The pastrami was an extra $3, which felt like quite a bit for the amount added, and the sandwich came out to around $9. Overall, it was okay, but I didn't think it was worth the price. It didn't taste bad by any means, but there wasn't anything particularly special about it. I was also a little thrown off that the egg was cooked in a microwave rather than on the griddle. Maybe that's just their way of doing things, but it took away from the sandwich for me. Not a bad experience, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way for this particular sandwich.

BUYER BEWARE! Most of the staff is rude and the entire business is a scam. Find a local farmer and…read morepurchase meat from them instead. Our household shopped at Dorfler's for 13 years. It always felt a little strange that they never had pricing visible. Every other butcher I have ever been to since childhood has always had prices visible. You would go in, order, and pay whatever they charge you at checkout. But the products were good enough and I was happy to support a local business. Over the years we have ordered a beef tenderloin roast during the holiday season when it is on sale for $34.99/lb. It has always been very pricey but (as far as we know) we were never cheated on the price and the product the way we were this year. We ordered one 3lb beef tenderloin roast. We were explicit when placing the order that we wanted one piece of meat that was 3lbs. The person who took the order was rude but seemed to understand the request. When we got the roast home I did the math because the bill was a lot more than expected. We were charged over $41/lb. When I called to ask about why the price was so high I was put on hold and the rude man that picked up next told me "it's trimmed. We charge you for the weight before trimming." This means Dorfler's supposedly trimmed off about 3/4 lb of fat. That is a lot of fat to trim off of a 3lb roast and if I was going to be charged for it why was the fat not offered to me as part of my order? Unfortunately, we accepted this explanation. The roast was wrapped in butcher paper which we did not open because we put it straight in the freezer for a week before defrosting it. We finally opened the butcher paper on New Year's Eve to prepare the roast to have on New Year's Day and were appalled that Dorfler's clearly lied to us. There were 3lbs of meat in two small roast each vacuum sealed in plastic by their distributor. This means that Dorfler's not only WAY overcharged us for the amount of meat we received, they also charged us for 3/4lb of fat they never really trimmed off. I am not even sure why they bothered with the butcher paper at all, except they probably charged us for that, too. If I could give Dorfler's zero stars I would. Also the obvious direct response to this negative review is a pathetic attempt to save face regarding your tenderloin roast "sale." Patricia W. is likely related. Why else would she disagree with facts? Dorfler's is nothing but a lying bunch of cheats who screw their loyal customers every chance they get. Some just haven't figured it out yet. And now they blocked me on Facebook. Keep it up guys. You are proving how crooked you are and how you can't handle the truth being told about your disgusting business of cheating loyal customers.

GFS carries a lot of name brand items, as well as their own generic GFS products. In the past I have purchased coffee, soda, desserts, chips, cookies, cakes, pre-made salads, bagels, chili, beef, buns, taco stuffings, guacamole, produce, disposable tablecloths, paper products and decor items. I've never had a problem with anything. Quality has been far above average. I find that their prices are extremely competitive, too. I appreciate the fact that they break down pricing on their shelf tags. For example: they break down soup costs and give you the price per serving. This is very important in my line of work. 3/$9 name brand soda sales are awesome. Stock up! Most items are sold in bulk, so be prepared for that. They don't offer a huge variety of fresh produce items, but they do sell the essentials; apples, oranges, strawberries, salad mixes, peppers, etc. Sign-up for email alerts. They typically include a $5 off $50 purchase. I just got (2) $5 of $50 coupons via snail mail that I'll definitely be able to use. Great parking lot; clean & spacious. Shopping carts are well-maintained and corralled in one place. You won't find carts all over the parking lot here or miscellaneous trash hanging around. However, I came in on this day to try their Friday promo of 12 raw oysters for $12. You do need to have an Amazon Prime account to get the deal. I heard about this deal from a neighbor pal who is a big fan and oyster lover. I would say it was an ok deal, and I'm going with 3.49 stars, as the oysters are all on the smallish side. They're regularly priced at $1.99 apiece, and for comparison if you have them say at Shaw's, they go for $4 apiece there fyi. You can't really enjoy them in their dining space though unless you want to buy lemons and/or cocktail sauce, as none is provided, so we did a carryout which is apparently the most common approach. Carryout is fine as they are iced and as long as you eat them within 2 hours. They had 3 types of oysters and they are the typical offerings year round we were told - Atlantic Blue Point, Rappahannock Atlantic, and Atlantic Wellfleet. I queried a bit with Terry, one of the two seafood staffers on duty, and he told me Blue Points were the most popular and Rappahannocks were the biggest. I don't know anything about the multitude of oyster varieties, but I do like the idea of getting the biggest for the buck as they all taste pretty much the same to me. I also noticed they were only about 1/4 to 1/3 the size of the big oysters we get in a Chinatown restaurant(!), duh, but that's an aside. Anyway we ordered 6 Blue Points and 6 Rappahannocks. They made for a nice lunch side at home and a nice little foodie treat. The two varieties tasted very similar but the Rappahannocks might have been a little fishier tasting. Kyle was the staffer who did the shucking (and Terry said he was the best shucker in all of Park Ridge!), and he indeed did a masterful and excellent job as you couldn't even tell they were shucked as the shells were carefully reassembled so beautifully. I actually raised my rating by 1/2 star just because of Kyle's fine work ha. It was all fun, but probably still a one and done on the promo unless I find out they are going to bigger oyster varieties some day!
