What a ripoff...ordered the ham, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. $7.00... Got a small English muffin with one egg on it, a skimpy piece of deli ham and a thin slice of cheese. Kellie's has my vote for the best cafe in the area. Kellie, the owner, is delightful and gives the cafe some authentic British charm. She greets each customer as if they were an old friend and she's always able to chat regardless of how busy the cafe is. She's a true professional who also instills the cafe with a sense of identity and pride - more small business owners could take a page from her book! The menu is a combination of British and American, though the meat pies and English breakfast fare are my personal favorites. Kellie also recommends British toppings from time to time - two visits ago my fiancé and I tried some phenomenal British mustard on our breakfast sandwiches. The cafe is spotless, with tables to sit and have a bite, and the British decor is a welcome change from other cafes in the area. The prices at Kellie's are also better than Bishop's Diner, which is probably their biggest competitor given that it's right down the road. Both are fine local establishments but I have to give the edge to Kellie's due to the exceptional service, prices and quality of food. Visiting friends in Newport and they wanted to try this new British cafe. The full English set breakfast was fantastic. Kellie was especially excited when I ordered my eggs sunny side up, the "way they are supposed to be!" Black pudding and sausage were great, beans and toast are one of my favorite breakfast items but the real winner was the rasher of bacon. The ice coffees are very generous in size, one of the biggest I've ever been served!! They also offer an array of traditional meat pies and rolls, fresh pastries and breakfast sandwiches. Such a cute little cafe right off the exit after going over the Newport bridge!! The owner Kellie is so sweet and friendly!! I had the full English breakfast and it was cooked by her English chef! Kellie even had her Mum in the cafe helping her out. Mum was setting up a hutch with all of these beautiful porcelain English tea sets! Very cute and cozy cafe! Great big display of baked goods to choose from including muffins, scones, bagels, turnovers, and traditional English eats too (sausage rolls, meat pies, and Cornish pasties!). Hidden Gem! I have been looking for authentic British meat pies and other treats since moving to the States from England many years ago. My search is finally over! The sausage rolls and pork pies are the Real Deal: savory, delicious, and pair well with a cup of tea or a pint of ale. Perfect place for a spot of tea alongside a wonderful authentic English breakfast! Got the 'Full Monty' along with my partner. The whole meal was very nostalgic of my times visiting my family in the U.K. I highly recommend, if not for the food then for the wonderful people that run the café. This is a hiding-in-plain-sight gem a few storefronts down from Aardvark Antiques and on the way to Naval Station Newport. They have both American & English breakfasts, all different types of bread & bagels & fresh baked muffins & scones. We loved the Cowboy Breakfast, egg, sausage & ham on a baguette. Their made-to-order breakfast sandwiches are wonderful too. Whatever your breakfast drink is, coffee, latte or tea, they have it. Lunches are sandwiches or salads & they have a variety of English pies. The afternoon brings English tea; make a reservation for that. And for those of you craving English candy, they have it here! I found Kellie's one morning last week while on vacation in Newport. Due to seasonality or Covid, very few places were open at 8am for breakfast anywhere in Newport. My wife and I were welcomely greeted by the owners upon arrival and thoroughly enjoyed our traditional English breakfasts (fried eggs, baked beans, sausage, rashers and delicious toast). Let me start this by saying I have never left a review for a restaurant before but this place was simple to good not to. This place is amazing. It's a quite little spot but that doesn't mean it's lacking in character or amazing service and food. Kellie and David are incredibly nice people who are welcoming and happy to help you in any way they can. Not only that they make you feel like you've been coming to the cafe for years. The food is delicious with everything being authentic and homemade. The scones are otherworldly, actually the best scones of my life. The coffee is great as well. It's really cool to see such an authentic place that specializes in British teas, pastries, breakfast, and lunches. The bread alone is worth coming for which they bake fresh there.
