since both my kids and now my nephew are BMX ers...they spend the majority of their week at either this track or cactus park in lakeside. I have made a couple trips to both and this is by far my preference (the kids like the other track better). why do i like this park? a great deal closer to home K sandwiches just around the corner.. i get the tell my kids the story of the stolen tank every time we pass the armory. parking is easier and closer same people run both same people riding at both i have never taken advantage of their snack bar...but i should. workers seem to genuinely care about all the kids here... great family atmosphere.. happy that my kids have found a sport that they love to do read more

For about a year I have been trying to talk my son into going to the Kearny Mesa BMX track with me. He finally agreed, so I checked their website a couple times this week, saw the big banner in the middle of the page that reads "Updated schedule Starting 3/11/2018. Practice starts at 11:00 on Sundays". Canceled all our other plans, spent an hour loading up the Jeep, and drove thirty five minutes to get there. Waited by the gate with two other Father and sons that were there for the first time, but nobody showed. One of the other guys was able to reach someone that told him practice is at 4:00 today, they updated the website at 11:00 PM last night. So I just got home, will unload the Jeep, after an hour of packing and preparing, almost an hour and a half of driving, and completely rescheduling our day, and most likely consider my son and I's BMX careers over, before they even got to start. read more

We went here Friday night not knowing what to expect? well much to our surprise this park is very open to the newcomers and beginners of all ages. My son who is 6 was just going to putt around the the track during practice session which is Wed. & Fri. from 5:30 - 7 p.m. Well he enjoyed it so much that we entered him in to a race. A very nice gentleman Doug who works at the track was kind enough to lend my son a bigger bike, noticing that the one he had was way too small. they also rent out full face helmets. My son crashed pretty bad in his first race but got up after a min. and kept riding the crowd cheered him on as he finished the race, this was nice and so were all the families and workers in attendance. This is a great way to spend family time on a Friday night.The Snack bar is cool and they have had home made tacos that night and refreshments for the riders. Even though he came in last place... they gave him a little trophy and everyone went home a winner . read more

This place is so cool!!!!!!!!!! It is a BMX track. They welcome from little kids to big ones. They rent bikes and helmets. It was so much fun to see my little 6 year old nephew compete I kept yelling keep pedaling keep pedaling. They have a little snack bar kind of expensive but convenient. I must say that I am very impressed with everyone that works here. They are super friendly and will be glad to help you learn about the bmx sport. I first learned about this place after attending a birhday party. They rent out the track in 2.5 hour sessions for parties and such. Well my son had such a blast that he kept begging me to take him back to start racing. We went down on a Sunday and the owner Vince helped us with all the paper work to get our ABA membership and answered all our questions. All the families there are super cool and make you feel really welcome. This really is a family sport. Anyone can race from 4 years old and up to very late adult hood. If you don't want to race and just want to ride the track it's about 10 bucks and a few bucks to rent a full face helmet. All and all it's a great time and worth checking out. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place! We have been coming here for nearly 2 yrs. (my son is 8 yrs. old now) and the staff here is so accommodating and kind. No bad attitudes, very family oriented type of a place. The environment is very healthy for your young and super active kids! One of those old fashion places, without excessive restrictions. As long as kids are safe and everybody uses common sense nobody bothers u. Attended an am bday party. It was great for kids and parents. Owners/workers are nice and friendly. I have two suggestions for improvement: first impression is that everything is old, some esthetic maintenance, like paint around and replacing rotten/termite eaten planks would make it look much nicer and more apealing. Second, there are no head-socks for use under the rental helmets. Inside of the helmets gets soaking wet. This can't be the best hygiene practice. read more

Owners are super nice, love the sport, and sincerely want the kids to get involved. Open track days are great and everyone is super-patient with the little ones. Best place for parties too- kids get worn out riding for 2.5 hrs and you don't have to sell a kidney to rent the track (especially if you get the $5 pizzas at the shop up the road). read more

Soooo much fun!!!! My nephew had his birthday party here. It's bring your own bike, then you ride and ride and ride and ride... 20 10-12 year old boys and girls couldn't get enough. We MADE them come off the track for pizza, drinks and birthday cake, but they couldn't wait to get back on the track. The price is very reasonable, the staff is friendly and helpful. This sketchy outfit broke my 7 year-old's heart on his birthday. I scheduled a birthday party here for my 7 year-old a couple weeks in advance and confirmed it the week before. This was tough to do, as these people rarely answer the phone. I had to actually drive to the facility a couple of times to set this up. Should have been a clue. It rained the Friday before our date, but luckily we had a beautiful sunny Saturday for the party. I called at about 9 the morning of the party to make sure the track was OK after the rain the day before. The owner returned my call at about 10:30 and confirmed that the track was in good shape for our party, and that her son would be handling the party. I learned the owner had also confirmed the party to a couple of our guests that morning. However, we arrived a little before 1:00 to find the gate locked, and no one at the track. By this time our guests had started to arrive. I called again to find out what was going on and had to leave a message. Did these dodgy losers call back to explain that they had been delayed by traffic/family emergency/general screwup?? Nope. The next time I called the phone was off the hook. What spineless jerks!! They never showed up and never called to apologize for their overall incompetence, or for ruining a little kid's birthday. The takeaways: 1. This outfit and its operators are exactly as flaky as they seem. 2. Make your party plans elsewhere if you want to actually have a party - these yahoos cannot be trusted with a kid's birthday 3. The operators' overall unreliability and irresponsibility should call into question their competence to deal with other issues: the safety of this "facility" and equipment, the people who are working there, etc. read more

I am a Dad of two boys 6 & 2 years old, both or which are active BMXers. I am pretty heavy into road cycling at this stage of my life but I use to live and breath BMX when I was a kid ( some 30 years ago). Three years ago when my oldest son was invited to Kearny Mesa BMX for a private Birthday Party I jumped at the opportunity to see how the sport had evolved. Since that time, Kearny BMX has become one of my families favorite past times and our "home track". Over the last 3 years my oldest son has amassed 60+ trophies 3 different bikes, and has been BMX clinics, and half a dozen birthday parties at this track. We have traveled to many different BMX tracks in SoCal and over a handful of states and Kearny Mesa (and Cactus) are by far our favorites. The Family that runs these two tracks are just great people. They are more then willing to help teach the joys of BMX to 3 year old beginners as well as the future Olympians that ride at Kearny. These people are truly "Ambassadors" of BMX and it really shows when you go to other tracks and see what years of experience and know how brings. From the awesome Parade lap that happen before the races start- that feature kids riding with US flags to the National Anthem to the KILLER homemade cooking that is sold for little above cost, this place is great fun for the whole family. Spectators are free of charge so bring the grandparents and neighbor kids and a camera. If you are looking for a way better alternative to Chucky-Cheese for a kids Bday party, this is the best bang for your buck. The website and Facebook page are always current with race / practice times. If you ever rode BMX as a "kid" its still a blast but don't take my word for it. read more

My kids and I have been going to this BMX track for 15 months and it is very awesome. They love it and just want to ride for hours. This is the only thing they do that gives them exercise and they never complani about being tired. Vince and Linda, the owners are great and this place is very family oriented. The snack bar has excellent food and it is homemade and very reasonable. My son had his birthday party there and all the kids had a great time. I would highly recommend this place for kids and adults also. read more

what can I say I was kid when me and my friends stumbled onto this place we lived in the neighborhoods over near Kearny high we could never afford to race in are youth but we always came out for fun just to watch others and I have to say it was fun atmosphere we used to like watching Jake McCurdy back when he was coming up I hear he is a coach at the track now anyway after being away from the park for so long I recently moved back and was looking forward to seeing the new blood racing as I cannot afford to race nor am I strong enough anymore but maybe tonight you guys will put on a good show and take me back to when my only bike was a store bought magna I rode all thru till high school and it was stolen and recovered 8 times and still ran good with some oil on the chain and gears and sprockets and crank assembly I don't ride a BMX anymore those days are way be hind me as I'm more of a old man now with age but I hope you wont hold my fixed gear bike against me it has style if I show up read more
