I had an excellent experience working with Matthew Long, the Property Damage Adjuster at Kemper Insurance. Matthew is an extremely humble, kind, and respectful person who truly knows how to listen. What impressed me most was his ability to de-escalate difficult situations with patience, understanding, and professionalism. He is responsive, answers his phone, communicates clearly, and makes you feel that your concerns are actually being heard. Matthew's professionalism is truly next level. He is a tremendous asset to Kemper Insurance, and employees like him make a real difference in a customer's experience. Keep up the outstanding work, Matthew! Your dedication and professionalism are greatly appreciated. read more

Absolutely horrible, garbage insurance company. Their reckless client hits my new hummer while distracted on the phone snd this piece of garbage company finds me at fault even though their client admitted to swerving all over the road while being on the phone. This company has the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I spoke with someone about changing my auto-draft date, and I was told that it could not be changed due to company policy. I then asked her to remove my auto-draft completely, which she did. AFTER she removed it, she informed me that removing the auto-draft would result in an increase to my bill. I immediately told her, "Never mind, just leave the auto-draft on," and she told me she COULD NOT put it back. WHY was I not told about the increase BEFORE she removed my auto-draft? Had I known that beforehand, I obviously would have made a different decision. Now I'm being charged more because of a decision I made without being given all of the information first, and then I'm being told there's nothing that can be done to reverse it. This is absolutely ridiculous. Policies are one thing, but customer service should include clearly explaining the consequences of a change BEFORE making that change. I feel completely taken advantage of, and I am extremely frustrated with how this was handled. read more

This has been an extremely frustrating insurance experience. My claim was sent to investigation, and it has now been almost five months without a resolution or a clear explanation of what is causing the continued delay. I emailed investigator Daniel Vlahos on August 12 and, as of today, have not received a response. I also contacted his supervisor, Darcy Jefferson, on August 20 regarding the delays and lack of communication, but I still have not received a response. My adjuster, Karina, has also not been able to provide a clear update or timeline for resolution. We have fully cooperated and provided the information and documents requested from us. Despite this, every time I call for an update, I am transferred from one person to another without receiving a clear answer about the status of the claim or what still needs to be completed. After almost five months, a customer should not have to repeatedly call and email simply to understand what is happening with their own claim. The lack of communication, accountability, and meaningful progress has made this process extremely stressful and frustrating. If I could give zero stars based on my experience, I would. read more

UPDATE: After I filed an official complaint with the California Department of Insurance regarding how my claim was being handled, Kemper suddenly sent me a letter saying they are stopping the subrogation process and that I now have to handle everything on my own. Interesting timing. This is after weeks of poor communication, being ignored, being sent paperwork that belonged to the other party instead of my own claim information, and only getting responses after public reviews were posted. The Department of Insurance has officially opened a review file regarding their conduct during the handling of my claim. At this point I'm documenting everything carefully. I would strongly recommend people keep detailed records of every interaction if dealing with this company. read more

Kemper insurance is trying to claim that my vehicle was involved in their client's collision with ANOTHER VEHICLE. I was not even a witness to what happened to their client's collision with the other vehicle, so i can't even say what happened between their client's collision with ANOTHER vehicle, SEPARATE from me. They been hounding me with calls non stop and letters even though I was not even a WITNESS to what happened to their client. This is unethical and possibly constitutes insurance fraud. I don't know why they are not pursuing the actual vehicle that HIT THEIR CLIENT, and that car's insurance, but I presume it's either INCOMPETENCE or LYING on their part. It is ILLEGAL to misrepresent the connection of my vehicle to their client's collision, or misrepresent my involvement in any way. It is INSURANCE FRAUD I have located multiple other yelp reviews describing situations where Kemper reportedly mischaracterized their involvement in accidents. While I cannot verify those cases, they raise serious concerns about how my claim has been handled. read more

I'm writing this review because I've had an extremely frustrating experience trying to resolve a claim and get reimbursed for expenses I paid out of pocket. Back in October, I was involved in an accident that was determined not to be my fault by both Kemper and Progressive. Because of the situation, I had to pay several expenses upfront, including my deductible and rental car costs, with the understanding that I would be reimbursed once the claim was processed. My agent, Austin Aust, told me to obtain a claim number and submit my receipts, which I did. I provided documentation for all expenses. I was told I would be reimbursed once Progressive sent the payment to Kemper. However, Progressive has since informed me that the matter is now in Kemper's hands, and yet I have not received the reimbursement I'm owed. To make matters worse: - I've been trying to reach Austin Aust for updates with little to no response. - I've attempted to contact his supervisor Preston Snow, but the phone line goes straight to voicemail every time. - Months have now passed with no communication or resolution. The only payment I received was $600 for the rental, even though I paid $800 out of pocket. I am still waiting on reimbursement for my deductible, which I had to pay despite being found not at fault. This accident happened in October, and I paid these costs in November. It is now March, and I'm still getting the runaround with no clear answer or timeline. All I'm asking for is the reimbursement that I was told I would receive. I hope this review helps bring attention to the situation so it can finally be resolved. Austin Aust and Preston Snow are based out of the Jersey City location at 124 Town Square Place. Please contact them to do their job. read more

Customer service through email was respectful and courteous. My issue was resolved promptly!

My husband recently was involved in a car accident. We have been working with claims representative KARLA M. (Ext. 149271), who informed us that the decision to find my husband at fault was based solely on his statement and is now final. We strongly disagree with this assessment. My husband is the victim, and we have a witness--a local business owner--who is willing to provide video footage proving that my husband was not at fault. It is very disappointing that we were told it is our responsibility alone to provide evidence after a decision was reached, especially when a thorough investigation should have been conducted. Furthermore, the customer service we have received regarding this matter has been unprofessional and dismissive. While the other driver's vehicle has already been repaired, my husband's truck remains at the body shop due to this mishandled claim. We would like this evidence to be reviewed and the fault assessment reconsidered immediately. Please stay away from this insurance save your money but most of all stay away from careless customer service that they have working here. Horrible, horrible if not worst insurance ever! UPDATE ON CASE; I just received a phone call I had with the manager SHANA LEGNON. During the conversation, the manager was extremely rude and attempted to mischaracterize the situation by suggesting my husband caused the accident to harm himself. I have a recorded statement of my husband explaining the entire situation and his route home, which clearly contradicts these claims. Furthermore, there are witnesses who saw the accident and can confirm that the other driver, who provided false insurance information, was at fault for causing the collision. I am requesting to speak with a different representative who is willing to objectively review the facts and speak with the witnesses. I hope to resolve this matter promptly with someone willing to listen to the evidence. I will continue to update my experience until someone helps me to prevent anyone from experiencing what we are at this time. read more

Kemper is a cut rate insurer - pray you don't ever get hit by one of their drivers like I did. And if you pay them to insure you, you get what you pay for. Kemper has no customer service and their tactics are to delay claims as long as possible to mitigate their costs. They don't answer the phone and the phone rings directly to a voicemail that's never checked/returned. They text sparingly but at least the texts can be paper-trailed. A month after their driver running a red light and hitting me, they've still not processed their claim. Thankfully I have great insurance and moved forward with my claim to get my car repaired. I would not have had my car repaired if it wasn't for my insurance taking over. Unfortunately they slow play accepting liability which will affect your out of pocket upfront. I feel sorry for their driver as there is no end in sight if/when he'll get his car repaired (I envision he won't). My insurer will be subjugating costs to them but I expect this to be slow-played by Kemper as well. I worked with Jamain Hargrave who was the adjuster and it was an unpleasant experience full of lies and delays. The only professional part of this ordeal was working with their inspector, Isaiah. Do not trust this company with your insurance. You'll pay for it in the long run. Pray that you're never hit by their driver. I use Progressive for what its worth. read more

1 Star - Terrible Insurance Company I had an accident on April 17, 2025, and until today my car still has not been repaired. This has been one of the worst experiences I've ever had with an insurance company. I can never reach my claims adjuster. Every time I call, the phone goes straight to voicemail, and I never get a call back. It feels like they completely ignore their customers. This situation should have been a simple process, but Kemper has turned it into a nightmare. I've been waiting for months with no solution, no updates, and no support. I honestly do not recommend Kemper to anyone. They charge expensive premiums and do not take care of their customers when you actually need help. Avoid Kemper Insurance at all costs. read more

This is the worst insurance company I've ever come across in my entire life. First of all their Customer Service is nonexistent that people treat you terribly. They don't try to help you. They talk to you like what do you expect? It's your fault. Everything is the way it is because that's just the way it is if you don't like it, you can go kick rocks. They also will accept you from a brokerage at one rate then right in the middle of you paying them up by hundreds and hundreds of dollars giving you some phony excuse as to oh they need something to prove that you were not at fault for this or that accident "Huh"! Isn't that what the broker and the insurance company camper both discussed before signing you up? I mean come on that's when you check somebody's record when you're signing them on your insurance. Total total scam run the other way never in my life have I seen such a scam greasy dirt ball business and look they got one star with 500 complaints 500 reviews. Kemper Corporation / Infinity County Mutual Insurance is the most unethical company I've ever dealt with. Adjusters who take over a month to get back after a vehicle collision. Kemper has been the worst insurance experience I've ever had. They were quick to get me signed up and covered, which was great but the moment I actually needed their help after an accident, everything went downhill. The claims process has been extremely slow and there's zero communication. My car sat in my driveway for over a week because no one could tell me which body shops were approved. I had to pay for a rental car out of pocket, and even now, over a month later, my car is still sitting at the body shop waiting for their adjuster to show up. My adjuster, Nicholas Seitz, hasn't returned calls from me, my attorney, or the shop. Nobody seems to respond or take accountability. My story? Let's call it "Nightmare on Deceit & Unethical Conduct Street." Buckle up, folks. "Here are my opinions based on my personal experience." My dealings with Kemper, or should I say Alliance United, or Infinity (because they seem to love shapeshifting), have been nothing short of a spiraling descent into the abyss of abysmal service, smug duplicity and outright unethical behavior. Let's start with the name game; I'm not sure if they switch names as a part of some twisted rebranding strategy or if it's just to make it harder for customers to keep track of their shenanigans. But hey, a rose by any other name would still smell as foul, right?   I had the misfortune of witnessing one of their insureds crash into my parked car. The unlicensed driver was clearly at-fault so Kemper had 100% liability. Nevertheless, their arbitrary handling has been a masterclass in evading responsibility. It's like dealing with a shady character in a crime drama, only less entertaining.   The lack of integrity is truly impressive. From the get-go, it's clear they couldn't care less about innocent victims of their reckless insureds who inevitably cause injury and harm. Nope, their focus is squarely on raking in more dough while denying rightful compensation as they play a sordid game of legal dodgeball. Their commitment to unethical practices is almost impressive if it weren't so infuriating. I submitted undeniable proof, medical bills, provider statements, and clear accounts of physical injuries that grievously manifested. What did I get in return? Denials, deception, delays, diversion, and more denials. It's like they have a manual on how to be the absolute worst auto insurance company ever. Here in California they posture their willingness to accept insuring high-risk drivers as doing us all a favor. In reality, the exorbitant premiums they happily collect meant to cover the damage their insureds assuredly cause are hypocritically hoarded as they pull every trick in the book to deny valid claims, leaving foreseeable plaintiffs and injured victims in the lurch. In a last-ditch good-faith effort on my part I contacted corporate governance including CEO Joe Lacher appealing to whatever conscience they may have left to do the right thing. But instead of a respectful, reasonable response to civilized discourse, I received a bumptious email from a presumptuous lawyer with empty legal threats and ludicrous assertions. Coincidentally, I come to find this old bloke is self-celebrated for defending insurance companies charged with bad faith practices (surprise, surprise). Unimpressed and by no means intimidated, I would put forth the representation and impotent memo only serve to further evidence the unconscionable behavior devoid of principles and lacking merit. And don't get me started on the legal acrobatics. Quoting irrelevant statutes and outdated case law dug up from the Jurassic period? Please. If these tricksters put half the effort into objective negotiations & equitable settlements that they do into their spurious braggadocio and incessant marauding, maybe they wouldn't be facing a tsunami of negative reviews.   Kemper & comrades, your poppycock practices are obvious to all. The only thing that's transparent in your unsavory dealings is rampant unethical behavior endemic from top to bottom. A devious chameleon of a company with such a decrepit corporate culture demands foundational reform to address this shameful conduct, but it's abundantly clear this atrociously disreputable company won't change. They invest more into dodging their liability than honoring their basic purpose, then resort to attempted bullying when legitimately questioned. The lesson here is don't expect fairness, justice, or decency from a prattling cesspool of playground ruffians.   My advice? If you enjoy headaches, frustration, and dealing with an unscrupulous company that makes dealing with the DMV seem like a walk in the park - by all means, go ahead and choose Kemper, Alliance United, Infinity, or whatever they decide to call themselves next week. For the rest of us who have honor, integrity, principles, and value our sanity, it's a hard pass. I suggest consumers learn the laws and consumer protections, and utilize regulatory agencies to lodge complaints when faced with misconduct or duplicity. Exercise your rights and don't let eejits intimidate you with their blathering drivel. As for me, until this injudicious and predatory business implodes, I'll continue sharing my ghastly experience as my benevolence demands. And before Kemper replies with its disingenuous canned non-response, save your breath. The robotic auto-reply to email some catch-all is just another artifice to which they'll just ghost like an avoidant Tinder date. Don't waste your time engaging in an endless loop of antagonistic interactions. You'll find more humanity chatting with a spoon and you'd likely have better luck getting an honest answer from a Magic 8 Ball. read more
