It's rare to find a place that lives up to its claim; but this is a really good British cafe. I have had breakfast and lunch here and the hot and cold foods are excellent. So too are they various English biscuits and other treats that are hard to find in the US! Highly recommended?

This family is so considerate and runs their cafe so well. I feel so comfortable and welcomed here. The food and tea are excellent too!

First off I want to say Kellie is fabulous. She gave me fantastic recommendations for breakfast. I also appreciate her playful banter she has with her customers. I ordered the cowboy which was incredible. It was made with "English" sausages. This sandwich was better than most American breakfast sandwiches I've had !!

First time here, and everything was excellent from service to menu. Black pudding was perfect, and the portions are spot on. Great location and atmosphere.

Despite outdoor construction, we were transported to England while we dined at Kellie's. We enjoyed our meal. I got the Cowboy sandwich which had the most delicious back bacon. My mom had the full English breakfast and they make all meals to order which was wonderful. The jam was perfect! We also ordered a sausage roll, which was my reason for coming. It was very flaky and tasty. Kellie and her partner greeted us and were very nice.

Great spot to grab a sandwich or breakfast item. I liked my turkey sandwich. Note that the cafe does close at 2pm, however.

The clam cakes were individual and easier for sharing and were my fav between the two. Stuffie was for old times sake. Had the lobster roll, one of three on a New England vacation. Came with fries. Tasty of course but I think I prefer my bun toasted and the lobster meat in larger pieces rather than chopped up as is the case here. Best was the company catching up with old friends. And eat here, we did !! YiaYia's was so good. We ordered a bowl of lentil soup to share, which was delicious. Then, we each got our own pita sandwich. My husband ordered the GYRO PITA, which had grilled gyro meat, peppers, tomato, onion & tzatziki sauce, and I ordered an EGGPLANT PITA, which had fresh mozzarella, feta, grilled eggplant & olive oil, sitting open face on some grilled pita bread. We swapped half of our sandwiches, so we could each try the other's. We both liked the gyro pita a little more than mine (the eggplant), but make no mistake, they were BOTH GREAT. His was just a little bit better... so he told me afterward he was sorry he gave up his half sandwich... even though he liked the eggplant. I understood... but was secretly glad I got his half cuz it was really good. : ) We spoke with the owners, who were very nice. They asked us to come back, and while we said we would... and had every intention to do so cuz the food was so good, we just ran ourselves out of time. I was thinking we could get there for breakfast the next day, but it never happened... so for me, that just means we'll have to make good on the deal and get back to Newport (someday) and get that breakfast !! Too bad we live 3,000 miles away. It might take us awhile.

We were both really glad we went there because dining indoors was lovely, and we still had a great view of the bay. The food was delicious, we walked around outside after our meal, so we didn't feel like we lost out on any aspect of our lunch. It was just rearranged. We both ordered lobster rolls, which came with French fries. The lobster roll was incredibly overstuffed with lots of beautiful lobster meat. It was impressive to see and even better to bite into. The lobster was sweet and succulent and loads of it, surrounded by a buttery brioche bun. Fabulous !! It was a wonderful first meal of our vacation, so we were off to a great start. We decided to split dessert and ordered their lemon meringue tart. It was so pretty, and it tasted even better. It was a beautiful day when we went there... not too hot nor humid. This place is known for a whole slew of adirondack chairs laid out on the inn's "hill." It was quite crowded when we were there. Very popular spot. I'm so glad we opted to have our lunch indoors at this famous inn at Castle Hill. We loved it.

As noted above we have eaten here in the past. We have dined with large as well as small groups and have always been pleased. The place is beautiful, especially in the summer. The outdoor patio bar boasts a great view of Green End Pond. A great place to grab a drink and an appetizer. We started out on the patio and returned later for dinner. Based on our sub par experience the night before (see prior review) I was committed to having a great meal. We were not disappointed. I started with the clam chowder. Delicious. Flavorful and loaded with clams. My wife opted for the lobster bisque In an effort to negate the lousy lobster bisque she had on the previous night. Mission accomplished. She described it as buttery and creamy. Essentially the perfect bisque flavor. Contained within the bisque was a tremendous chunk of delicious lobster meat . For dinner, I chose the baked stuffed shrimp. It was delicious. Cooked to perfection with delicious stuffing, rice, pilaf, and broccoli. My only complaint is that I believe there should be more than 4 shrimp at this price. My wife selected the Pasta Bolognese. A dish that she has had and several other restaurants in several states and she ranked this right at the top of the list. Plenty of beef and pork combined with a tasty Italian sauce. When in the Newport area I suggest you skip the over hyped restaurants and head to Johnny's for a delicious meal with great atmosphere.

We arrived a little early for our 4:00 p.m. reservation, and the place was already packed. While we waited by the bar, a very nice waitress took our drink order--a lemon drop martini, beautifully crafted, well-balanced, and pleasantly strong. We were seated shortly after and, of course, ordered another. (Both times, I took several sips before remembering to take a photo!) Our waitress, Mikela, was truly lovely--sincere, sweet, and very courteous. She was attentive throughout the meal without ever being intrusive, which made the experience feel relaxed and effortless. At the end, I told her I wished I could give her 6 stars, but Yelp only allows 5. For dinner, we both ordered the seared rare ahi tuna steak. I had mine with garlic bread, while my husband chose mashed potatoes. I also added the $9.95 salad buffet, which is such a great deal--you definitely won't leave hungry. I especially love their buffet-style salad bar, which offers nearly every option one could want. Both of our ahi tuna steaks were fantastic--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Once again, I dug into my tuna before remembering to take a photo! We finished the meal with a cheesecake to share--another delicious ending to a wonderful dinner. We're already planning our next visit--there are still so many dishes and drinks we'd love to try.

Our waiter was kind, attentive, and very patient with us as we managed two hangry kids. One employee who was on break even helped me find a quiet spot to take a work call which I really appreciated. The kids' meal came out almost immediately. My son got the cheeseburger, and I was surprised by how big it was. It was adult sized, and he enjoyed and finished all of it. The mussels were the standout of the meal and the best I've personally had. They were incredibly fresh with no fishy smell and the broth was so flavorful. The bread that came with it was perfect for soaking up every last bit of the broth. The salmon was very fresh and cooked well. The shrimp scampi was also really good. The clam chowder was an 8 out of 10 for me. Not the best I've ever had but definitely one of the better ones. Pricing was mid range and felt fair for the quality of the food and the portions. Overall, we were really happy with the meal. Great service, fresh seafood, generous kids' portions, and a fun atmosphere. I'd definitely come back, especially for the mussels.
