The ambiance is bright and cheerful and Kelly's Homemade Ice Cream is probably my favorite Ice cream in the Orlando, Florida area. I love that they change the flavors out monthly, though quite a bit are in permanent rotation. I tried several of the featured flavors for September and went with the S'mores. S'more. Kelly's Ice Cream is the best, so when I saw this new location, I had to stop in for some ice cream! My son and I stopped by, and he got a small scoop of chocolate ice cream while I ordered a coconut milkshake. I also picked up five of their cane sugar sodas to take home and try. Everything was delicious! My coconut milkshake was so good it was creamy, flavorful, and definitely worth ordering again. I can't wait to come back for another one. Had the pleasure of trying Kellys Homemade ice cream while visiting Orlando as our resort had their truck come out. I tried the salted caramel oreo and butter pecan flavors. They give you big scoops and the worker was even kind enough to let people do half chocolate and half vanilla if they wanted. I thought the ice cream was pretty good, not quite on par with Graeters, or Jenni's in Ohio (if you know, you know) and not as creamy smooth as other soft serve ice creams Ive tried. First trip to Kelly's in Maitland. Welcoming and friendly staff greeted us and offered samples of any flavors we wanted to try. I chose the peanut butter, cookies and cream and cookie dough option. Wow! The flavors were so divine! I opted for my scoop in a waffle bowl, topped with warm peanut butter sauce. They had cane sodas in a cooler as well that are really good! Everything went well on this recent trip to Kelly's! The place was lively and buzzing with contented customers of all ages. We were warmly welcomed in and we began to peruse the large variety of ice cream flavors. There was signage about their seasonal flavors which was very helpful. I immediately chose the German Chocolate Cake flavor from this list since I already had chocolate on my mind. I also noticed that Apple Cider Donut was a seasonal flavor. Of course I had to ask for a sample of that flavor too. At first, I didn't really taste the flavor like I expected to. But then, the aftertaste hit me! It was like the taste snuck up on me! I fully tasted the apple cider donut and the texture of the ice cream included bits of donut. The employees were friendly and we were soon on our way! The location is super convenient, and the decor is adorable and definitely gives cozy, happy vibes. The staff is always so sweet and welcoming, especially when it comes to offering samples (which I love!). Parking is also free in the area. I got my usual birthday cake ice cream in a waffle cup (my fave!), and it never disappoints. I really like that they introduce new flavors every month, even though I usually stick to what I love. I'm dairy free and they have four options available for me and allow me to taste each of them. I settled on the cherry , vanilla dairy free, and it was absolutely delicious, not overly sugary and had a real cherries. My son had the Cookie Monster and he absolutely loved it. They also have rotating flavors for a seasons and they allowed us to taste those as well. I love this location as I've been to the other ones in the parking is normally congested at the Corrinne Drive one as well as the one in Ivanhoe Village I like where it's located and that there's plenty of parking there. I wasn't a big fan of the seasonal flavors this time around, I really love the concept and floor combos on the board but the execution didn't hit for me. Caramel apple strudel- the apple flavor wasn't a good after taste and had an off flavor but the caramel was good. 4/10 Pumpkin pie cheesecake- I really really had high hopes but this was a miss, it had a very plain flavor and did not have a cheesecake flavor but ultimately it was a good pumpkin ice cream. 7/10 Peanut Butter Pie - I'm not a peanut butter person so I feel as thought I'm not rating this fairly but fans of Reese's will be very happy. 6/10 German Chocolate Cake - I didn't like the texture or taste of the cake, it tasted like a Walmart cake mixed with chocolate ice cream, It didn't have any of the import aspects of German chocolate cake like its creamy thickness or the moist cake. 4/10 Chocolate Covered Cherry - I was really excited to see a darker cherry because the tartness of a black cherry would've been so good with the chocolate but it was a dark maraschino cherry and it was too sweet. You didn't really get a lot of chocolate flavoring at all. Also this also had a texture issue because the cherries were so hard and tasted a little freezer burned. I had a friend say the same. 5/10 Cookie Monster - Good ol reliable right here, there were only 5 seasonal flavors so I went with my fav for the last of the flight. This is the creamiest Oreo ice cream mix everrrr. Also a great choice 9/10 Love the ambiance of the outside, you have a great view and a beautiful park to walk in after you finish your ice cream. 10/10 Service was okay, it wasn't super busy and they were fairly quick. After a busy day of checking antique malls, my folks and I felt like grabbing ice cream. We saw this location for Kelly's was close to where we were - it is their newest location that opened recently. It's on the ground floor of an apartment or condo residence. There is street parking and I believe some of the floors for the garage are for visitors or those there to shop the businesses on the street level. We were fortunate to find a spot to park, but I would suggest going when it's not a busy period if you don't want to take a long time to find a spot. This is one of the smaller footprints and I feel this is better for those who are picking up ice cream to eat and take away or to take back home, versus the main shop which has more room and tables where people can sit and eat their ice cream there. That being said, they have a good variety of flavors available and same as their other locations, they will let people try their ice cream flavors before making a decision. They still had the November flavors in store when I went, so we tried a few, but we landed on our tried and true flavors of strawberry, coffee, and pistachio in the end. Staff were friendly and made great recommendations to those who came in asking for assistance. The ice cream was smooth and tasted fresh. Did you know we could walk inside with our pup to order? My fiancé was waiting outside with our pup and was informed he could actually be inside with me to order. I personally haven't been to any physical shop for Kelly's but I work in the same stadium they serve treats in and have gotten the chance to see their prices and taste their product. I can say this is some of the best ice cream I've ever had! I'd rank twistee treat at #1 but since I've tried Kelly's it's a hard choice between the two. The ice cream was really good, however they do have their own style of flavors. If you pick a flavor based on what every other brand tastes like, I suggest you sample it first. For me personally, the pistachio wasn't what I expected. It wasn't bad, but to me it tasted like another flavor with just pieces of pistachio included. That is my own fault though for not tasting it beforehand because they did offer me samples. I believe they did have at least 1 dairy free option, possibly more but I wasn't looking for that. The people working the counter were super friendly & again they did offer me samples but I declined. I was at the maitland location on a Sunday right after the farmers market, also the same time people would be getting out of church. It was surprisingly empty in there. I love Kelly's but this location just is not cutting it. I have been there 3 times since it has opened and 2/3 times I've been I've had the same girl helping me. Those two times I've been in, they had just finished one of their Oreo doughs and added the left over, melted, bottom of the barrel ice cream to the top of a new one. The girl each time took the easy route and adds the old, melted ice cream into my cone and then just squishes the firm, fresh ice cream on top so of course it spills out over the edges of the cone. It wasn't too bad the first time but yesterday was absolutely pathetic. She even sheepishly apologized for how messy it was when she was handing it to me. Didn't offer napkins or anything. Another customer saw me struggling to pull napkins out of the dispenser with one hand. There was wayyy too much stuffed in there and the customer held down the dispenser while I tried to pull the napkin out. It just ripped in half and that's what I had to settle with. I have worked for Jeremiah's and am currently in the service industry so I have a lot of understanding and sympathy for new places and service but an ice cream shop serving fully MELTED ice cream in the florida heat??? Seriously? Was awful when i walked out the door and it immediately started melting more down my hands and I couldn't keep up with it. I didn't bother saying anything when they were helping me because the two working were clearly overwhelmed by the 5 people that were in the shop and I don't enjoy being that annoying customer. Kelly's seriously needs to fix how they train their employees and the standard of their presentations or just hire people who are competent and can handle scooping ice cream.
