I highly recommend Mike and the Keith Thompson and Son (KT&S) team. I have had to utilize my home warranty over the last few years for repair and requested KT&S for HVAC repair whenever possible. They initially came in after another HVAC company completely unwired my heat pump and stated they could not repair. So I requested a new service contractor and it was assigned to Mike from KT&S. He was amazing. He fixed the issue and remained professional the entire time. He took the time to educate us as homeowners what the issue was and how we addressed it. A couple of years later we had another issue and again, used my warranty company, who assigned a contractor who never called me, after repeated contact attempts. I resubmitted a request for KT&S and they quickly contacted me and was out to see me the same day. Again, Mike was great and issue resolved. Well, we had another issue recently where it was a warm day in Chesapeake, VA where we used our AC and had a problem. Again, we submitted a claim through our warranty company and they assigned the work to the same company who failed to respond to my previous claim. I had indicated in my claim submission I preferred KT&S since they were familiar with my home and I was familiar with their service. When I resubmitted my claim due to lack of contact by the assigned contractor, the warranty company reviewed my submission and assigned it to KT&S. Within two hours, I was contacted by KT&S and they were out that afternoon. Mike was the assigned tech and was able to fix the issue within 15 minutes. With a warm weekend expected, I am once again thankful for Mike and the KT&S team. I appreciate how Mike treats my family during his visits and would recommend the KT&S team for all of your HVAC needs. read more

We have an old A/C system that required a freon charge every year or two to keep running. Our home warranty company dispatched from Keith Thompson for our maintenance this year. First technician broke our compressor coil - system turned on just fine when we tested it, they flushed it with something and told us to wait an hour before turning it on, we waited two, and the thing crapped out. Their second tech told us the same thing, bad compressor, they'd have to source a replacement. Two weeks later sitting in 95+ degree heat we find out that they never filed anything with our warranty service and we are stuck starting from square one. KT&S has been ghosting our calls for the last week. Thanks for breaking our compressor and running to the bank with our fee, Keith. Very "professional." Steer clear of these clowns. No sense of responsibility or professionalism, or even basic honesty. read more

Horrible service if I could put no stars I would. They came out 4 times and it's still 87 degrees in my house one time they turned off my service line to burn up my compressor and we had to get a new one. I've worked with them for my HVAC unit, every time one piece would get replaced another word break. They were great about keeping me updated and got back to me quickly when I would call for updates. In April my home warranty company dispatched this company to come fix my A/C unit. They discovered it was a evaporator coil that needed replacing. They ordered the part when it came in and they returned to install it they said they couldn't get it in the attic and we would need to get someone to take the attic stairs off so they could get the part up in the attic to replace. They recharged our unit which was only a temporary fix because our air is no longer working after the charge and it's been over 100 degree heat indexes here in Virginia. When we called up to the office the nasty rude lady who answers the phones and makes the appointments says we're not contractors. Well yes we know that but you were hired to do a job you are the ones who ordered a part that couldn't fit but yet you expect us to pay a contractor upwards of 500 dollars to remove and replace attic stairs. They could have just as easily disassembled the part so it could fit up the attic then reassembled and installed it fixing my air conditioning unit. But here we are 3-4 months later and we are still trying to figure out how to get our A/C unit fixed. I've spoken with several other HVAC companies just to see if this is normal business practices and they were shocked that this company placed such a burden on us the customer. When they could have disassembled the part to get it up the attic. My husband and I are both in the military and we were both out on detachment. I have just recently returned and the person I got to take the attic stairs off could not do it so now we are back to finding an actual contractor to do it which is costly. The purpose of having a home warranty is to avoid costly repairs, but when they do business with janky companies like Keith Thompson and son heating and cooling it defeats the purpose. I have 2 children and 2 dogs in a hot house simply because this company ordered a part that was to big and then left us with the burden of figuring out how to get it in the attic instead of just disassembling the part and getting it up in the attic then reassembling and installing. read more

My warranty company sent Keith Thompson and sons to us in July because our unit was blowing hot air. After 3 visits the owner, Mike came to my house (some time in August) and bypassed a bad relay and said he would be back with the part we needed within a week. I never heard from them. Because the unit was working I wasn't overly concerned about it. Mike came out and put the new relay in in October after I called them to schedule. We haven't used the unit again until the other day and it's blowing hot air once again. Now, in order to have them come back out I have to pay my deductible AGAIN for an issue that was NEVER fixed! Horrible way to do business! Will never recommend this company to anyone!!!!!! read more

If I could select zero stars, I would. Simple communication sure would solve a lot of problems. I submitted a claim through my home warranty company on Feb. 12th regarding an HVAC issue. Mike came out a couple days later and quickly figured out I had a bad compressor. He stated it would be about 3 weeks for the part to come in. 5 weeks later I start reaching out because I had not heard anything. First, I left a voicemail that was not returned. A couple of days later Mike answers, but he's on a job so says he'll get back to me. He does not get back to me and I have to call again, to which he says the part should be in in a couple of days. Crickets for another week. I start going back through the home warranty company to reach him about the problem. Apparently the part is in, but he has failed to successfully submit some form that is required to finish the work. He tells them he is going to try again to submit the form and will call the warranty company to verify it worked. Crickets! Now his phone, because he apparently is the entire company, will not receive calls or voicemails. So nearly three months later and my issue is still not resolved. I can deal with delays and bumps in the road. The most frustrating part is the lack of communication. It is unprofessional and terrible business. Do not use this company! read more

November 2015. May 2016. April 2017. Mike has done work on three houses for us. Reasonable prices, honest opinions (not looking to replace everything and get more money), and easy to work with. We did have a hard time getting a hold of him on his cell phone and through messages at the company main line at one point to resolve some issues. After I sent a letter to the company office they called me, gave a reasonable explanation, apologized, and offered some compensation. I declined the compensation but called them for a future job in April of 2017 and was satisfied. read more

They came highly recommended from our realtor. After a bad experience with a different company we were happy to work with them. The other company wanted to charge us for a new compressor. Our compressor is fine. The previous company put to much coolant in the system and it wouldn't work. Now for $78 it's fixed and working great. read more

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Keith Thompson and Son Heating and Cooling, came to my house in April 2017 and replaced my compressor which was only 6 years old and add Freon back to the unit. Well it is July 2017 and my air condition is blowing out HOT air again. After speaking with the woman at Keith Thompson and Son Heating and Cooling, she stated that they couldn't have done anything wrong on there visit in April and that it would be 2 more days before she could get anyone back out to my house. WRONG ANSWER!! Well, we are seniors and heat is not a good thing for us and we couldn't sit here 2 more days in a house where the temperature is 92 degrees. We had another company come out SAME day and found that the service valve cap was put on too tight by Keith Thompson and Son Heating and Cooling, that was done to slow the Freon leak down instead of fixing the problem when they were here in April. They just want to get another service fee from us if they came back out. I am sure they would have said it was something different. read more

I used Keith Thompson and son to install a 16 seer 3.5 ton dual stage system. Very knowledgeable. New thermostat did not work and they quickly read out the wires and replaced the thermostat. Took about 2.5 hours to complete the job and hauled away the old system. Would recommend them to anyone. read more

I received three quotes in 2015 for new HVAC and heat pump for our 2 story 2700 SF home. Keith was professional, and offered a Trane system and of the quotes was the MOST competitive price! The company is a RIP OFF!! They sent a "technician" out to my residence for an A/C service call, although he came on time he was completely incompetent. The so called "technician" Antonio doesn't even the know the basic of HVAC. Any technician worth his salt would know how to test for voltage drop on a shorted wire which is what he "diagnosed" as my problem. While this man was sitting confused in my attic he swapped and switched wires reversing my zone system and completely unwired my unit. He had to make multiple phone calls to his boss Mike while in my home. Their conclusion was to leave in the hopes of returning to determine the cause and fix it when he had help. At this point he didn't even want to take my money because he didn't know the exact cause, his words not mine. I insisted that I pay to be a good customer have ensure his return. After sweating to death that night I googled the wiring schematic for my Goodman system and properly retired my unit something this allegedly experienced "technician" failed to do or just couldn't. I additionally tested the wiring to the outdoor unit for a voltage drop and none was found. I repeatedly called Mike the "boss" to tell him to come out and look what I did that his employee couldn't and to refund my money. A month later still no calls no shows and one empty promise to come out. If they really stood behind their diagnosis they would be more than happy to prove me wrong but they know they didn't know what they were doing. Mike the "boss" literally told me he has no clue to about my zone controller because he only deals with Honeywell. This company will take your money for a faulty incompetent service call and leave you hanging. NEVER EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS THEY ARE INCOMPETENT, CONDESCENDING, AND MORE THAN WILLING TO SCREW YOU OVER!!! read more
