I initially was pleased with everyone's efforts at Kearns Motor Car Co--from sales to financing to management. The finance manager worked diligently trying to obtain financing for the balance of the vehicle I selected, and he succeeded which I thoroughly appreciated considering my "challenging" credit issues. Communication with all involved continued but then stopped after several days, this occurring after all documents were signed and updated, my $5100 deposit received, and all information requested by the finance company accepted and documented. By the end of last week, my associate, Josh, estimated that the car would be in transit soon but he could not commit to a definitive date. He assured me that they would work around my schedule so I would be home when their shipper arrived with the vehicle. Out of the blue, I receive a call from the shipper's driver stating he was at my location with the vehicle. My issue here is that no one contacted me with any indication that the shipper planned to arrive on Friday with the vehicle--no phone call, text, or email. I work several hours away from my residence and there was no one available at my home to receive the vehicle. Moreover, I needed to unpack my vehicle and prepare it for the shipper to transport to Kearns. Because of the lack of communication, I had no choice but to call off the deal, Livid by this time, I became frustrated and stressed and demanded back my down payment immediately (which I have not received). Speaking to a manager on Saturday==who spoke with great integrity and kindness--I attempted to try having it shipped again, but the powers to be stated I would have to pay $2600 in shipping costs. Does this seem fair, considering this was no fault of my own, but the responsibility of the dealership and their third party shipping service? Thus, the deal was off and my frustration, stress, and disappointment consumed my entire weekend. The issue here is failure on the part of Kearns to effectively and thoroughly communicate. read more

If I was able to give this facility a BIG FAT 0 I would. Sold me a $52K High Country Suburban. Upon delivery of vehicle, it doesn't work. Sensors for service the leveling system is on the dash. Dealership refuses to take ownership of the poor transaction that was made. Will be taking legal actions on this. I didn't have the vehicle in my possession for 12 hours. Unreal. Red flags/ old school sales tactics ... buyer beware! I have seen so many negative reviews about this dealership and the reviews are not wrong! My experience proved that these dealers have been taught old school scam sales tactics. 1. High-pressure sales tactics using term that are" time sensitive". When saying your interested but want to take time researching the car and other options/dealerships- Judy pushed "this offer is time sensitive so we hope to that you will respond very soon to schedule" then when I schedule they play the tactics to push further -Tommy stated "you can make an appointment -as long as the vehicle is still available" - didn't offer the option of a refundable deposit to hold the vehicle for my appointment 2, Manipulative financing, Judy and Tommy wanted all focus on the monthly payment- what I can bring for trade in and down payment rather than the total cost of the car- and when I wanted to only talk about lowering the car price point it was ignored by Judy until I told them again I'm not bringing a trade in or down payment to the table until the car price is lowered. Car price was lowered but i can assure you they will bring that final price right back up with all the add ons-as we know the profit margin for them selling add ons is 40-80%... old school tactics teach these dealers if you don't sell a warranty, its hardly even worth selling the car- and push hard -Some of the old sales training manuals teach these dealers if you weren't told "no" 7 times, you should not accept no as the final answer. 3. Terrible presentation of the car when coming to a test drive. I gave 1 week notice of my appointment (even though again I was pressed to come to the dealership sooner)- the car absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke, prior to the test drive it was never disclosed the prior owner was a smoker. They offered the possibility of ionizing the car that "might" get the smell out... but why was it not initially cleaned /ionized ?! Then they played it off- the "boss"Tim had to "smell the car himself to confirm my claim and OK the ionization ". "Boss" Tim said "sure it kind of smelled" but pressed that I sign all paperwork that day- pressed this 4 times. Said " it will take a few days to clean so sign off today and we will call you next week after we have tried to clean it ". I said I wanted to smell it again after it is cleaned before deciding whether I want to buy or not. Boss did the old school tactic of hesitation and "give me a few minutes " walked away- came back and said ok we will clean it and call you to check it out. I asked how long the clean will take they said we will call you to view it again by Wednesday (test drive was the Saturday prior). Well Wednesday timeframe came and went- no call no updates. Also- during my experience weird email situations occured- not sure what tactic this is but- days before my test drive appointment Tommy emailed me " I just wanted to thank you for coming in today and allowing me the pleasure of helping you with your vehicle-buying decisions. " I had not yet visited the dealership when this was sent. Then Tommy emailed me the day prior my appointment "I just wanted to reach out and confirm your appointment for tomorrow." And again just after I met Tommy and completed my appointment I got an email from Tommy "Sorry I missed you today. When you get a chance, please give me a call and I'll schedule a time that is more convenient for you. " All of these things are total Red Flags! I Ran far away from this dealership and recommend any buyers to run also!! I have gone a with another dealership that did not use any of these tactics and I'm very pleased with them and so glad I ran away from Kearns read more

These guys ripped me off. Sold me a lemon car 2018 Ford Edge for $27,000. The motor is shot. Still owe $11,600 on car. They want $7,000 to replace the motor. I bought the extended Platinum Warranty (another $2600) which covers NOTHING. They also would not get me a loaner car unless I paid an additional $40/day and charged me $164 to do a pressure test. This company is a joke and will rip you off. DO NOT BY FROM KEARNS. BUYER BEWARE. I would give 0 stars if I could. Come on Kearns do the right thing and reimburse me some money. This is the second time I visited the dealership. The first time, the cars that I was interested in were parked outside in the lot. The sales rep was quick to come to my assistance. Very friendly and helpful. My second visit, once again, the sales rep welcomed me. This time the cars were parked on the show floor. I simply asked if the sales rep could open the door of one of the cars I was interested in, I simply wanted a better look at the interior of one of the cars and possibly sit in the car. He told me that he could not do that. I thought that was rather odd. I came there dressed in business casual. I am in my 70's and I drove to the dealership in my Mercedes Benz. I had bought a 2015 Silverado 1500 from Kearns and everything was going great, 6 days after driving it the transmission broke completely so I had to bring my truck to Kearns on a trailer and I spoke to some people and explained what had happened, they looked over the truck charge free which is great, however, they wanted to charge me an outrageous amount for a new transmission and labor, I was very upset about this and took it to another shop for less than half of what Kearns wanted to charge me, I was hoping they could at least do something for me considering I had less than 300 miles on the truck since purchase, but nope, I guess not, I DO NOT recommend buying a vehicle from here and I personally will NEVER go back to this dealership. read more

Found a vehicle on their website we really liked, got pre approved for it but still wanted to test drive it, however on the day we were going to do that, after texting back and forth for 4 days and him confirming we were coming the next day. On the day we were to leaving to do that, all of sudden someone just happened to come test drive it and bought it before we could even get there. It was an hour away for us. Basically they sold it right out from under us. I think they had the other people scheduled before us but didn't bother to tell me that, they were even approved for a loan yet. Recently purchased a truck from Kearns Motor Car Co, Johnson Creek WI, Wishful thinking on my part that I may have found a "Good Dealership"....Anything but, my son purchased the truck with a very good cash down-payment. Unfortunately he was 6 weeks away from getting his license back due to a traffic violation, the truck had sat idle for that time. Once reinstated there was excitement on his face like i had never seen before, driving a vehicle he scored with his $....he was PROUD, not only with his new truck, but with Kearns. Things shortly took a turn for the worst, 265 miles into new ownership there were issues. Truck decided that it didn't want to move, so we had trailered it directly into the dealership instantly assumed transmission, but figured we'd better take it in for a professional opinion. After review Kerns had confirmed the worst...it would need a transmission. Figured they may cost share with us, only because we hadn't put more than 300 miles on it, once quoted Curtis called to update me. Cost would be $5,700, which they agreed to pay 20% of...thats completely ridiculous. Bottom line after the 20% so called discount, we would have still been paying the full price of the re-man along with labor, leaving them with profit. With that being said, save your money and go elsewhere, maybe to a dealership that isn't living in a sports car fantasy world! After test driving truck drove fine until you put in 4wheel drive and it wasn't working properly and needed to be fixed asked for money off so I could have it fixed and he told me no he had another couple coming in that would buy it the next day. Just stay away. Before the weather got cold, my wife and I both experienced slow leaks in one of our tires. My wife went in on one of their $10 oil change deals and also asked to have the tire repaired from the leak. They changed the oil and told her there was no leak and merely added air to her tire. Shortly after this, I went there to get my tire's leak fixed. They came back to me in the waiting room and said they couldn't find any leak, but my oil pan had oil on it and THAT may be leaking. I told them that I wasn't there to waste my time, or theirs, on a false claim about a leaky tire. The tire lost 4 pounds every night, which pretty much told me it was either in the rim or the stem. I actually had to demand that they take the tire off the rim to inspect it. Did they? I really don't know because the tire still leaked after they sent me on my way, leaving my money behind. I called three days later and left a message for them to call me (since their calls go to voice mail), and have yet to hear from them..... So now, my wife's tire is leaking 7 pounds every night and mine at 4. Since this place couldn't find the leak, and charged us already - twice, I went to a little hole-in-the-wall place in town where the guy had my tire off and within 30 SECONDS found the leak in the rim while I stood there!! Now, both my wife and I can drive safely, with confidence, in the repair work done - by someone else! Don't let that big fancy building fool you. They lost the business I was eager to provide. Why would you trust them with more difficult issues when they can't repair the simplest one? I forgot to add, the source of the leak in my wife's tire (that couldn't be found by the mechanic) was a nail. Just stay away.... read more

DO NOT BUY HERE!!!! #Dishonest #Lies I purchased a 2016 Dodge Challenger Hellcat from here and was informed the car included a 3 year warranty. When I talked with Kearns about this car they told me it was the owners personal car and that he was selling it with only 2,500 miles. I felt the car was in good condition based on everything we discussed over the phone so I decided to purchase the car, a few weeks after I picked it up I took it to my local dealership for a software update - It was after I picked up the car that my dealership called to inform me the warranty was not valid and were I to bring it back or to any other dealership in the future it would not be serviceable under warranty. After several weeks of discussions on the phone with Dodge and Kearns it turns out this was not the owners car but was actually bought at an auction. In addition, the car was originally purchased and registered in Canada and at some point the car was transferred to the US improperly. This is why the basic warranty shows up, however what you don't see is where the warranty is actually valid - dealerships don't see this until they try and file a claim against the warranty...hence, servicing the car. LIES. Long story short - my car warranty is void in the US...where I live obviously. After talking with the owner of Kearns Motor Car (Steve), he fully admitted it was a mistake on their behalf as they went off of what their local Dodge dealership told them over the phone. He was not willing to honor the original warranty stated when I bought the 60k car, (it would of cost around 2k for a third party warranty according to him) and as soon as I mentioned bringing this up to the BBB he was in no way cooperative and hung up. I don't know if they were trying to pull a fast one or not but they would not let me return the car for what I originally paid nor would they honor the warranty, had I known the car's warranty was not valid I would have never purchased it! This should be an eye opener for anyone looking to purchase vehicles from here, move on to find another reputable dealership and review their feedback from several sources (Google, Yelp, Facebook, YouTube, etc...) to try and get a consistent perspective. read more

They even let us take it home for the night, which is almost unheard of anymore. This place is a scam, free life time engine warranty ha you are paying for it in the price and anything of the free bs that u get when u buy it's not free, advertise 3000 dollar or more off no sale just a high window sticker $17697 for 2003 so it was $13697 no sale. kbb is $13000 and the other dealers in madison or by are $11000 for the same truck and no check engine light on and tires are good. Was looking for Kearn's number on a search site when I noticed a Yelp and was SHOCKED! Personally, I've purchased three vehicles from Kearns. Every time, before purchasing, I was allowed to test drive the vehicle extensively, look under the hood, kick the tires. The whole nine yards. After spending time finding a ride that rode well for me or my wife, I was also given access to financing through Guardian Credit Union. The approval process was quick and painless and the staff was nothing but nice all throughout. (Guardian did make me pay using a coupon book on my first truck which was a bit annoying but my second car did have online bill pay plus that isn't anything against Kearns. I have yet to meet a single employee at the store that wasn't completely kind and respectful to all my questions. Speaking as a person that doesn't have a huge amount of car knowledge, they can put up with quite alot. Not to mention seeing their involvement in their local community for schools, sports, etc. is a bit refreshing. Again, I've personally had nothing but great repair work and purchases from them. I bought my cars and truck for extremely reasonable prices in line with what I was seeing at Carmax. All in all a great gem of a place to get a car. Just my two cents. read more

This business is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau - stay far away! We were told that the car we purchased had a clean car fax directly by our salesman during the test drive. Four days into driving the car we started to experience issues with the car. Once we started to have a bad feeling about the car we called our salesman and asked for an actual copy of the car fax. Come to find out, it wasn't a clean car fax report. The car had previously been in an accident and one of the issues that was previously "fixed" on the car was the issue we were having four days into owning it. We called Kearns and asked to make this right by letting us return the car and buy back our old car from them. They weren't taking any responsibility for what happened and made an offer that made zero sense financially. We are a local family and will be sure to let all of our friends and family know in the surrounding communities about our experience with Kearns. read more

Last vehicle purchased was 2010 Chrysler T/C-but not a kid buggy, it is my 'covered pick up truck'. Going on my 2nd year and no issues at all. Just wanted to share an amazing experience while traveling last Saturday to our daughters soccer tournament. While en route to Racine, our car started experiencing a rattling wheel which ended up being us losing three lug nuts and two wheel studs. We pulled over to an auto repair shop who had a tech on staff, but said couldn't help me because it was a liability as they weren't officially open. I asked for another repair shop that maybe could help, got another number but this repair shop "wasn't really open." After asking for another option, they recommended Kearns. I got on the phone with Dale at Kearns who said they only had one tech on and were closing in 20 minutes and working on a car already. Asking if there was any chance they could help, he offered to take a look. While at Kearns, Dale started calling all sorts of locations to try and get the right parts to get us back on the road as we would have been stranded. After a few hours past their close time, Dale and this tech got us back on the road and the experience here is one I will never forget. All they do is make sure the car runs and sell it. My new car i just traded the pos for dealer looked up the cars vin and the carfax said it was in two accidents and needed lots of repairs. I asked for a carfax when i bought it and they said there wasnt one... do not go here. I am not happy with the car they sold me or the way they handled my situation. I bought it less than a year ago and already had to put thousands of dollars of work into the car. I took it there and was told that they couldn't do anything for me. I tried to trade it in and they wouldn't even give me what I owe on my loan. They dont even wait for you to park your car before they try and shovel their high prices at you. The process of purchasing our car took longer than expected- 3 days! Gordy was nice, but he didn't perform quality customer service and he made promises that he couldn't keep. Gordy told us that we wouldn't have to make the 40 minute drive if someone else was interested in the same car. Sure enough, we found out that the vehicle was actually in the process of being purchased when we arrived. We got to see a similar vehicle that was still available so that went well and we were very interested. After some processing, we were told that they needed more documents from us so we'd have to go home to get those sent over. He told us that he had off the next day, but will "make it work for us". We actually sent the papers over to him that same night so we were hoping he'd forward it to the finance person to get everything taken care of while he was out. We waited the next day, no update. No big deal because we knew he had off, but then we tried contacting him the day after, and still nothing. We did our due diligence and reached out to the finance department ourselves. We sent Patrick (incredible finance guy) our paperwork and VOILA, we were all good to go- thank you, Patrick! We went in the 3rd day to pick up our car and while we waited for the license plates, I noticed the car was still dirty because I found bird poop on the hood. I asked Gordy if they were going to give it a car wash, but all he said was "No, it's too cold" First of all, it was not even cold and second, he had 2 days to give it a wash if anything! When we drove off, not only was it dirty, he didn't even fill the gas tank, knowing we had to drive 40 mins back home. I don't expect to be treated like royalty, but we did majority of the work while he earned commissions off us! Come on now!! I'll never come back again. read more

If you use resources like NADA & KBB you are not welcome. We used NADA & KBB to put forth a price and were fully willing to negotiate on price(no it was not a low ball price). NADA priced the vehicle at 2,000 below their asking price and KBB priced it at a 1,00 below along with CarFax listing the vehicle at Fair Price(maybe CarFax isn't reliable?). In addition, these resources are pretty thorough considering most banks use these pricing tools when considering loans(I know this because I have family members that work at dealership in the finance area - so I didn't pull this information out of nowhere). When we put forth our price we were told that we did not include all the features when doing our price check, however, I assure you we checked everything you possibly could and even put a lower mileage in. Which was then met with the comment that all their prices are Net Prices and they don't negotiate and that the price we offered is what they had into it, which is funny because that means you left yourself a $1,500 profit margin - yes I know accounting jargon as well. We were also told that they would sell the vehicle just fine at the asking price and they could possibly knock off a couple hundred if we didn't want the vehicle cleaned. We should have seen this coming as the salesperson was just as irritated when we were testing driving and were making sure that all the features worked including the 4x4, sorry, but that's being a smart consumer. I'm not going to wait until there's X amount of snow on the ground before I try the 4x4. In fact the words were 'Well when we safety we make sure everything works'. In today's world being a smart consumer should not be met with sarcasm. I also didn't know being ready to write a check on the spot meant that we were 'less than' because it wasn't full ask.
