They have a wide selection of food available, and take-out is also an option (which I ordered). The food was delivered to my very promptly and was great! Came back to this place for dinner with a party of 8, and we were blown away. My partner said, best Thai they have had in KC area thus far. If you haven't been, stop in, this place is delicious! Our waitress was kind and prompt. The restaurant is cozy and welcoming with pleasant colors. We ordered 4 different entrees and they were so tasty. I had lunch with a friend here last week. I loved the atmosphere. We enjoyed the appetizer sampler-even though it wasn't listed on the menu. The Thom Kha soup and Chicken Pad Thai were also really good, although the Chicken Pad Thai didn't have much chicken. The Drunken Noodles with Beef were pretty disappointing. The meat was really hard to chew. Neither one of us were interested in taking the leftovers of that home. I would try it again and skip the beef. read more

I enjoyed my dine-in lunch visit at this new family business. The mint beef salad ($8.95) was served just eight minutes after I ordered at the table. It was fairly sized with a good amount of lean, tasty beef, fresh veggies, and a very good heat level. I'm happy that I didn't go hotter than medium. It may be a bit hard to find KC Thai because your GPS will lead you awry, but it's well worth the hunt! At first sight, it didn't look promising...at all. It's in a little strip mall, and there are dark blue drapes all across the front windows. But OH MY... will you be pleasantly surprised once you enter! Inside, it's newly renovated, upscale, modern, spacious, and sparklingly clean. Once seated, we realized the drapes across the front windows make you forget you're in a strip mall, because you don't see traffic or notice any of the typical less-than-lovely strip mall "scenery." The owners/staff were welcoming, happy to answer questions, and checked back to be sure we were happy with our food. My Pineapple Fried Rice with chicken needed more of what I call "goo" (aka sauce/syrup/liquid) and pineapple, and they brought both. With that addition, our food was delicious, and the menu is surprisingly extensive. So go! And if you can't find it, don't let that discourage you...just give them a call...you'll be glad you did! read more

LOVE!!! We recently moved from the East Coast (where good Thai food is usually easy to find) and this place is by far the best we've ever had! They have wonderful vegetarian options. The best part is, our kids love it too! We usually share the vegetarian appetizer plate...and we adults barely eat any of it because our kids devour it (they are 3 and 7 years old). My husband loves the Pad Thai, and I've tried a few different things with Tofu Masaman curry being my favorite. The ambiance is nice, the servers (although busy) are very kind. Don't know why it took me so long to review this place, because I come here all the time from dining in to carry out. I just left there for dinner. They have a new menu now. The place is nice, spacious, and clean. The staff is super friendly. The food is so delicious! I'm half Thai, so my taste buds are picky when it comes to Thai food. KC Thai & Bamboo Penny's are owned by the same owners. Bamboo Penny's has more dishes to offer than KC Thai. But overall, same great taste and deliciousness! Today, we ordered the chicken lad nah (soupy and so good), chicken pad se ew (very flavorful), and thai iced tea. Ask for the spice rack if you want it more spicy. read more

We've been here for take out several times and yesterday decided to try dine in for our Veterans Day discount. I think... I THINK KC Thai is also Bamboo Penny's in Leawood. Of course thai food, really any food, is best served hot and immediately. So, take out has been fine! I'm glad to have been able to dine in, noodle dishes can become a little too soggy from sitting in sauces for too long when you get take out. They clump together and just aren't as fresh. Service was good. I do wish we got checked up on after our food was served, I ordered chicken and veggie stir fry, thai hot, but it was pretty mild for me. I would like to add more heat with a spice rack. But, I was honestly so hungry and the meal was so warm, fresh, and flavorful that I ate it as is and was still pleased. Thank you so much for offering a Veterans Day discount! Many of the other more well known deals were all fast food, or chain places such as Wendy's, Applebees, Lamars, etc. We're not really a family that prefers fast food over something nutritious, so we immediately rushed here for dinner. read more

We tried KC Thai for the first time on 11/11 and we ordered again on 11/15 if that tells you how good our first experience was! The restaurant is beautiful and I can't wait to dine in sometime, plus try an imported beer . The decor is updated and I love that the owner, Penny, does all of the flower arrangements/landscaping herself. By far my favorite thing is the Tom Kha Soup which was just introduced to me by an acquaintance. How did I not know this soup existed? It's so different. The coconut milk, lime, lemongrass and cilantro all bring it to life, it's a party in my mouth for sure. I like to request extra cilantro! The staff have been super friendly both visits and I appreciate that so much. Y'all, my pocketbook is going to be hit hard by KC Thai. I need to try her other location Bamboo Penny's soon. read more

Fantastic spot to grab Thai in joco. Tough little spot to get to but well worth it once you get there. My favorite thing to get is their crab rangoon. They have a garlic in the cream cheese that sets it off. All of the traditional dishes here hit the spot. From the Tom kha to the phad kee mow, every dish we've had has been great. read more

Perhaps I really should have paid attention to the description (at least online)--I thought there was too much sauce and they aren't kidding when they say it's salty!! It was overly salted in my opinion, and I found this most displeasing. If I could get past that though, the flavor was okay. I also had some crab Rangoon. Those were pretty tasty. I like the crispy wonton it was in and the creamy filling was good. I'd go back and try something else. read more

Came here for the first time this past Friday 2/11/22 to meet my family for dinner. The place was small but the decor was very pretty. I ordered the seafood lard na. It was seasoned just perfect to me. The scallops was a decent size & seafood was plenty. I size portion seemed a bit small to me for the price, $16.95. I guess the price of food everywhere has gone up. On top of that I ordered the crispy egg rolls & spicy wings to go for my husband. I opened the box to check out my order & those egg rolls were crispy with burnt ends. These to me were overpriced for the size & how they were cooked. $6.95. The waitress was nice but we had to ask for to go containers a couple times. Other than that it was all fine. I would return for the lard na, maybe if I'm in the area. read more

We tried going to a couple of other places for dinner but the wait was about an hour and a half. We ended up here and we were all so happy with the decision! I had not been here since they changed to KC Thai and the place looks so nice! They did a great job with the renovation, it looks so different. We were a bit sad to hear that Mai Thai was closing and weren't sure what to expect from KC Thai, but almost everything we ordered was perfect! My favorites were the pork belly gaprow and seafood lard nah! The pork belly was perfectly crispy and tasted amazing! There aren't too many places around here that make lard nah well and they do a great job and it really hit the spot. My kids really liked the pineapple fried rice and phad see eaw. My youngest is really starting to like spicy food and really liked the pork belly as well. The only thing that would have made the meal perfect is if they used fresh rice noodles and had a spicy sauce tray with pickled peppers, but I think it is probably due to covid. We also ordered some crab rangoon, crispy spicy wings, tom yum and boat noodles. I didn't have high expectations for the crab rangoon since it says they don't have crabmeat but it was seasoned pretty well. Definitely overpriced for what you get and would probably order something else next time. I don't think I will ever understand why Thai restaurants charge so much these. We ordered tom yum for my niece but no one was a fan. It had a strong galangal flavor, but I think it we would have ordered it spicy it would have tasted better. Overall, our experience was great. Service was nice, friendly and they were very attentive. I cannot wait to go back and try other dishes! read more

Definitely a new fave spot! It's hard to find- my GPS was super confused, but I'm glad I kept looking. From the outside it's kinda blah and nondescript, but the inside was so charming. It was spotlessly clean and all of the staff couldn't have been nicer. We both loved our meals- yellow curry with shrimp, although the mild was super mild- I'll do medium next time; and pineapple fried rice with chicken. It needed some oomph and the staff happily brought out more pineapple and some sweet & sour sauce made with pineapple juice. So nice! Went here for the first time with my groups of friends a few weeks ago. I ordered their Calamari and Pad Thai at level 2 spiceyness. My friends ordered their Penny's Ragoon, spring rolls, crab fried rice and their stir fry . EVERYTHING was absolutely delicious. Their Penny's ragoon is to die for. The Pad Thai was addicting and the spice level is perfect, kept you wanting to go back for more. 100/10 must try ! read more
