This was once my favorite togo place to get all my paints but won't be anymore because of an unhelpful and rudest worker at this location. I wished I gotten his name, I will soon yet this fella looks obviously out of shape, heavyset guy, appears to be going bald soon, he looks more busy trying to hit on a younger female co-worker, he was deliberately super unfriendly and bitter about something for certain. This place isn't recommended and Home Depot nearby was 101% friendlier and found out a lot less costly was exactly where I went immediately after with ease. read more

Unfortunately even after my 4th attempt they could not match the color. The person working there claimed he has been doing it for years, but I am not impressed. I am now out of all the samples cut from drywall and would need to cut more if I want to make yet another attempt. But I have given up now, I don't think they can match it. Just sharing my experience and suggest others to look somewhere else if you are looking to buy paint to match your existing color. The employees that work at this location give Kelly Moore a bad name. I went in to look at their paint color options. While I was in there, the employees spent the entire time talking about how dumb the customers are and telling stories of the dumbest customers they've dealt with. One guy, who wasn't wearing a face mask, was bragging about a time when someone complained that he didn't have a face mask on. He said that he told the customer that he wasn't going to put on a mask and that he doesn't care what they say, because this coronavirus is just a hoax. Kelly Moore needs to do a better job on deciding who they hire because employees like the ones at this location make the company look bad. They already lost me as a customer thanks to those bad employees. read more

I went to this Kelly Moore location to get some paint to touch up a ceiling. We have a new house and were told by the builder that they had used Kelly Moore Western Acoustic as the paint color. Our house is just a year old. When I went to the store, they told me that they had discontinued Western Acoustic as a stock color and "reformulated" the mix so they could no longer accurately reproduce the color that is used for all my ceilings and woodwork. Now here is the part that really gets me: the guy behind the counter tells me that if I want to be able to do touch ups without seeing a difference in color, I needed to cut out a piece of my ceiling and bring it into the store so they could try to colormatch their own color and that "that is what other people do". Seriously?? I doubt that other people are out there cutting pieces out of their walls and ceilings to try to get these guys to match the color. I'm going to buy a gallon of Behr and just repaint the whole ceiling. read more

Went to the Pleasanton Kelly Moore store to buy a gallon of paint, for my customer. Didn't take the can, since I had the base color and the additives. The counter guy told me they couldn't match it without a 2" x 2" piece of paint "chip" cut from the drywall. I returned an hour later with this chip. A different counter guy ( I think he may have been the store manager), told me it there was at least a 1.5 hour wait for coloring matching, and on a weekday, too. Returned again, at 5:30pm, and was told the guy who'd matched the paint was not available - to me the color seemed a bit dark. Sure enough, it was not close to the color of my customer's walls. And although it was their fault, they would not take it back, since it was a custom color. Took the chip to Home Depot, and they produced a good match in less than 10 mins, and at a significant savings over Kelly Moore. What a miserable experience at Kelly Moore. Businesses that provide that poor level of customer support, in my view, should go bankrupt - and sooner rather than later. I'll never buy products from them again. read more

So, I had a quart size paint can that I had forgotten to close and, of course, it dried up. It was about two years old but figured, since my home builder used it and it is a pretty plain color, I will go to color more so that I can do touch up on the wall. I walk in there and goof man tells me they no longer have the color there, BUT, there is another color that they could possibly try, but can't guarantee that it will match AND it only comes in a gallon size. I say, "So, you no longer have this paint and you're telling me I can only buy it in the gallon size of which it may not really match?" He says, "Yes." I say, "Forget it then and give me back my old paint can and the hardened paint you took out of it so I can match it." Then, goof man says, "Well, we can match it for you." I'm thinking, "WTF?! You just told me that you can't really do this and now you're saying you can." So, I get happy for a moment and say "So, you're saying you can match this paint and I can get it in a quart size?" He says "Yes." I say, "Ok, let's do it". So, I leave and he tells me it will be ready on Tuesday. This was a Saturday I did this. I get home 10 minutes later with a message on my answering machine: "This is so and so from Kelly Moore calling to tell you we only sell the paint in a gallon size." So annoyed, I call back and tell them to forget it and that I want my old paint can and sample back. He says "Ok." Ummm, HELLO!!!! read more

They perfectly matched the paint that my moron contractor, did a switch-a-roo a few years ago. So a when I had that guy paint my house we agreed on "sand dollar". Well today I had to do some touch ups, and I bought the same color we agreed *then* on. It was completely different. I chipped off a piece of the paint with and gave it to them for a match. It took an hour and it involved more manual work beyond the spectrometer but the guy there has a golden eye and he made a PERFECT match. They truly saved the day and my pocket $2500 from re-painting the house. read more

We arrived about 20 minutes before closing. We ordered the paint about 8 minutes before closing. It was cutting it close but we needed the paint before morning and couldn't make it any earlier. The young boy who helped us was in an obvious hurry to clock out and kept asking for the manager's help. The manager was chatting on the phone, which seemed to be a personal call judging from the conversation and continued to ignore his employee, thereby ignoring us as customers. It was quite an interesting scene to behold. The kid's rushed behavior the entire time and his attempts at trying to get his manager to help him (who was literally only 7 feet away) didn't help me choose a color any faster. There was a summer sale going on for paints to be 20% (or was it 30%?) off on certain colors (I forget the details now) which I inquired about. The kid firmly stated that the discount was for licensed contractors only. "All right. Thanks anyway," I said and used our Preferred Customer discount of 10%. The next day we realized that the $175 worth of paint we had bought from them wasn't enough, but as we were no longer in the area, we went to the closest one to our job - the Kelly Moore at HESPERIAN & LEWELLING. We ordered 4 more gallons. And whaddyaknow, the cans were on sale and applied to us as well. We mentioned it to the Manager (who embodies the trifecta of a great business manager - professional, courteous, & gracious) and he said that if the other Kelly Moore didn't honor the discount, he would. We went back to the Hopyard Kelly-Moore the next day and were given the big rejection. Again about seven feet behind the new associate and sitting on his stool watching was the same indifferent manager. How this location is still doing business is questionable. Though this location is minutes away from me, I have become loyal to the Hesperian & Lewelling location and will continue to make the drive there. The difference in customer service and experience between the stores of the same company is amazing. read more

This location has the worst customer service compared to any other branch. Every employee has a different policy they pretend to enforce. From making you call your painter to get his pricing FOR SAMPLES (with no verification that the person on the other end of the line is actually your painter) to checking that the credit card you use is yours AFTER IT'S ALREADY RUN THE CHARGE. We chose our color, the paint type, etc. When the other sales person helped us, he quoted us the price for the paint we wanted. We agreed so he went ahead and mixed the paint, etc. We paid but when we reviewed the receipt, it was $12 more than what we were originally quoted. He said that he exchanged the paint since the one we wanted was out of stock. GRRRR! He did this without informing us!!! Well we talked to the unfriendly asst. store manager and all he proposed is a return. There was not even an attempt to rectify the situation. No apologies-nothing! Just left Kelly-Moore on Hopyard. Everyone who has helped me there has been very nice. The quality of their paint is excellent, every time I've had a designer or a painter recommend paint they recommended Kelly Moore. Also, I am a preschool teacher and paint sticks come in handy for multiple craft and organizational uses in a preschool classroom. At this store they are always great about donating paint sticks for us to use in our classroom. read more
