Maintenance is here do us when the pool man doesn't show up 50% of the time and the service manager doesn't care about his customers. I had to call Keith Zars to get satisfaction and he, not the service manger who does not tell the truth to his customers and say the guy is coming and he doesn't. Not once but many times. Did Keith make it right yes he did but why should I pay $220 a month and get no service. Additionally, who will remain nameless with a fear of retaliation promised that he would send a guy when we came home from a long trip and the pool was a disaster he said he would send him that afternoon or the next day. That was Monday it was Thursday and he never showed and I never got a call to see if I did. That when I called Keith Zars but he is never available until I insisted. Zars pools may build great pools but their maintenance is terrible. Saying your sorry once or twice about bad service is ok but every other time pisses one off to make a transaction litigious at best. I had to threaten them to change their service guy who also lied about coming. Who wants to do business with them. They are on notice and if their is retaliation against me or my pool man does not show up without a good explanation I will continue to Yelp them get a new service company and let my real estate agents never to recommend Zars pools as a reputable company. There are plenty of service companies in San Antonio who are better and I really don't care what I spend but who wants to feel ripped off. Not me or I hope you. read more

We bought a Keith Zars pool 10 years ago mainly because of their great reputation for maintenance. The pool is well built, and we have had few problems with it. The service department was always very quick to respond. Up until about 2 years ago I would have given them 5 stars. They deserved the reputation they had for great customer service. What used to take 2-3 days for a service response now runs 3 weeks or more. The service request form on their website does not acknowledge or confirm receipt so you have to assume they received it. My last request they did not. No one calls you to confirm or gives you any estimate of time when they will provide service. You're kind of just hanging out there hoping someone will show up. My last request took 4 weeks for them to respond. After 2 weeks of not hearing from anyone, I complained to a salesman trying to sell a pool to a friend. That's when I found out my request thru their website for service either did not go thru or they did not add it to their list. They finally showed up after 4 weeks but they had also mailed me my annual maintenance renewal for $1400 which, of course, they want paid timely. Some of my requests have been to just drop off or mail what I needed, but no luck. They ignore the request. I've also been on their list for weekly maintenance for a year. Still waiting to hear from someone on that. If you're thinking of buying a Keith Zars Pool and they try to sell you on their great service...don't believe it! It's not good anymore. I think the problem is they are building many more pools than they have people to service them, both service techs and office staff, and won't correct the problem. They know they can't take care of their long time customers but continue building as many pools as possible creating more customers to disappoint. So, if the maintenance is part of your decision making, do not be deceived by anything the salesman tells you; expect long waits, and do not go thru their website for service. Well let me start with this company sounds like they only sell to the rich .. I called in to say I had 60000 cash to make a pool but wanted to keep my budget around 50,000 and right out of his words the sales guy , said their pools started at 55000( base) with only just the pool he did not offer to make a deal or work it out or lets see what we can do let me look at your property or anything it was basically you cant afford us ,,,,, The carzy part is that i would have paid up to 60000 if they had a good attitude and good sales pitch and training , I have talk to many pool companies and they all offer to work out a deal and see what they can do this guy went staright to the we cant do any discounts or anything .... maybe they have to much sales they dont need my $$$ going now just to close a deal on cody pools now ! read more

We are on our second Keith Zars pool. They are a good pool company but used to be great. Unfortunately, their warranty repair services are less than acceptable. We have been waiting for over three weeks for repairs. I think they have not kept up with demands for service instead seem to be focused on new builds. read more

This company is totally not worth dealing with. I pay $1470 a year for a maintenance plan and have now been waiting over 7 weeks for someone to come out and fix a problem one of their technicians created. I have also been waiting over 2 months for a faulty pool light to be replaced only to be told they are on back order. Keith Zars himself keeps raising prices while continuing to disappoint for any and all maintenance issues. KZP claims a world class warranty, but in reality it is not. My concrete patio that they poured has already cracked along with the flagstone after 18 months. KZP pours thousands of yards of concrete a year and shocked that they don't stand behind their concrete work for more than 1 year. My property is built on the North side of San Antonio and there is no settling since it is built on top of solid rock. They sell the extended service plan, but this should be covered under their standard warranty. I have learned over the years, no matter how the warranty is written, it is only as good as the company itself. Paying such a high premium compared to their competitors, I now realize wasn't worth it. read more

I have a hot tub that we have been able to use about 5 times since it was installed. I'm always waiting on a repair or part. I called today for an update and was told they will try to find out when they will be out. You can't blame Covid for the hot tub not working the day after you repair it. This company is not what it used to be. I would never use them again. read more

Terrible company for service and maintenance. We have had a Keith Zars Pool for over 20 years along with the Lifestyle Protection Plan that costs about $1500 per year. The service at Keith Zars Pool has gone down dramatically over the past few years. I would rate it very poor. It takes MONTHS for someone to come and fix a problem, even though they keep saying someone will come next week, etc. We have a weekly cleaning contract with them but there have been quite a few times when someone never came out. I pay $239 per month for pool cleaning and I have to do it myself! I would caution against building a pool with this company. read more

I had my pool built by them and have been using their service for the last 8 years. The serving has been going downhill. Last week I scheduled two basic service, change out pool light and breakdown of pool filter, both could have been done in less than 1.5 hours. The technician refused to change bulb and only did filter. So I contacted them, and no explanation given, so they sent me another tech, and charged me for a two hour service call, after I already paid for the one hour. I got charged $330 for a light bulb change and DE filter cleaning in total. Completely outrageous! Do not use them if you value your money and time. There are better pool companies. I will never use them again!! read more

They serviced our neighbors pool on a hot Texas day, no rain for days, maybe a week before. My yard ends up flooded. Neighbor tells me per text, they drained water out of the pool today as part of the service. Pool company Manager states they didn't drain water and they didn't cause the flooding in my yard. Suggests I hire a plumber to look at it. Water came from the other side of the fence. Well done. read more

I would like to update my review of Keith Zars Pools. A lot of progress has been made with the stone work, grout, and decking since I posted the above review. I had several conversations with Keith personally along with his team and after a visit from Keith himself, things started getting done. I will say, I had to exhaust much more time and effort to call and send emails than someone should need to get results. Now, as for the cleaning service, I have not went back to them due to what I stated..."pay $47.50/week for 10-12 minutes of service". read more

We called Keith Zars Pools about putting a fence around our swimming pool. They sent someone over... my wife came out to open the solar-powered gate but forgot the key. I was on the phone with her and heard her say, "Please wait here, I just need to get the key." I heard him say something (muffled) and then my wife said, "Please don't do that!" He took a hammer and banged on the release pin. Bending the housing! Gate broken! We ended up not going with Keith Zars for the project but asked them to pay the $125 for the part and the $185 for the labor. My wife called them today and they said if we are not using them for the project that they refuse to repay. "Go ahead and get a lawyer," they told her! I was on the phone with her at the time when the guy broke the gate. They lied to her when she called saying she'd invited him in. NOT TRUE! She said "Please wait, my husband is on the phone and he said I need to key" (gate was malfunctioning and when it does that you need the key to open the main utility box). I hope this review saves you from getting involved with these unscrupulous liars. AVOID Keith Zars! read more

For the most part, a very good quality product, but there have been problems getting what I was promised after I made last payment. Brought up shortfalls to Keith Zars, but still have not gotten it resolved. I have been very patient given the pandemic, but communication has been horrendous. We are in the process of finding a pool builder. So far we have had one other contractor besides Keith Zar Pools come out. After calling and setting up an appointment with KZP, the rep then called the day of the appointment, Thursday, and said he apologized but needed to reset the appointment the following week because he had already made plans to go to Corpus Christi. Although a little perturbed by the last minute call, I agreed to make it the following week. To no surprise he was 30 minutes late and apologized again. It did not go well as this young man decided that what I wanted was not what I wanted, although I have had many pools built before and my wife and I know exactly what we wanted. Needless to say, he agreed to let us have our way and agreed to get some drawings done. The following week he calls and says that he has 2 drawings completed and that he would like to make an appointment for us to come in. In trying to do so, I offered numerous days and times, but none fit his schedule. He either had a birthday to attend, someone else was coming in or he had other plans that would interfere or conflict with those times. I would guess that Keith Zars Pools has more business than they need. This is almost exactly what we went through on our last pool and do not want a repeat. There are too many other pool builders that, I am certain, offer great customer service. This is not to say they do not build a good product, but good customer service is or should be a reflection of the company and what I seek first in any major purchase. read more

Keith Zars built my pool in early 2020 and I have referred several people who have used them after seeing the beautiful pool they built for my family. As with building anything, there were a few minor issues but they stand behind their pools and have fixed ever minor issue without complaint. I have KZP clean it weekly and also pay for the yearly protection plan because I hear that it is well worth it with the high cost of pool equipment repairs. I highly recommended them and will keep referring my friends and family to KZP. read more

We contacted Keith Zars to build a pool for us. Chevis came out to give us a consult. I was very adamant about my budget being 85k. All I had on my wish list was a pool, hot tub, sun shelf and a water feature (spill over from the hot tub to the pool) and some stairs down to the pool. Simple enough. About two weeks later he contacts us to come to the office all the way off 281. We live near Medina Lake. Fine. We drive out there, he had a nice blueprint laid out, our house with a pretty pool (not overwhelming) on a big screen and tells me "it's a little over budget but look at your water feature, and that flagstone!" *rolling eyes here* I ask how much over budget and he quotes me **118k!!!! Really? 33k over budget is just a little over? So I tell him he wasted my time and I will go with a competitor who is able to get what I wanted for 85k. He then says (this is rich) "If they can do it I can do it". Further insulting my intelligence because if you can do it, then just do it! He asks if I would like him to try again using my budget. I told him that you don't go to a car dealership and tell them you have a 40k budget and they show you a 60k car. We walked out very unhappy and would never do business with Keith Zars. read more

We began looking around for pool builders in April 2019. We went to KZP first. We were placed in a room that had sales associates number of sales and goals. It was a bit awkward. We were quickly moved to the "Spurs" room and met with our designer's assistant. Apparently, our designer was filming Pool Kings, but the assistant would tell him exactly what we wanted. She scheduled an in home visit with the designer and wrote down our budget and what we wanted for our pool. The designer, Paul, came out and measured, talked to us about their company and said he would give us a quote in 7-10 days. 2 weeks went by and we heard nothing. So we called him and emailed him. He responded and scheduled a sit down to go over the plans the following week. So at this point, it was 3 weeks from when the designer came to our house until we finally received a view of the design and price. During the "reveal" our house was put up on a big screen TV with a gorgeous pool and all of the extras we wanted. He knew our budget was $100,000 and not any more. After talking up his design and playing the video for us, we ask the price. He said $127,000. What a waste of TIME! First, he gave us double the square footage of what we wanted for our patio space after we were specific on how big we wanted the patio to be. Then, he had a metal staircase for the steps to the slide, when we said we wanted a natural moss rock look. Nothing we said we wanted was incorporated into the design that was given to us. On top of that, he said it would be THREE MONTHS before excavation would begin. We asked for revisions and he said he would get back to us. In the meantime we had already shopped around and went with another pool builder. 2 weeks later (so at this point 5 weeks from meeting the designer at KZP and excavation had begun with our other pool builder) we get a revision. It STILL had the metal staircase but smaller decking. We told him no, we went with another company. At this point he tells us how sorry we would be to go with this company because only KZP could build a slide/waterfall/grotto like we wanted. But yet, they couldn't even give us a design we loved!? After hanging up, he then texted and called us back asking to give them another chance. Why wasn't he this quick to call us when he was designing our pool? Needless to say, we are VERY happy we went with Blue Haven Pools. It took 11 weeks from dig to dive and we received EVERYTHING we wanted and more with our budget. And design only took TWO DAYS to get to us. A completely different experience. KZP really has lost touch with their customers. Believe me, there are other pool companies that will pay attention to what you want and produce a product in a reasonable time. We couldn't be happier with our new pool from the other company! read more

Do NOT use them! It has been almost 13 months since we started the process. 12 months since we have been under contract with them AND they still have not finished the pool! The owner of the Company called me personally about 10 months ago when we began to have problems and he assured me that things were going to run smooth. They have never ran smooth. Sometimes a full month passes and they never show up to work on the pool. Their job so far has been average at best, but they do a great job at lying to you. They say they are going to show up and never do. Even their subcontractors say the same thing about them. If you are looking for a high end pool or anything below that, PLEASE go with someone else. There are many options out there that will treat you with respect. Trust me- their brand might have been worth something before, but based on what I have seen- it won't be in the future. Save your self a lot of headaches, stress and probably money. Use someone that cares. read more

We are wrapping up week 13 on our build with Keith Zars. Still have another "3 weeks" to go... We started the process in January/February. Ground breaking was the last week of March. We had originally been given an 8-12 week build time. I do think the quality in craftsmanship is there the workers are doing a great job. I just don't get enough feed back from the company with respect to a time line. I get that the COVID issue may be causing this delay. A frustration for me is that 2 other close friends started looking for a pool (different builders) well after I started with Keith Zars. They are swimming! In beautiful pools. With construction times at around 8 weeks. I've been told maybe 3 more weeks. But I don't think it'll be done. I still need decking / electrical panel / and pebble tech. Our backyard has been unusable for 13 weeks and we've been using our front yard. Recently while in the front yard our dog escaped his leash and was hit by a car he didn't make it... If you want a solid pool and don't mind waiting consider Keith Zars. If you want a pool done in a timely manner consider other builders. read more

If I could give Keith Zars Pools 10 stars I would. I've owned my pool for 6 years. I also continue with the extended warranty and it is worth every penny. My pool takes less than 10 minutes per week to care for. Once a month I backwash the filter and that takes another 10 minutes. My pool is as beautiful as the day they built it. Service is impeccable. John is absolutely the best for my quarterly maintenance (covered by the warranty) and addresses any questions immediately. And the warranty is transferable if I sell my house. these guys are the worst. cant give a quote on repairs for something they installed. let them know I needed a new profiler skimmer bag and am sure it is a propriety item that will probably cost 100's. still haven't fixed the cleaner system. they have so many different departments with so few qualified people that couldn't care less. theyntell you you will get an e-mail stating when your cleaning date wi;; be and then some random guy shows up at all hours of the night/ day/ time. and they want huge amounts of money because of their great service read more

Just finished out pool and the experience so far has been amazing. The Forman, Jessie, is the best. So knowledgeable and helpful. and all the groups of workers that came in when their part was ready were so nice, respectful and did an awesome job. So far, from sales to build, it has been wonderful. Nothing but problems. Started with the worst project manager, left with a guy who said the plaster was no good. Keith himself tells me he will take care of everything and now...get a call today from a guy (who admitted to not looking at the file) who says he doesn't see a problem...really, we need to do this all over again! We have had our Keith Zar pool at least 10 yrs plus and he must the best and only service guy I would recommend. He will go theextra mile tohelp make your pool great!! Keith Zars designed and built our pool 18 years ago. We had a quarterly maintenance agreement from the beginning to which we have added weekly pool maintenance in recent years. Whenever there has been an issue, which have been few, over the years they have been responsive and diligent in solving the problem to our satisfaction. We're happy swimmers. read more
