Bagels are awesome! Counter help friendly and polite Deli options are delicious. Soups are excellent.

You'd have to go to New York to get better bagels, and even then you might not succeed. The bagels are fresh made on site, they have wonderful lox and whitefish, and their bagel sandwiches are generous and flavorful. The bagels are wonderfully chewy, and taste good plain or toasted. They use fresh ingredients on the sandwiches. Service is always quick. You can also pick up all the ingredients and take them home to make yourself. They have competitive prices for a dozen bagels to take to the office. As a side bonus, the day old bagels are really competitively priced, and so I usually get a bag to take home. read more

Always visit them every other Tuesday for their weekly Dozen Bagels for $10 special. Bagels are warm and chewy, just as I like them. Freeze a 1/2 dozen to keep them fresh and go through the others throughout the week. The sandwiches I've brought home from them are always great!!! read more

Stopped by on Saturday afternoon... they were completely out of bialys. Like, how does a deli run out of bialys? That's like a pizzeria running out of dough. Bagels tasted kinda stale too -- like they'd been sitting around waiting for someone to love them since Thursday. And I gotta ask... why is a deli blasting loud Mexican music? I love the vibe in the right setting, but here it just felt random and out of place. Kinda threw off the whole "classic deli" thing. Overall? Meh. Not coming back for that. read more

I've seen this place for a while and finally had an opportunity to give it a try. When you first enter, there isn't any wayfinding, just an open counter with no particular queue pattern. The ambiance is not that appealing so I really hoped the bagels shined. Unfortunately, I think they fell flat. The crust of the bagel seemed stale and the interior of it had chew, but wasn't enough to wow me. The bacon is entirely too salty and the hash browns were dry, unseasoned potatoes. Not a good way to start the New Year. I went here for a sandwich and a few bagels to bring home. Look at my two corned beef sandwich pics, one from years ago and one from this morning. It's at least half the size of the older pic. It was mostly bread!!! So very disappointed and to make matters worse the bagels were not fresh, so forget about my old glowing 5 star review. Food was excellent but the owner or manager was grumpy and awful. Service was slow but waiters were kind, even though clearly not treated well by owner. Owner told my husband to stop making a mess as he dropped a paper towel and it was by his seat. Also a sign in the restroom asked for no toilet paper to be put in toilet or it will clog. Seriously? My husband asked him about it thinking it was an error and he didn't understand what he meant or just ignored him. We hadn't been here in years and unfortunately due to the horrid attitude of owner we won't be back. read more

I'm not fully understanding a punch card I ordered two lox and bagel sandwiches at 26.72 and asked her to punch my card she gave me one punch on my card and she said you only get one punch for two sandwiches. So does that mean you get a half a punch for one ? When I bought a sandwich before I got a punch. On the card it says nothing of this. read more

I just recently checked out this place for the first time. I had lived in Wheeling for a long time and never went here. I don't why. I was in a mood for bagels and deli meat to make sandwiches so I decided to check this place out finally. Usually, it's ideally to go to bagel shops early after they open but I couldn't get my butt out the door until after 11:00 A.M. It was a Saturday after all...heheh! Once I got here, I saw the sign for mask required (no mask, no service) due to COVID. There were some patrons sitting in their patio area, enjoying the nice weather and their meal and some others inside getting their grub. I took my time deciding what I wanted because a) it was my first time there and b) there were plenty of options to choose from and I wanted to get exactly the thing(s) I was craving. I ordered seven (Cheese, Cinnamon Raisin, Everything (2), French Onion, Jalapeno (2)) bagels, four Ruggelah (or Ruggelach + other spelling variations) pastry (2 Apricot & 2 Raspberry), 1/4 regular corned beef, 1/4 pastrami, 1/4 turkey pastrami, Lox spread and Veggie spread. I wanted to try their Bialys too but the selection did not appeal to me. I figured since it was my first time, I make the most of the visit since I don't know when I'll return here again. The food is a bit on the pricey side but if you haven't had it before then it is definitely worth checking out at least once. I liked their bagels. I tried all but the Cinnamon Raisin as that was for my son. The flavor of the bagels was quite good but I wasn't a fan of their texture. The bagels were hard to begin with. Not sure if that was because they were made earlier in the day and then sat at the room temperature Or if that's how their bagel specialty is? The bagels did taste much better after toasting. Their deli meats like the corned beef and pastrami (didn't have the turkey pastrami as that was for my wife) were quite good. I got the regular kind instead of the lean kind. The pastrami was da bomb. It was quite flavorful. The spreads were nice too. I can't remember if I've had Lox spread before or not. If not for the hard texture of all the bagels, I would have given this place full five stars as I indeed became a fan after checking it out and would go back. But I guess I am more of a fan of soft yet firm bagels then just hard bagels. And after having arguably the best bagels I had at St.-Viateur, in Montreal, it's hard to not use it as a measuring stick to compare others (even if made differently) with it. Although, I am kinda embarrassed to say that I haven't had NY bagels in NYC in the few times I have been there. Anyway, I digressed. Check out this shop. It's a local institution where you'll find a good variety of bagels and bialys plus deli meat, pastries, sandwiches more. It's worth a visit. read more

They are selling their building and getting out of business apparently and it really shows. I ordered my fav, lox plate, and it came with bunch of things missing and like a joke of a dish. What a shame! Just terrible and the ingredients that they DID have on were not fresh at all. Onion and tomato with salmon on bagel with toothpick DOES NOT make a lox platter. Shame on you. read more

Great sandwiches and really good soup. Ask for a combo so that you get the best of both worlds. More than ample portions with a modest amount of space to dine in. I really like this place and their quality seems outstanding. Recommended without reservation. However, if you are looking for ambiance, this isn't the place. I work pretty close and often stop and pick up bagels in the morning for the office. The bagels are "Real" not round bread (looking at you Panera). They have excellent chew and are often still warm. They also have excellent cream cheese and I always get a package of scallion. The sandwiches are very good as well, we have ordered take out many times and it's my favorite place to stop on the way to Ravinia. I am slightly obsessed with "Lons Turkey Reuben '' I don't know why but it's one of the great sandwiches I have ever had, so perfect in every way. The perfect turkey with 1000 island and coleslaw it's a match made in heaven. I have had other things like the Pastrami and they are all good. I just wish it was close to my house instead of my office. read more

I got the belly lox and it was just the right amount of salty. The everything bagel was incredible and not too dense at all. The cream cheese was so fresh. I got the normal coleslaw which also was great. The bacon egg and cheese bagel was huge and the egg was freshly cooked. Hash browns were so good l. The people make it what it is too. We have been to a second location before, but stopped today for a bite in our car while we waited for am appointment. The bacon egg and cheese bagel sandwich was one of the best I ever had. Freshly fried eggs, tons of cheese, thick crisp bacon on what I think of as a traditional bagel. An almost crispy outside, chewy flavorful inside. I had an egg bagel, but my wife got the sesame. We argued about whose was better, so I think we both won. Coffee was good, as was the bag of toasted bagel "crisps". Would come back to try lunch and matzo ball soup. I've driven past this place for years and finally decided to give it a try. There are very few decent delis in the area so I really wanted to live this place. Came in for a bagel and a smear but then was enticed by a pastrami Reuben. Should have stuck with the bagel. The Reuben was generous, and let's face it pastrami is not a lean cut. However, between meat that was so tough that I couldn't get my teeth into and extraordinary amounts of fat, I wasn't really left with much else but bread in the sandwich. Their food is good, but I'm sorry to say their customer service is always the worst. Busy or empty, no one is welcoming, not even acknowledging you if you are waiting at the counter. Just unfriendly/uncaring all around. No one wants to be there and as a customer it makes you not want to be there either. Service for the simplest of things takes several minutes. It also appears dirtier lately, dust caked on the ceiling & air vent right above where they handle food. In any case, there are comparable places with friendlier service & we'll be patronizing them. Not sure how this place stays in business honestly. And it's such a shame, it could be so great. read more

We ordered deli trays from them for an event on Arlington Heights years ago and they were really outstanding. Last week I found myself driving by on my way back to Oak Park after an early morning meeting in Buffalo Grove and decided to stop and get a lox sandwich on an Everything bagel and a dozen Everything bagels to take home. Went there for the first time this morning. My order took forever which was confusing since there was only one person ahead of me. It took 16 minutes to her a plain bagel and one bagel sandwich. Then the order came and it was totally wrong, cream cheese not on the side and no avocado on my sandwich. Everything tasted ok but I dont think I'll be coming back. read more

Straight up bagels....is that an oxymoron?! Their bagels are fresh and delicious. When we pulled in to an empty parking lot at 3:15 on a Saturday afternoon, I got a little nervous, but we did not drive all this way to turn around and turn back but rest assured, they were open and waiting for us! :) I learned that you can get a special on a dozen bagels after 3:30 so we ate lunch and then got our baker's dozen bagels to go! Having never been here before, they gave me a "sample" to try before ordering. The "sample" was an ENTIRE bagel. Good sampling, if you ask me. My husband, Steve, ordered a fresh sliced corned beef sandwich on rye with a side of potato salad and I got a bowl of chicken soup with a bialy. The soup was very good and my bialy was awesome. Steve noticed my drooling over his sandwich and allowed me to snag a few bites. Thanks, babe! It really was awesome. Fresh sliced beef piled high on some lovely rye bread with a little mustard made for an amazing sandwich! We took a baker's dozen bagels home to share with friends and family and I did notice the bagels are a little chewy. Now, bagels are notoriously chewy and thats not a bit deal but they were very chewy. I wonder if it's because they were so fresh. Anything is possible. This doesn't mean we didn't like them, I just wanted to share this incase anyone has any issues with chewy foods. In other words, I wouldn't bring these to my grandma. They lose a star from me because we also took a whoopie pie home which I did not hesitate to crack into later that night. Unfortunately, it was a little stale.
