My adult daughter and I had our first lesson with her today and I cannot say enough great things about her. She has the experience, knowledge, and ability to teach you, your kids, or anyone how to ride correctly so that you are confident in the saddle. She also shows you how to groom and tack up (saddle) your horse which increases your confidence around horses. She is definitely safety first, has incredible patience, no judgment, and is a lovely and friendly person. Everything you could possibly want in a riding instructor. I have ridden a fair amount over the years but haven't been on a horse in several years. I wanted to improve my form and technique while getting back into riding. Dede was the perfect choice to get started again. My daughter and I took a lesson together (great bonding experience, parents!) Very helpful to eavesdrop on the tips she was giving each of us while we were in the arena. There is also the option of doing trail rides while we learn which we'll definitely take advantage of as we progress. Who knew there were gorgeous trails right off the 605/60 freeways?!?!? Dede has a number of beautiful, well-trained horses to suit every rider and their ability. The Whittier Narrows Equestrian Center is a large and lovely facility, well maintained, with easy access off the 605, and immediate access to riding trails. With summer vacation on the horizon, Urban Horseman is the ideal source for riding lessons, horsemanship camps for kids, individual (or perhaps small group/friends lessons), or parent/kid time together. Reasonable rates for quality instruction. You will absolutely get your money's worth at Urban Horseman and have a fantastic time learning or improving your riding skills. I contacted Lynn because I wanted to get instruction and have a positive trail experience with an expert. Lynn exceeded my expectations! My own horse is boarded at another stable, so I was matched with a safe and experienced trail horse belonging to Lynn's assistant. My lessons started with a short introduction to my horse in the arena followed by a short trail ride. Subsequent lessons took us farther into the trail system. Lynn knows the trails like the back of her hand and chose trails that challenged me but did not overface me. She freely shares her extensive knowledge about trail riding technique, trail etiquette, and safety. We saw lots of beautiful scenery. Encounters with deer, mountain bikes, hikers, courting peacocks, squealing children in trees, and joggers with mylar balloons all came off without incident, thanks to Lynn and Star, the perfect trail horse. Lynn offers private instruction, group lessons, and horse care. I had a great experience and recommend Strand Training Center without reservation!

Missed my flight, got five hours of sleep, and drove the kids to Newport for their horseback ride. I was a little nervous reading a review where an adult was led on his ride, however, this was not my experience. We had two adults and two small children in our party. One of my children was led by the pony for half the ride and then all of us were able to ride at our own pace with the most beautiful view of the water and beachside. Stacy was great with my kids and the horses. I was never worried about safety and the ride was calming. I felt centered for the first time in weeks after the ride. It was beautiful. She spent a lot of time with us. I am grateful for a wonderful 3rd birthday, thank you! We were just a little cramped in the beginning with another birthday party there. My children learned to paint hooves though, and that was an excellent activity to space out the two separate parties.

They have a wide array of saddles (western and English) for little kids along with horses who are well trained with little kids. Carol has mentored a lot of people, and she's have assistants (Megan O'Brien). She's strict when it comes to her lessons, but it's sooo worth it. She's not like other trainers, who will keep you at first level forever. If your horse is capable of Grand Prix, she'll get you to Grand Prix in a year or two. (She fixed my sitting trot in one lesson!) She's that good. And if she feels like you're not improving enough with her, she'll let you know too. She hates boring 20 meter lessons! Another cool thing is that she creates a family atmosphere wither her peeps. She's throws parties, dinners, shows, shopping excursions, so you get a trainer and a family too! Recently, she's been more focused on breeding though. Her horses are sooooo beautiful, and they move sooooo nicely. If you're looking for a Dressage horse, ask her! She's very honest about her horses, so she won't lie to you to make a quick buck off of them. Overall, if you're lucky enough to get a lesson with her, get one or few hundred! If you're lucky enough to buy a dressage mount, contact her! She's freakin' awesome!

Our experience @ Will Mar has been outstanding. It truly is a happy place for riders & horses. The stalls are large & generously padded. Horses are fed three times per day; supplements are given daily per owners' instructions. Stalls are cleaned seven days per week. Horses are turned out for several hours six days per week. The layout of the facility is quite perfect with easy access to the round pen, turnouts, wash area & tack rooms. Rainy weather? Hand walking mostly possible as walkways are covered with gravel. The footing in the arena is top notch. Training with Amy Miller is superb. She has a special communication gift not only with equines but also with riders. Each lesson is immensely valuable & brings out the best in every horse-rider team. If you & your horse/s are looking for boarding only, consider WMEC.
