I had gone to another dentist and had a large bill handed to me at the end of the visit due to a suggested root canal. Without dental insurance it was going to be quite a lot of money out of pocket, so looking for a second opinion I came to Keith Silverman. We talked it through and the general idea was I had a cavity close to the root, and while a root canal was likely he didn't know for sure if I needed it. So we decided to fill the cavity, and then wait and see if I ended up needing the root canal. As of now I still haven't had it. The visit here saved me a lot of money, but more importantly, it offered me a chance to really sit and talk things through with the dentist. He was easily in a position to simply tell me to get the root canal, but instead gave me options. I will definitely be returning for all my future dental needs. Everyone on staff was extremely helpful and kind, and Keith is a dentist I know I can trust. I should also note that because the cavity filling was really close to the root of the tooth, it was also a very challenging procedure, and Keith pulled it off perfectly. I don't normally write reviews but I felt the desire to write one for their services because it was such a great experience overall....I went for the first time yesterday because I was looking for a new local dentist and had found Dr. Silverman just through a google search and I'm so happy I went. This dentist is okay if you know EXACTLY what you need (for example, you have a filling and you need him to fill that exact same filling). I came here because of a chip in my front tooth that needed fixing immediately. He did this almost perfectly. I came back for a routine cleanup and was told that I had 5+ cavities that needed filling. That's more fillings than I have had total in my entire life of routine checkups with the dentist. Happened to go to my old ortho, who seemed confused that I needed any fillings. I wanted a second opinion from my old dentist (out of state) but ran out of time and thought it was okay to get at least the one filling that had fallen out filled. Ended up with four fillings, with the advice that if I had not done it, it would have turned into a root canal, and that I needed the other cavities filled ASAP. The work that he DID do has been hurting for the past week; my teeth did not hurt before the work was done. Freaked out, sent X-rays and pictures to my old dentist, FLEW (by airplane) to his office to get it re-checked out. The fillings that have already happened are what they are; some things are not in my control. I went to him because I had an emergency and the yelp reviews were good, I went back again because I thought I was imagining my feelings the first time, but the second and third time turned out much worse. Just keep this in mind when you go. I assume he is a really superb dentist for all the ones who have given him good ratings and do not doubt the work that he does is great for those individuals. read more

I cannot say enough about how wonderful this office was with my son and I yesterday. After having a nightmarish experience at a reputable teaching college in the city and walking out (almost running out) of the appointment, I found myself standing on the corner, with my 6 year old in tooth pain and rattled from his awful experience. Desperate, I googled - great pediatric dentist UWS - and Dr. Silverman's office popped up with many stars. Skeptically, I called and asked what they charged for a child's crown. Lisa, the incredible office manager, detecting the urgency in my voice, said - why don't you come up and let us have a look at your son. Even more reticent after having many lousy experiences that begin like this, I explained I didn't want to waste anyone's time. Lisa took the time to talk me off the ledge and convince me that the doctor is incredible at what he does and very ethical and fair. We'd figure it out. Convinced, I headed to the office and it was the best 'go with my gut' experience I've had in ages. This office went over and above the call of duty for my son and I. Turned out my son didn't even need the crown (nor the FIVE fillings) they were going to impose on him/us at the world renown teaching facility. Craziness. Regarding payment, we did "figure it out", very fairly. Recap - Lisa was welcoming and genuinely caring - she even called today to follow up and make sure my son was out of pain (which he is & even received a boost of esteem from the doc being so complimentary of his bravery). And Dr. Silverman not only a master at his craft, but wonderfully charming and put my son and I at such ease. I highly recommend this office and look forward to my own check up in the very near future. They've won over our entire family for sure. read more

Ok. I don't take time to write reviews but I HAVE to for Dr. Silverman because he's the best dentist I've ever had. I've been going to a dentist downtown for years but wanted a change. I was used to going in for check ups and cleanings but was never really happy with my teeth. Dr Silverman completely transformed my teeth and for the first time in years I can smile with pride. They overcharged almost $500. I had small fillings there. I thought just filling may not cost too much money but they charged a lot. I asked front desk lady if the price was correct or not but she said it was the way it was. After I came back from the dentist, I talked with other people, and realized that even if it was expensive place, it could not be that much. I sent e-mail to them to ask about money but they ignored. I called them but it didn't help. So, I had to go back to their office to get invoice. I found several strange things on the document. Obviously, they made multiple mistakes, and overcharged almost $500. While the front desk lady was calculating again, she just did it on the paper... and did not look very accurate or professional. I have to tell you that you have to be careful to go to this dentist. I was wondering how many people were overcharged without noticing. In addition, even without a mistake, this place is more expensive than other dentist. When I checked invoice, I noticed that they tried to charge as much as they could. The doctor noticed that I was arguing with front desk lady about mistake but it seemed that he didn't care what was going on. I wouldn't trust that kind of dentist. read more

For most of my life just the thought of going to the dentist was enough to send me into an anxiety attack. Then one of my co-workers recommended Dr. Silverman and my life has changed! I first visited him after my old dentist had totally screwed up replacing an old filling of mine. After much pain and months of back and forth with that old dentist, I finally went to Dr. Silverman who immediately identified the problem and fixed it easily. That was 2 years ago and I have been going to him ever since. Dr. Silverman is extremely kind and gentle. He always tells you exactly what he is doing which is nice. Dr. Silverman was one of the best dentists I have seen. I came in with a chipped tooth that I got at a restaurant that was causing me pain. It wasn't that bad, but given a previous experience that ended in a root canal, I wanted to be proactive. The receptionist was able to squeeze me in for an emergency appointment the next day. Dr. Silverman examined my tooth, found a small chip, and applied a small bonding. He explained exactly what happened to my tooth, explained my options, and helped me decide on doing minimal treatment (it was nice to not get up-sold to a more costly/involved procedure). I have to put another review up, it's been a whole week since Dr. Silverman saved me! I had a really bad infection that caused me to visit the emergency room while away on vacation, As soon as I emailed his office (it was a Sunday so I figured nobody would be in the office) and I received a response right away! Lisa (front desk) told me to get to their office first thing in the morning---keep in mind the next day was Columbus Day so I thought once again they would be closed---I got to their office the very next day in tears because of the severe pain. Dr. Silverman immediately got to work, I had 3 teeth pulled and felt not one ounce of pain!!! not one! he even had a fan brought into the room because I was sweating during the procedure (lol) . When I got home I didn't even have to take any of the pain meds he prescribed I simply took 2 Aleve and went to sleep. During the week I felt slight pressure but that's to be expected I had 3 teeth pulled at once!!!! I know people who have one tooth pulled and still experience the pain days and weeks after!---not me! :-) So it's been a week, I'm back to eating regular meals, ice chips and even was able to have a margarita! He must be nice, because the cleanings are the gentlest I have ever had - no exaggeration. Just moved to NYC and needed a new, local dentist. I called and made an appt. for myself and my daughter. I received an email and filled out all the registration forms about a week before the appt. When I arrived, the staff was nice and I did not have to wait at all. I was handed registration forms to fill out which I told the receptionist I had already filled out and emailed back a week ago. She looked and found them and told me I was all set. I had a brief exam by the doctor who was already making some suggestions on cosmetic options that were completely unnecessary. I then had X-rays and a cleaning. The cleaning was probably the worst cleaning I ever had. The equipment was old and the water pick sprayed everywhere. I never had a cleaning where my whole face got wet. When I was finished, to my surprise, I was informed they did not take my insurance! Shouldn't I have been informed of this prior to anything being done? The receptionist told me they would give me a "deal" of $200 for the cleaning! I did pay it but am now very upset that I did. I always paid a $5 copay for my cleanings. What is done is done but want to warn others of my stupid mistake of going here. read more
