This review is very much overdue. Dr. Ashburn was my daughter's PCP for many years, until unfortunately we ended up having to switch to Kaiser. I will say, I never thought we would have needed to see him for anything other than well exams, which my daughter actually looked forward to. He was always sweet and kind and made physical exams a breeze. I am forever thankful to him and his staff for those pleasant visits, where even "shots" were joyful. My true appreciation comes from when my daughter started having GI issues. I was so scared he would brush off my concerns, mostly based off of negative reviews I've read here, but also, based off of personal experiences I have had with other healthcare offices and working in the healthcare industry. Dr. Ashburn was the exact opposite of everything I feared. He showed true concern, validated my concerns, sent out the proper referrals and testing, and stayed in touch every step of the way. Dr. Ashburn is by far the best pediatrician!!! My grandson is seven he is the only pediatrician he has ever been to or ever needed to go to. The office is clean, the staff is efficient and the doctor is the sweetest most knowledgeable physician and I have two of my own and I wish I would have had such a great pediatrician when they were kids. He speaks to my grandson and includes him in the conversation, lets him ask questions, which I think it's wonderful to have him involved in is own care. The visits are quick but not too quick, they are thorough, he speaks clearly and uses clinical terminology but then makes sure to explain it. I took my newborn to Dr. Keith Ashburn for his 2 month appointment after having a bad experience with our previous pediatrician. He was absolutely amazing and made me feel so at ease. As a first time parent, it's extremely nerve wracking finding your baby a reputable doctor. After weeks of google searching, I decided on Keith and I couldn't be more happy that I did. I'm currently still waiting for the non existent manager to call me back since yesterday in the morning (12/01/2021). I made an appointment for my niece to get her immunizations up to date. Unfortunately we are in a situation where she needed to get her physical done elsewhere per cps . We tried making an appointment with the location where she was seen and they told us she had to go to her PCP for the rest of the immunizations. The appointment was made a month ago. Before hanging up the phone the situation was explained to the medical assistant. She did not provide any information as to what was needed or if it was possible to get her vaccinated. The appointment was set up. Now I am also a medical assistant/ assistant manager in an urgent care that also has a pediatric department. If the children that come into our facility belong to us we give them their shots and update the CAIR system and the yellow cards. No ifs,ands,or buts, they are our children under our care and it's our responsibility to make sure they are up to date on everything. We went into our appointment to be told we couldn't get my niece vaccinated because " the Dr didn't perform her physical so she has to go back where she came from". That they need to be ordered by her physician.. well... Dr. Keith Ashburn is her physician. I've even double checked through the insurance portal. My niece belongs to that office. Once again I quickly explained the situation to the medical assistant and that the case worker needs her to be updated with her vaccines ASAP and all she could say is" I'm sorry, you have to remake an appointment so he can order them". Well we already had an appointment, why couldn't the provider see her then and order them? Why couldn't they call the location that performed the physical to confirm? Does the provider think we are trying to cut corners? Now I don't blame the medical assistant. We have to do what we are told. But I would like someone in management explain a little more what their policies are and as to why knowing the situation they didn't bother to call and get medical records of her physical? Why did they turn away my niece when she is under their care under their plan? Why didn't they look more into the situation before giving us the run around? Again a whole month passed by . Their responsibility to be on to of their patients. Also they never ever updated her immunizations on CAIR since she's belonged there. I had to ask the nurses who performed her physical to update it. It is important! A clinic like Dr. Ashburn's should be on top of it! And they have failed us a bit. I'll continue to wait for the manager to call me back. I also plan on calling the health plan and placing a grievance if nothing is done. I understand every clinic has a policy, but this was ridiculous. read more

No idea why this guy has such great reviews. Maybe he just didn't like me or my kids. I found him to be aloof and dismissive. At one point he even became annoyed with me for requesting a referral to a specialist, who has since done wonders for my daughter. I also find the office staff to be slow to respond, if at all. They are quick to have me do a lot of running around to get answers that they could have given me originally (Like having me call the pharmacy to see if a scrip has a refill instead of just looking it up for me). He was the only doctor I have seen there I changed my insurance to become a patient of his. Lesson learned. Every one else likes him...so it could be just me, but I cant recommend him. read more

We love Dr. Ashburn. My son just started seeing him a few months back and we are very happy with the level of service he provides. He takes his time when he comes in to see us, and sits down and actually listens to what I have to say. As a Mom this is huge! I never feel rushed or feel like I'm asking ridiculous questions. He's very patient, calm, and down to earth. He has called me personally to go over my sons medication and made adjustments as needed with the pharmacy. I am EXTREMELY surprised with all the 5 star reviews for Dr. Ashburn. My son was born at St. Joseph, and he was appointed to be my son's pediatrician within the Post-Partum floor. I kept taking my son to him, until shortly after his first birthday. My son started getting really sick. My son kept getting fevers of over 102.0 degrees, would vomit incessantly, and was losing weight and becoming lethargic, with shortness of breath. I kept hearing the same song and dance: he's just got a common cold virus. This went on for about 2 months, until I asked him to send me to a Pediatrics GI doctor. He got EXTREMELY angry, told me that he was giving me the referral, and left me in the room without concluding his consultation, my son still naked on his diaper. I asked the nurse if he was coming back, she saw him leave so abruptly, she said yes. After about 5 minutes she came back to tell me: get your son dressed, the consult has concluded. He did indeed refer me to an Pediatric GI doctor, but not before writing him A LETTER saying I was a "picky" mother!!! The GI Dr., completely predisposed negatively about me, just prescribed a YEAR of ranitidine for my son and sent us on our way, without pertinent tests or anything else. Finally, my husband's work insurance came through, and we got a PPO. We went to a new pediatrician, who in turn referred us to a different pediatric GI MD who conducted a series of blood tests, to finally find out that the so-called "virus" Dr. Ashburn had said was a complex food allergy to most of the food we were giving him. His diet changed after that, and my son finally got better, started to gain weight again, and his fevers and vomiting finally ceased. Dr. Ashburn's petulance and ego did not let him see past his misdiagnosis, and we were slowly killing our son due to his stubborn nature. I would not advise ANY PARENT to bring their child to Dr. Ashburn. He should, in fact, not be allowed to have a license. His sense of compassion and good practice are completely out the door. read more

Dr Ashburn, you are a fiver! We came over from Dr. Behzad Behmanesh in Valley Village. HE IS A WITCH DOCTOR! That place was the worst and I don't recommend it to anyone, even the people I don't like. Dr Ashburn was like an angel when he examined our girls. I love this guy and know I won't have any hesitations about taking my girls in for check ups. The lobby and examination rooms are very child friendly and the staff is very catering to children (as a pediatrician should be so take notes Dr Behmanesh!). The staff is very friendly and have the patience you will need when signing in with excited and loud kids! His personality and attitude are right on and he was a hit with the kids. They even got a shot and didn't have any kid drama because they were so relaxed. He asked questions and was actually interested in children (take notes Dr Behmanesh!). It's nice to actually have an intelligent conversation with our doctor! Dr Ashburn is a refreshing upgrade from Dr Behmanesh. I know feel that our children are in the hands of a gentle, caring and professional doctor. My wife and I are so happy that we changed over to Dr. Ashburn. Today was the first time visit dr. Ashburn, but from the moment I called the office I knew my experience would be awesome because everyone was so sweet. Let me tell you amazing sweet doctor. Do not look for a different doctor for your child. He was amazing with my daughter. Even thought it was new for her and she was crying a little, doctor was trying to make her feel happy. Parking is very close by and free. You just cross a very small street it is right next to the office. Let me start out by saying very professional and safe. We waited outside for about two minutes and they let us in due to Covid. The nurse asked which room my daughter wanted and he took her to the butterfly room, which was so cute. The nurse was very sweet. He checked her weight, height, then he gave her a shot. My daughter cried for only second only, which does not happen else where. The doctor came in sat down took his time to talk to us and asked me if I had any questions. The nurse was so nice he gave my daughter a peppa big toothbrush which she was so happy about. Let me tell you I have never waited this little at a doctors office. My previous office was about two hours even during Covid. The office was very clean and organized. Took like 15 minutes all in all and for a working mom that is the best. Amazing experience. If there was 10 starts I would give 10. Both my boys see Dr Ashburn, and I can not say enough positive things about this amazing doctor. He is so kind and caring and my whole family just adores him. I came to see Dr Ashburn after having my youngest son, because the previous referred to doctor was a complete bi@ch and even refused to check my baby's penis after having been circumcised. I have two kids and switched to Dr. Ashburn because I have HMO. Well I wasn't expecting a lot because my experience of Drs that take HMO is horrible, rude staff, dirty office, list goes on. DR. Ashburn is AWESOME, he remembers my kids name everytime. He goes the extra mile, when my daughter was an infant, eveytime he spoke (he has a very deep barry white voice), she would just start crying, so to appease her, he tried to speak in a high pitch voice, it worked!!! I mentioned this article about numbing cream and shots, while he didn't this it was necessary, he prescribed the cream anyway, made me feel better. His staff is extremely courteous! I took my 2.5 year old twins (boy&girl) to Dr Ashburn for the first time today, and I can say that I've finally found our family pediatrician! I was able to get the applications a few weeks ago, filled those in at home and took with me for the appointment. The waiting room is clean and neat, it has enough chairs for adults, little chairs and tables for kids, there is also a fish tank with colorful fishes. The wait was minimal - 5 or 10min, which is much appreciated! My son's connection with Dr Ashburn was immediate and to my great surprise he was doing everything that doctor was telling him to do. So that was a huge plus. My daughter was not much cooperative unlike her brother, I would probably have to say she was not cooperating whatsoever, yet the doctor found some ways to check her vitals. I would say for those parents who look for quality and fast services, this is the place. The only drawback for me was the parking - you can park on the street if you find a spot, or you have to park at a parking structure across the street (free), walk out from that structure, cross a small residential street and walk towards the medical building. If I were alone with the twins, the walk would have been quite difficult, but my mom came with us, so we managed it all. read more
