I recently discovered this trail as I drove by it several times in the past. I hiked here yesterday with my husband & we thought the trail was easy to moderate depending on which route you plan to take. I believe I saw 2 different paths. We did the easy route for the sake of getting our steps in & somehow, it led us to castlewood trail on the other side. We completed 3.5 miles round trip. There were no shades so wear a hat & sunblock. Luckily, the weather wasn't so hot yesterday. I definitely want to try the other route next time! read more

Nice small trail , it's very small, and has a lot of hill I wouldn't go here to get my steps it's more for a nice small still as slippers to a hike. read more

Came here with my yoga studio for a hiking run. There are 2 entrances to the park so ensure you are specifying which one when meeting with others. We parked on castle road and took it from there. There is not much shade throughout the trail to use sunblock and hats. This is a dirt trail going next to the desert like reserve and ending at a manmade lake. You cross one of the main streets but the light to cross was very fast. This is my first run and it was a bit of challenge for me. I would say it's an easy/moderate because of the hill if walking. read more

There are two entrances, by parks rd and Castlewood, with a few spots on the side of the road and close to castle trail. By Euclid, you can park by laguna Lake Park. The overall length is around 1.5 to 2.5 miles, depending on the route. The area is great for quick hikes for dogs for horses and runners and joggers. Steep inclines. Soon to come is the opening of the other side, where it's being master planned. That should add around 3 miles extra of trails. There are great little dirt ramps for bikes. Overall, it's a small park ready for a grandeur future. For now, it's a small park for niche exercise or quick hikes on steep inclines. This is a nice trail near Laguna Lake in Fullerton. I like to modify the Nora Kuttner Recreational Trail and head through the Robert E. Ward Nature Preserves to make this a short but more challenging walk with hills. I park at the Laguna Lake Park at the corner of Clarion Drive & Lakeview Drive, just off Euclid Street. The parking lot gate is closed at sunset, so park along the street if you plan to get back after dark. 00.00 miles - Take the unmarked Bud Turner Trail, on the east side of the Laguna Lake Park parking lot, south towards the horse arena & Euclid St. Be alert for bikers! 0.43 - Go Right on Laguna Rd & cross Euclid St. Go Left on the sidewalk along Euclid St. 0.59 - Go Right over the railroad tie Then Left on the wide dirt path at the 'Robert E. Ward Nature Preserve' sign. The small dirt trail to the far left is for the bikers flying down the hill. 0.90 - Step over the 2nd railroad tie & head Right uphill on the wide trail. The small trail to the left is the actual Nora Kuttner Trail, but I go Right for a longer & harder walk. 1.05 - Go Right around the eroded hill to follow the concrete half pipe drain & water pipe along the chain fence. The trail to the lower left is the Castlewood Trail. 1.16 - You reach the 'Secret Opening' in the chain fence. Go through it, Go Right, then immediately Left up the wide dirt road which turns into an abandoned asphalt road. The views of the cactus landscape & the city below are nice & most likely you will be all alone. 1.43 - Go Right at the 'T' in the road as it heads towards Euclid St. From now on, stay to the Left all the way back until you re-reach the 'Secret Opening' as you complete the lasso loop. 1.81 - Stay Left onto the dirt road at the 'Y'. The asphalt road to the right meets up later though. The dirt road heads around the hill, then goes downhill to the left & back on the asphalt road. 2.00 - The 1st of 3 short but STEEP hills. Unfortunately, there is a lot of broken glass on these abandoned asphalt hills. 2.50 - At the top of the 3rd hill, you re-reach the 'Secret Opening' in the chain fence. Go Left through it & head back towards Laguna Lake. 3.63 - Back at the Laguna Lake parking lot, but I like to walk around the lake. 4.40 - Back at the parking lot, after going around the lake. * 554 feet of elevation gain. read more

Nora Kuttner Recreation Trail is a small trail located in the city of Fullerton that spans across residential district and housing. It follows multiple streets and hosts a plethora of wild life in the canyon and brush inside the paths perimeters. I personally loved this trail, coming here on a Friday evening with plenty of parking street side. The trail is clearly marked with plenty of posting of the rules and the walk is at your own pace. They have two dedicated sides, splitting in the middle. One is for bikers and the other for hikers and horseback. The trails themselves are a bit steeper but still make for an easy hike hosting a great bit of sights, off shoots to the main trail and plenty of wildlife to keep you occupied. I really enjoyed the 3.4 mile hike and it made for a great evening. The trails can be slightly confusing but as long as you stick to the main path it will be great for anything from exercise to a fun nature walk! read more

Nora Kuttner Recreational Trail - Hiking Near Me - Fullerton, California

Nora Kuttner? More like Nora Cutter. The top of the trail head or highest point of it has glass everywhere. There's tons of broken bottles throughout some of the trail. It's quite unfortunate with some of the city views you get and even more unfortunate having to carry a 40 lbs corgi through some of it. I'm pretty sure this is just a small continuation of the larger web of trails in Fullerton but it needs some attention. Unless i missed something. It's like half a mile to the next street, so there must be extensions of this trail that crosses a lot of major streets. The views of coyote hills are basically just cactus but you can see peeks of the mountains and the ocean too from the higher glass filled point read more

This is my go to trail it's about 18 minutes...depends on where you park. Parking can be tricky I wasn't aware of the "trail walking meter" it signals the cars to slow down because it's a very busy and dangerous road (not all cars slow down) unfortunately. Be courtesy to the bikers! read more

I'm gonna be a bit confused with the parks, because the next 3 reviews are close to each other. Nora Kuttner Recreational Trail is a trail that takes you from Parks/Castlewood all the way to Euclid Street. At the beginning, you get to have a climb up (remember this trail is kinda small on side). You walk a while and to the left (supposedly) there is a guy who has a tombstone there. If you can see that (I did), you keep walking. You hope that there's more tree cover but you don't think you'll have too much. But that's okay. Keep walking and walking and walking and at the middle you'll have the top/apex. You will have a great shot/view of the area, of the desert area. There's a lot of sand/mud in the area but it's a good view to look at because you can see a lot in front of you. If and when you are done, you can take the walk all the way down and reach the end of the trail, which is at Euclid. There are some connections to some of the streets w/ cul de sacs, but at the end of the day it's Parks-Euclid connection. There are also some sewage pipes in the area. I really enjoyed coming to this trail and plan on coming back more often. Coming here we were confused on where to park so ended up finding parking in probably not the correct place. The scenery inside is full of cactus plants. I have never seen so much cactus, but it was definitely a pretty sight. As for a lot of trails they run alongside the backyard of some really nice homes. This trail has a lot of homes with beautiful backyards that are really nice to look at. The trail has two ways you can go up...One Is for hikers and one is for bicycles. It shows that horses go up there too but when I was there I didn't see any. I really liked the incline up the hill. I could really feel it in my calves and glutes. It was my kind of workout. Some areas have a lot of rocks and wood sticking out so you have to be really careful where you are walking. You can get some really cool pictures at the top! Can't wait to come back. read more

I love that this hike is uphill because you can really put your glutes to work. At the top you have a beautiful view of Fullerton hills. They have a bike trail and another for hikers. We used the bike trail which is more narrow and the incline was pretty intense. Just watch out for the rocks sticking out, I almost tripped. There are lots of cactus everywhere. They have flower buds which haven't bloomed yet but I'm sure once they do it looks beautiful. The scenery is okay with lots of dry trees and shrubs. Definitely don't want to strike a match up here. You can tell people come up and party at the top because there was beer cans and cases left behind. No problem with having a little fun, I know I do, but at least pick up your trash and preserve the area. read more

Overall, this is a nice short trail that leads to and from others in the area. It's got some good hills to it too. The trail is sandwiched between a residential tract and the Robert E. Ward Nature Preserve. I went early in the morning and it was nice and quiet, not too many people out, just the way I like it [: I wouldn't go after the rain, it gets pretty muddy. The first hill is pretty tricky to make it up and even worse going down (I actually did a victory dance when I made it to the bottom with out falling on my bum!). Watch out for bikers! The hills are steep and you may not see them coming around the corner until it's too late. Oh, and you have to share the trail with horses too... didn't see too much poo so I don't think they come that way very often. I'll have to hit this again when the sunny warm socal weather returns.... Until then, get out and keep active! read more

This trail is a little confusing. The sign for the entrance is by Park and Castlewood as you can see on the map. However, parking you will need to park in a residential area which I parked by Caminon Del Sol. You can just walk along the side until you hit the trail. It will be an upward climb but many bikers will be using the same trail so please share the road. Or for a beginners version, you can park by Castlewood by Atherton Circle and there's a quick entrance from there. Once you climb up, look to the left side of the hill. Climb up and you'll see a picturesque view. Total time: less than 15 minutes. There is another trail directly across from Castlewood that takes you all the way downwards to Rosecrans. That, you don't want to take because you will be climbing upwards to get back to your car. Easy trail, simple view. Lots of Cactus to see. People walk their dogs here so beware of poop! read more

We love walking here! Parking is just in the neighborhoods. Be sure to watch for signs so you make sure you are parked somewhere you are supposed to. Also, do not leave anything valuable in your car. Nice little trail with a couple hills. Good for walking, running, and mountain biking. Really pretty at sunset. We have see a couple photo shoots here too. read more

I personally like it I went on a great sunny day and I had a blast with my family, it's cool cause you can upgrade your walk all the way to the Laguna Lake Park. Yes look out for bikers they love the speed of the down hill so you may want to pull over to the side and enjoy the view. It's great I counted 5 wild rabbits by the time I left. Great trail to hike with your dog. It's not a difficult hike but it's a nice one. Lots to see on the trail.

Had a great time hiking the area! The trail connects to multiple parks and nearby trails in the area. Plenty of space with designated trails for hikers and Mountain Bikes. Great for residents that don't have the time to drive further to get a good workout. I hate being looky-loo but there are a lot of beautiful homes along the way to see as well. Bring your kids too!! Plenty of places to rest and explore. read more
