, Krista was great. Very personable and friendly - talked with us but gave us our space as well. What knocked off a star was that I'm a Moscato drinker, they only had Riesling - so I opted to get that BUT they ran out. No ciders either, bottled beers only. I decided to get Sunrise Splash (rum/pineapple) which was fine. My gf had the Perfect Pleasure (vodka, pomegranate, cranberry) which she really enjoyed...a few times. =) The tapas are between $4-7, very decently priced and great portions. We ordered the mozzarella skewers, baba ganoush, buffalo chicken sliders, spanakopita, falafel sliders and cheese platter (manchego and aged gouda). We really enjoyed everything we had - my favorite was the mozz skewers - so fresh tasting with a nice balsamic drizzle and spanakopita - nice crispy flaky crust and delicious tzatziki sauce. The only thing I wasn't completely thrilled with was the falafel sliders - I think the falafel was a tad bit too big of a serving for the slider - maybe smaller and flatter would work a little better. And who am I kidding, most of us have had it in a wrap from East Side Pockets, so we're a little bias. =) All in all, would love to come back to try other things off the menu - just wished there was more of a crowd, umm any crowd for that matter. My favorite spot to go to when in providence for a cigar! Fantastic selection and great atmosphere. Went in on a Sunday night and the place was very lively and decently busy. We got a table inside in front of a tv for the basketball game and there was fun techno music playing. There was a man in glasses who was either the owner or manager that I've seen both times I've been in and he's extremely accommodating and hospitable. They also serve food and hookahs which I haven't tried yet but I'm sure it wouldn't disappoint! Great location too on the water! read more

The drinks are good, although I would like to see more emphasis on custom crafted cocktails as the atmosphere suits it. This is a nice place and the food was pretty tasty. We went on a Saturday evening and I was a little surprised that there weren't more people there(about 10 ppl in total). But that was good for us because our waitress was on point. I ordered the buffalo chicken meatball sliders(delicious) and the tomato and mozzarella skewers(equally amazing). For the small portions, they were surprisingly filling. The prices were good for them, I believe $5 and $6 so I was satisfied with the taste and cost. I also ordered a cosmo(forget the name) and had a feeling it would be expensive since there was no price on the menu(I see what y'all did lol). But after like 3 sips I was feeling it(you know a lil tipsy) so I didn't even care how much it cost. It was $12, that's NYC prices right there, but it was gooood and strong. Overall I had a pleasant experience here. Nice ambiance, good music, good food and nice staff. I would return. I went with a group of people, 4 girls and one of the girl's boyfriends. Originally we went to the Hot Club, which was a great time. Then we decided to try the place next door. Big mistake! One of the bouncers was checking our ID's and letting us in, until out of nowhere another bouncer runs next to him and says "They are not coming in". We were all so confused. We asked the bouncer why not and at first wouldn't give us a straight answer. He then points to the only male in our group, who might I add is African American, and says "He has a T-Shirt on, this is a business casual place." We look around the non packed bar and see multiple men with sneakers on and t shirts, including one that's near the door with a Nike T-shirt on. We ask the bouncer why there are already multiple people inside with T-shirts on and his was response was "I don't have to explain, all you need to is they're in there and you're out here" I have never been so completely disgusted by such blatant ignorance in my life! They pick and choose who to let in, like it's some big ordeal to be let into their establishment. The place was also dead compared to the Hot Club and I can see why. This place has potential but their online Menu was inaccurate. We went there for the duck sliders and tapas, and there were Neither! They had apps, but with no tapas, we were confused. We ordered the meat, fig and cheese platter which when it arrived, didn't include what the menu stated. There was just one type of cheese and no crustini. I stopped in here a couple of weeks ago, quite by accident. Taking photos at night in Providence in the winter (well actually the spring that feels like winter) can be pretty cold! While waiting for the sun to set I stopped in Tel Aviv with a couple of friends. It was pretty quiet in there because it was only 6:30, but we sat at the bar. Unfortunately, since this wasn't a planned stop we had already eaten but we ordered a bottle of wine to warm up with. The wine list was varied and had some unique offerings. The decor can be described as exotic modern and really beautiful (we actually took as many pictures inside as we did of Providence at night). The staff was pleasant helpful and didn't rush us a bit. I went to Tel Aviv Bar & Tapas on a Saturday night around 7:30 for drinks with some friends. Since it was a nice evening, we decided to sit outside for the waterfront views. Once 8 o'clock hit, multiple people told us that they have a strict dress policy and that we had to remove our hats. I found it odd that a place would have a time when they would enforce a dress code, especially for a bar with outside seating that we were already sitting at. The place was dead for a Saturday night and it was dark so I don't get why it even mattered in the end. I ordered the Mediterranean Mojito, which was very watered down. My friends and I were very disappointed with our cocktails because they basically had no alcohol and were $12/$13! I don't mind paying for a good quality drink, so I was very put off by these drinks and prices. This isn't NYC or Boston. One of my other friends came after and I told them to just order wine or beer because you could guarantee that there would be alcohol in them. When I asked for my check, I noticed a "rounding" charge on my bill. It was only $0.04 but we were all charged it. When I asked the waitress she couldn't comment on it. We all felt like this place was taking advantage of us. We will not likely be coming back. read more

Went here for lunch today. It was a beautiful day and this restaurant is located where the old Lola's used to be right on the Providence River. It was a great scene and the breeze off the water was amazing. I started out by getting the shrimp cocktail and the shrimp where huge! That was followed by a bottle of a blush wine. Then I had the tomato basil salad with fresh mozzarella and a balsamic reduction. It was fantastic of course I added grilled chicken to the side for an additional $3. The service was amazing! Came here bc my friend was raving about the food and wow she was right! We sat at the bar as there was a paint nite there which we hadn't expected. The inside is so pretty and the bar stools are ridiculously comfortable. We had a few martinis, I wasn't sure which one I wanted so the bartender offered to just make one for me, I liked how she offered that right away and it was great! I also got the expresso martini that I loved. Now for the food! They have a tapas menu for only around $4 each so you can try numerous plates and not spend a fortune. We each got a plate of the cucumber hummus which is sliced cucumbers with hummus and shaved baked pita chips on top. This was so good! We shared the Caesar salad which I thought would be hard to do but this place is all over it! They actually individually put the Caesar ingredients into a lettuce wrap that stays together perfectly. I will likely not come back to this restaurant. This was my first time visiting and while the staff was very friendly, the establishment literally has made me sick. That is a worm, possibly a parasite, that I found in my leftovers this morning. I was also very turned off by the bathrooms that had no toilet paper. It was a Monday night and no toilet paper and I was one of a handful of women in the restaurant. The place wasn't particularly busy which means your staff, while friendly, wasn't checking the bathrooms properly. Not ideal. You can do a lot better. read more

Its about time a place like Tel Aviv has come to this area in Fox Point, and I hope they make it. It's really the only place you can get good food at night around here. Sure, you can go to Lola's (which is closed for the winter) and get nachos, or the Hot Club and get a cheeseburger, but this is the only place around here that you can get GOOD food. Atmosphere - this place will catch your eye. Their exterior is lit up nicely, and the inside is pretty new (mostly thanks to the travesty that was Gavin's). They have a large bar, a few lounge areas, and some high tops. One thing that I was little surprised by was their music: they were playing your standard American top 40. With a name like Tel Aviv, I was hoping for SOME Middle Eastern/ME inspired music. Service - I sat at a high top, and while our service started with a glitch, our waitress apologized and was very friendly. Food/Drinks - this is why you come here (at this point in their existence, at least). They have REALLY delicious tapas that are priced perfectly. All tapas were priced from roughly $3 - $9 and were perfect for two people to share. They are seriously very good. As far as drinks go, they have your typical bar offerings at comparable prices. This area of Providence is a tricky area: there's a ton of competition, and the three bars that are within a stones throw of this place all have waterfront decks. With spring and summer coming in a few months, Tel Aviv will really have to step up their advertising (which seems to be non existent) and their offerings to really get people to give up their waterfront view and get in here. If I could give them zero stars, I would. The food was good, but definitely not worth the terrible service. At first we were at a nearby restaurant but they couldn't accommodate outdoor seating. We called Tel Aviv Waterfront and they were more than happy to accommodate. We were seated immediately and the bus boy brought over our menus and water - kudos to him because he seemed to be the only one there to serve the customers. We had a Beautiful view, but that view gets old after about 15 minutes and not a single waitress came by to take our drink order or to let us know that she would be over shortly. We had to actually ask if someone would be coming to serve us soon. We observed the waitresses trying to figure out who had our table and one waitress said she would just take it - like it was a chore. One of the drink orders was wrong and she was nowhere to be seen, so I physically went up to the bar to have it fixed. After we got our drinks and appetizers, we waited about 30 minutes before having to flag someone down to place our dinner order, and then had to wait another 45 minutes for our food orders to come out. The bread is supposedly complementary, however you have to ask for it, and when we did, we did not receive enough for a party of 7. While waiting for our food order to be taken, the bus boy accidentally spilled a (plastic) up of water due to the fact that the waitresses did not clear table as they were supposed to, so our dishes had taken up most of the room on the table. The bus boy immediately profusely apologized, brought over a towel, as well as a fresh cup. He was the one with the most stellar service of the night. Once the food finally came out, all but one of the people in our group got their food, and the remaining person had to wait another 10 minutes until his food was brought out. On our way out, one of the people in our group, a business owner himself, tried to ask if the owner or manager was in. The man at the front said he had just walked in and was inside wearing a white shirt- essentially implying that we had to go locate him ourselves instead of leading us to the owner. Clearly we had an issue with the service if we were asking for the owner, and I doubt that any sensible restaurant owner would consider them self too busy to remedy a customer's bad experience. In addition, we also observed several waitresses texting on their phones or eating food on the floor - all while we were waiting upwards of 20, 30, and 40 minutes for service. Zero out of five stars. I hope that the owner will be receptive to this review and use it to better his staff in the future. read more

Went for dinner last Friday with my gf and another couple. Nice atmosphere, our server was great as well as the host at the front door. We enjoyed our drinks but the food was overpriced and barely edible. I ordered the shrimp fradiavalo which was way too spicy and lacked real flavor. My gf ordered a grilled chicken salad which was virtually tasteless. I don't mind paying well for a good meal but we will definitely not be eating here again. OK. Before me and my honey went, I read the other reviews. I thought "well, if not very many people come, at least we will get good food & service". The evening started out well. The server was very nice and attentive. She was great. However, I had chosen a "special" spot - where I had a clear view of the kitchen. This was a mistake. There was only one guy working in the kitchen. Just as he's supposed to, he wore gloves while he worked. However, he didn't bother changing them, as he went back and forth in between making our food and washing dishes. I also got "treated" to the sight of him putting some food on our plates, licking off his fingers, then proceeding to continue about his business of washing dishes and making food. I don't know how many health codes this breaks, but I was disgusted. So, expect to come to an empty restaurant, and get the opportunity to "kiss the cook" even if you don't find him attractive. The food was so-so. Price, like many tapas places, ends up higher than you'd expected. If it wasn't for the disgusting kitchen practices, I'd have given it 3 or 4 stars, but come on...isn't the minimum for a kitchen to follow health code? I came here yesterday for the first time for drinks and appetizers. This atmosphere of this place is great and they offer a nice variety of drinks. The food, however, is not terrific. We got a variety of their tapas, and the only one I really enjoyed was the falafel sliders. Those were some of the best falafels I've had in a while (although to be fair, the only other time I really have falafel is in the RIH cafeteria, so the competition isn't stiff). The spanakopita was decent, but greasier than I generally like. The baba ganoush dish was weird - overly salty and served as small dollops on heavily buttered toast. The Zataar bread was also really salty and not really palatable. The lamb sliders were decent, as were the cucumber bites. Overall, everything was relatively inexpensive and decent. Tapas is always the best choice for a light post-work meal. I came here twice. The first time for an event, the second to try the food with my significant other. The atmosphere is perfect and the drink choices are classy. Our server/ bartender was very pleasant and even whipped up a sangria for me even though it was not on the menu. The food was perfectly done and well presented. Whether you are looking for a small venue for a private function or a romantic date, Tel Aviv is definitely the best option in the area. read more
