This place has a lot of potential, but unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. We visited around 11 a.m. I ordered an omelette, which was the blandest I've ever had, and my boyfriend ordered chicken and waffles, which came with only one chicken strip. Both dishes felt overpriced for what we received. We also weren't given silverware and, when we asked, were only brought spoons. My boyfriend ordered coffee that sat on a tray for at least 10 minutes before finally being brought to the table. The service overall was poor--our waitress was not attentive, seemed unfamiliar with the menu, and our food took so long to arrive that I had finished my meal before my boyfriend's was even served. When we asked a gentleman if he was the manager, he replied, "yes, well kind of," and when we raised concerns about the slow service, he simply shrugged his shoulders. I went here 5/30 at around maybe 12/1pm. A gentlemen helped me.. first impression.. not very welcoming. 1 smile from I think the only female at the moment.. but the guys are just very bland and not welcoming. I saw them rushing out the African American people next to me which made me feel uncomfortable at the fact they kept asking if they were going to order more drinks or wanted their tab.. and proceeded to speak about them in Spanish. I asked for a latte and guy proceeded to say "I can make you an espresso martini instead" .. I said sure... not a great espresso martini. Way to strong and I left half there as I just could not down it to save my life. He recommended the steak and eggs.. very good but it's a big meal. Overall had a very average experience. The place gives more bar than restaurant so my expectations were a little low. There only seemed to be one server so service was slow. Chicken and waffles had bacon and egg added for an extra charge which we didn't ask for, but it did taste good. The steak and eggs was lackluster. While it was cooked medium as I had asked, I wasn't too big of a fan of the way it was actually cooked. Everything else was good though. Drinks were good but watered down way too quickly. We also had extra drinks unnecessarily added to our bill so had to get that fixed before paying. It's an alright experience. Unfortunately, Kana was not a great hit for us. It was heavily focused on tourists and the food left that impression. I feel like the nightlife is probably much better at this spot and the staff were lovely, it was just not great food and definitely more expensive. This street has a ton of food vendors to choose from so definitely look and see who is coming and going. Always look for more local spots. If you are looking for a more tourist spot, this might be for you. But it just was not what we were goo by for. read more

Great lighting and super sunny -- perfect way to start the day. My friends ordered the eggs benedict and chicken waffles, and I got the breakfast scramble, which came with eggs, thick cut toast, and potatoes. The eggs were delicious and I loved the texture of the bread! Really fluffy and satisfying to chew. The potatoes also felt very light and not greasy at all. A solid choice! Low-light ambience. It is a bit on the louder side with the air-conditioning and talking of other patrons. The tables weren't very crowded so you'll have a decent amount of space while dining. Food: It's hard to say much about the food because I only got one simple dish. I got the $11 avocado toast with all add one (poached egg for $2.50, bacon for $3, and tomato for $1) which totaled $17.50. Unfortunately, the dish didn't look very appetizing at all and tasted about as it looked. The bread was soft and barely toasted causing it to be pretty chewy. The dish overall was very bland. Service: While it wasn't too busy when I visited this restaurant on the morning of Thanksgiving, the waitstaff was very attentive and friendly. They left me to myself and all it took was a short connection of eye contact to have them come tend to me. They were very polite and my food came out relatively quickly. Staying at the LA Concha Renaissance and hubby and I walked down here to grab food to go. We ordered the wings in both the secret rum sauce and Buffalo. We also ordered the pork pincho and the fish tacos. Customer service was good until.... The staff was attentive and placed our order quickly. Considering the backup we ordered everything at once. Much to our surprise everything did arrive together. We got the spicy pineapple margarita (they were out of watermelon) and pineapple mojito. Pineapple margarita was spicy and strong. The loaded fries was overly loaded with additional shredded chicken and the cheese wasn't melted. We had requested no bacon, so probably the cook decided to replace it with extra chicken. I wasn't a fan of the shredded chicken and the fries needed more seasoning. Our shrimp tacos were good.
