As I read through the other reviews of KDI on this site, I am shocked at what was said and wondered if they wrote the review for the wrong company. My experience with KDI could not have been any better. My grandparents were looking at getting new counter tops in their kitchen and as lifetime Downriver residents, wanted to give their business to a family-owned Downriver company. As life happens, grandparents are generally not the easiest customers to work with. They went in with zero idea of what they wanted and the patience and customer care that KDI displayed could not be duplicated. My grandparents visited the showroom practically every other week, full of questions and often changing their minds. For the rest of our family, this was a tedious process of them trying to come to a decision of what they wanted for their kitchen. The staff at KDI continued to be patient, informative, and exceptionally kind. The owner himself was available by phone and in person when questions arose. When my grandparents finally made their decision it was near Christmastime and KDI was, of course, quite busy with holiday jobs. However, KDI still came out to measure in a timely manner. While measuring, my grandmother was complaining she couldn't find a paint color she liked and the KDI employee suggested a color he used in his own home, which she ended up loving and using herself!! Installation began within a week and the job was done with precision and care. You cannot see a single seam in the counter top and my grandparents could not be more thrilled with the job. Anyone who can provide excellent quality service to some of the more persnickety customers deserve to have their praises sung on Yelp. Often people hop immediately on the internet when they want to complain and have someone listen to them. It is those who are happy with the job who don't feel the need to write about it and instead invite all their family over to enjoy a meal in the new kitchen. read more

I went to KDI after I had checked all the big box stores for cabinetry. Being a custom cabinet maker and millwork specialist, I do look for quality craftsmanship and know; "when to hold em and when to fold em". I worked with their designer Kathleen, knew what my customers wanted, and found the all plywood Diamond and Waypoint cabinetry, complete with soft close drawers and doors to be right on point! These are much heavier duty than particle board cabinets and weigh much less. For me it's always about strength, the foundation is paramount to getting a superior outcome. Kathleen was amazing, rendered all the appropriate cad drawings; I never had to tell her how to do her job. She knew enough to order and included all the key components, like plywood shelves, base, crown, scribe and filler. This was not picture board stuff... it was high quality real wood with the same exceptional finish that was on the cabinets and raised panel doors!! Everything came in right on time, including all the other materials I had ordered from the warehouse; Paul there is truly amazing also. These people went beyond themselves to fill my order. Our KDI experience was really good. We had a tight timeline as we were leaving for vacation and wanted the Kitchen done before we left. Our rep Jeff assured us it would be done. It was. Jeff explained the process answered our questions, then turned us over to Rich the crew leader who came out and double checked everything and pointed out some things we would not have thought of. Rich was really great to work with. There were some real head scratchers that he had to deal with and he rose to the occasion. The whole crew, Scott, Bill and Ron, not only did a great job, they were really nice guys that explained everything they were doing. There were a couple of other guys that came out for specific tasks, they were really nice and very professional too. Rich would tell us everyday what was going to be done and who was going to do it. Lots of tile work on walls and floor, and it is perfect thanks to Scott. All of the crew cared about the work they did. Just don't find that often. Best crew ever!! We started working with KDI about 2 months ago, for kitchen cabinets, a wet bar, and hi-Mac countertops. We met in the showroom a few times, and had them out to measure, and each meeting was very pleasant. Everyone we have worked with has been extremely friendly. The wet bar was a last minute decision, and they were able to free someone up rather quickly to come do the install. While the main kitchen cabinets were being installed, the uppers were a little shorter than we had anticipated, so the owner of KDI came out, within 15 minutes of being called, with a solution. They installed the kitchen cabinets two weeks earlier than expected, which was fantastic. Everything looks amazing, and we could not be happier. The cabinets are amish made, and beautiful. We have had a very pleasant experience working with KDI. I highly recommend this company. read more

I had my kitchen remodeled in 2017 by KDI. From start to finish the job only took a little over 4 weeks. Kathleen was excellent in helping me pick out cabinets, flooring, counter top, etc -- there are a lot of decisions and I thank her for her input. In the end -- it looks wonderful. The main craftsmen (Bob G, Bob T and Steve) were so professional and talented. A bonus was I only had to crate my dog for one day -- she is kind of spoiled and used to the run of the house and they all were great with her, Especially Bob G who she ended up liking more then me. Bob T even hooked up my new appliances and made sure I was happy with the completed job. When I found a flaw (and felt bad for being so picky) they came out right away and fixed it. I am very pleased and highly recommend KDI. read more

Had my kitchen remodeled in 2014, best thing I ever did! We went to the box stores to look at cabinets and got 3 contractor estimates. Went with KDI, they helped us through the whole process, and answered all our questions, had some suggestions too. They worked with us, we did some work ,but they did the most and in a couple months my kitchen was transformed! Jeff and the crew were great! Went above and beyond throughout the job! I would highly recommend them! Recently we had a window install issue come up, called Jeff (3 years later), he took care of us with what we needed and happily, my windows are in and beautiful A company that's truly there for you with whatever your needs are! KDI was very patient with us as we tried to make up our minds as to exactly how we wanted to remodel our bathroom. Their patience continued as we changed our minds several times. They were very helpful with the best suggestion for the size room and the colors and materials that fit our personalities. Finally when we made up our minds, KDI scheduled the start of the remodel and their closes approximation of when the work would be complete. KDI was true to their word. The job started and was completed quickly and on time. I found the installers polite, and professional. I wish I could steal them for other work I have in mind. In a nutshell, I would recommend KDI to anyone for excellent work and a fair price. read more

I recently had a kitchen remodel. After careful thought and consideration as to what I wanted, I choose KDI. This was my first experience with KDI and a very positive one from start to finish. Jeff The sales rep was available to answer any questions or concerns. After discussing my likes and dislikes and what I was looking for, Jeff was able to make a perfect recommendation for me on cabinets and countertop. The crew was easy to work with, knowledgeable in their field and provided quality workmanship. They provided fantastic service and clean up. We had our bathroom gutted & remodeled. Jeff the salesman was very helpful in designing, selecting cabinets & tiles. The products used were quality & we are very pleased with the final result. Our installer Scott was wonderful, arriving when he said he would & working around a previously scheduled medical procedure. I felt bad when he was cutting tile in below freezing weather we had this past year & Scott preservered with a smile on his face. I was getting frustrated with many contractors and stores telling me I couldn't recreate the custom made vanity in my bathroom. I was driving past KDI in Trenton and stopped in but was already feeling discouraged. Thank you to Kathleen at the Trenton store for making the process easy. I showed her a picture and she designed what I needed within my budget too. I did have the countertop installed by kdi and it was done quickly and I love it. KDI will definitely be my first stop on my next project. read more

They suggested improvements on our original design and did everything 'the right way', not cutting corners but taking ride in their work. Me & my wife currently had our kitchen re-done by KDI. it was an easy process and Jeff the salesman did a fantastic job by helping us pick out the colors of our cabinets and countertops and backsplash. the installers did a fantastic job and the job turned out great. we will be back to get our bathroom redone. read more
