Located just east of Austin Bergstrom International Airport, Rio Vista is great if you want to avoid a commute up north after work. They also offer a shuttle service after school from Westlake for kids whose parents are unable to drive them out for their lessons. They have a great summer camp program where they make sure children learn the basics of horsemanship and riding. Rio Vista has a sprawling facility, set on rolling grassy pastures. Their barns are airy and made with the horse in mind. They attend national-level shows as well as host their own local horse shows during the show season. Check the schedule on their website as visitors are always welcome to come out and watch the events.

The city keeps doing more and more to make the space memorable, so permanent art installations, parks, and other similar features keep getting added as time goes on. If you're visiting from out of town, I can't recommend adding the River Walk to your trip enough. It's absolutely worth experiencing for yourself.

Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding.
