CHAMPION HOME SERVICES DBA KCA Services is a bad choice for your HVAC and Maintenance needs. I purchased my unit from KCA Services and then had to deal with the merger with Champion Home Services. I have a pre-paid maintenance services. It took them 2 months to schedule just to have no one show up. It's difficult to reach a human as they use AI for all customer service calls and scheduling. My only option is to reschedule the appointment with AI and wait yet another 2 months because they are completely booked. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.... THEY ARE NOT RELIABLE read more

The AC in my daughter house quit cooling and it was on a Saturday. I called Champion Home Services around 1 p.m. They had Mark Hatfield, one of their service technicians was at my location by 3 p.m. He was very thorough and took the time to show my what was wrong with the unit. It's an old HVAC unit. Unfortunately, the cost of the replacement part installed was more than I wanted to spend on an old AC unit. I elected to just replace the unit. Mark was able to schedule someone from Champion to meet with me the following day. I am very happy with Mark Hatfield and Champion Home Services quick response. I have used Champion before and will use them again. And, if he is available, I will ask them to send Mark Hatfield and my next service call. He's a good guy. MRC read more

I contacted KCA Services in 2022 as I knew that an HVAC in the upstairs portion of our home was on it's last leg when we moved into the home. I spoke to several services and after what I felt was stellar Customer Service and Great Follow up chose KCA Services to install a Brand New Unit. I was initially used to TRANE Units from our previous home but was told that American Standard was the same company and make the same product as TRANE. I was told that American Standard was a great product and we were getting an upgrade with the system we chose. We completed the Install Around April of 2022. The installation immediately had issues but I must say to be fair that the company provided guarantees that a $500 No Hassle Discount would be provided and after finding that the system was not properly installed, the GM granted me that. After this, I reviewed the guarantees of Lowering our Monthly Electric Bill by 30%, 10 Year Warranty and so on. During this time period, we began to almost immediately experience issues. We contacted KCA Services and each time they came out to service the system. The first issue was approximately a few weeks after install and the problems persists. After several service calls in the first few months as the system would sporatically stop working at any given time. I thought - maybe user error but each time they came out and found another issue that they thought would correct it. At one point, one gentlemen came out and actually contacted the Manufacturer and found a Wiring Issue and the system worked smoothly for several months. After this, the system began to malfunction again. Over the course of two years, we had no less than 15 service calls to determine the issue with this brand new American Standard System. Finally, we left for a couple of days to come back to a home overheated and over 80 Degrees. WE contacted them and began speaking to our attorney. Each time the company responded to our calls but the problem was not being corrected. I began to feel as if this was not being treated as an Urgent Problem and Passive. The company came out and replaced the outside unit and no more than a couple of weeks later, the system failed AGAIN. I requested COMPENSATION AT THIS POINT FROM THE COMPANY for two years of frustration, moved plans, delayed business trips and other sleeping arrangements. The GM offered a nominal amount and I refused this. They did come out to change out the Inside Unit and the Owner of Southern Air (Corporate Owner) did contact me and assured me that this problem would be corrected. Both the inside and the outside unit was replaced as they found that the Zoning Board that was initially installed was not compatible and in turn caused the unit to not function properly and corrode upon itself. The company came to change the inside unit on a Friday and remained as I felt the technicians were trying to resolve the issue. The system has functioned for exactly five days since all has been changed out. We had to await the correct zoning board as the second board they brought was still not compatible. Tonight is June 5th, 2024 and low and behold - the system IS NOT FUNCTIONING. The Second Brand New System. I do not support AMERICAN STANDARD and I can't support KCA as my compensation requests have been denied thus far and I am at a loss as how to overcome this investment of over $15,000 and suffered this amount of time. read more

We called KCA recently because our heater was malfunctioning. Their staff answering the phone immediately and the receptionist was courteous. She scheduled an appointment for the repair in a reasonable time. The repair was done quickly and without a hitch. Great job. We asked for a second visit, to start a periodic maintenance service with KCA. The technician called to inform us he we would arrive a bit late, which was fine. The work was done professionally. The only thing that we really did not appreciate was the technician telling us about the foam insulation in our attic being sloppily installed (it is supposed to be sprayed/applied broadly) and him trying to upsell us on unnecessary add-ons (Patriot Carbon UV-C lights at $1890 and four surge protectors at $1,152.00). Had the technician not tried to upsell us on those very expensive items, I would gladly give this locally owned company a 5-star review. read more

Tech comes over to my home. The date was 07/08/22. Hot days!! Told him air not cooling. Says the part he needs is in San Antonio and will get it ordered. Thanks!!!! Hotter than hell but I appreciate you waiting. Not like someone could go pick up the part. Funny thing is , this part that needed to be replaced. So we could get air. On 7/10/22 overnight the air came back on itself!!! I would not recommend this company. Love how most of these companies say OPEN 24 HOURS!! Not looking for a secretary. Looking for someone to solve a problem and this company failed twice. My dad likes this company for some reason. I never did . I was right. Lazy company!! Still waiting on the part.... It appears KCA may take advantage of its customers. I find it hard to believe this company has anywhere close to a 4.5-5.0 star rating. Here's an example of my recent experience: Air Conditioner quit working on 6/4/22. On the good side it was over the weekend and they showed up at 10 pm to check the unit. Technician advised that it was a bad capacitor and also a new starter kit was needed. Total cost charged for both was $550. He also advised that I needed coils cleaned. I shared that I was paying for KCAs bi-annual maintenance plan, but no one had been out. He scheduled a maintenance visit and on Friday 6/17, the same technician showed up to do the maintenance. He was about to leave and I asked if he had cleaned the coils. He said oh, and proceeded to open the outside unit back up and wash the coils. Monday 6/20, A/C quits again. Same technician shows up and tells me that compressor is bad and it will be $4127 to replace. He stated since my system is about 12 years old, I should really consider putting in a whole new system and then proceeds to give me quotes for four (4) options: A Supreme System 18-21 SEER at $24,897, a 4 ton Heat Pump System 16-18 SEER @ $19,582, a 4 ton Heat Pump System (was told 16 SEER, but couldn't find on quote) @ $16,483, and lastly a 4 ton Heat Pump - 14 SEER system @ $11,597 (Which he stated that beginning next year would no longer be able to be installed in homes). I had no air and its been over 100 degrees outside so I was under duress, but luckily decided the costs sounded a high so I opted to hold off and get a second opinion. I contacted another local air conditioning company and they came out today and advised that the starter kit that was installed was not the correct one for my unit and was wired incorrectly. They rewired it and the A/C unit is now running. KCA should be ashamed of these type business practices. I would not recommend to anyone. read more

We gave them multiple chances to rectify the situation and they responded they could charge us an additional $5,000.00 dollars. Excellent company to work with. They are always professional, and do quality work for very fair pricing. I've been taken advantage of by other AC companies and KCA technicians are always upfront and explain everything they do, before they do it and do not try and sell you thousands of dollars in repairs and warranties. Their service is undoubtedly first rate. Just moved to the area and needed our AC/Heat checked. The service man explained all that he checked, suggested a few changes, and made sure any insulation he knocked out of the attic was cleaned up. KCA installed new compressor on my unit 2.5 years ago and it recently went out (compressors are built to last 15-20 years). When I called them out they couldn't care less that the compressor had gone out so quickly and promptly offered a quote of $3700 to install yet another compressor yet they pushed really hard for me to buy a complete new system from them for almost $10,000. I went out to get other estimates to replace the compressor and those ranged from $2400 - $3300 (all cheaper than KCA) and ended up getting a brand new condenser unit installed for only $2900 from somebody else ($800 cheaper than KAC wanted to only replace compressor). I even let KCA know that I was selling the current house and would be needing two complete new units in new house I was purchasing most likely in next 1-2 years but that provided them no incentive to step up and make the situation right so now they've lost out on that business also. If you want an AC company that is looking out for your best interests and will go take care of you, don't call KCA. Tim read more

I support local Boerne businesses and have used this company for checkups for years. I think it has overgrown its capability and no longer provides caring local service. They sent different technicians with each visit, unfamiliar with the previous visits. They gave a very high quote for a/c replacement at first and when we couldn't afford it they came back the next day with a lower quote. All quotes and options should be given at one time with the customer allowed to decide which one is appropriate for them. This is a disreputable practice. Another company referred to them as flat raters but I am unsure of its meaning. I would not recommend this company even though they were prompt and polite. Overall, true customer service was not provided. read more
