The ear waxing process was also much more painful than I've experienced before, and during it, wax got into the hair near my ear. After several minutes of trying to remove it with some kind of liquid, the only solution ended up being cutting that piece of hair off because the wax wouldn't come out. Overall, not a good experience and I won't be returning.

My regular waxer at a different location called out sick so I had to book last minute at the San Ramon branch. I have avoided this location for a reason because I have had back to back terrible experiences here before. One time I was left waiting almost 40 minutes for my appointment. Another time I walked out with a bunch of hair left behind. Today I booked with any available specialist and ended up with Sarah. She was nice and talkative, but the second she started applying the wax I could tell she had no idea what she was doing. Every experienced waxer I have been to applies wax in one smooth direction. Sarah was going back and forth like she was mixing some kind of potion. She kept wiping the area with a wet wipe before almost every strip which made it impossible for the wax to stick or pull out the hair properly. When she told me she was done I looked at the area and was shocked. There was so much hair left everywhere and the area was messy with stray hairs still stuck to my skin. I asked her to go over it again which she did but the results were just as bad. It still looked unfinished and uneven. I was supposed to get another service but I was so angry I told her I was leaving. I complained to the front desk and they said they would schedule a touch up two hours later. I was already irritated that I had to drive all the way to San Ramon for this disaster and now they expected me to come back. I agreed at first but something came up and I had to call multiple times to try and move it around. I ended up not being able to make it. When I got home hours later I found wax still all over the area she worked on and even on my clothes. I called furious and demanded to be comped for this so-called service. I came in for a clean wax and left with a mess and a worse experience than before. They said a manager would call me within two days. We will see if that even happens. I will never ever come back to this location ever again.

Listen to me, ladies (and some gents)---stop waxing and start sugaring! Waxing burns, you get bad…read moreingrowns, the stubble is terrible! Sugaring doesn't have any of those effects. It's basically a big ball of melted sugar and some lemon juice that gets smoothed on your skin and rolled off. No strips or burning. Jen is great. She asks me about my weekend plans, my family, etc. to distract from the pain (yes it still hurts, but not as bad as waxing, I swear!). She's so fast and doesn't have to go over the same area over and over. She has great hours. She's an independent businesswoman who runs a clean and honest practice. What more do you need?

I am 68 and have been receiving services in salons since I was 19 and have never had this happen so frequently before. I had to move on to a new shop.

Now I'm not one for arguing so I agreed to pay the extra cost after asking while receiving the service what the heck the extra charge was for at the time, but what was even more ridiculous was that they only had charged me for the chin on previous visits for the same area. They shouldn't offer waxing if they aren't super excited about offering the wax and it wasn't worth $40. I liked the decorations when I went but staff demeanor was always so-so. Not truly welcoming.
