They could not give me a quote when I dropped off my ring for resizing. I receive a call a couple weeks later with a very high quote and it still took another week to complete the work. I prefer upfront pricing so I could make informed decision regarding where to do business. read more

I stopped in to see if they could fix my fav necklace, which is not real by any means but still my fav. Mark, who works behind the counter helped me and said he would try too. I waited a few minutes and he came out and I asked if I can come back later for it. I got a call it was ready. He fixed it!! And at no charge. Which I truly appreciate and because of that will def come back for some future purchases. I was in to the jewelers for their buying event this am. I took out a pocket watch that I had appraised years ago and I knew it's worth. The guy (i think his name was Dominic from National Rarities) looked at it and said "I can give you $50 for it". I said wow, I had an appraisal done and this is what the appraisal said as I showed him the paper. It showed over 2 1/2 oz of gold. He said "well, I could test it for you"! I said I thought that is what you would do for all of this and not just guess at it value", as I pointed to my box of valuables. He tested the watch and said this is worth a lot! He also said "I need to check with my buddy over here". I thought, What! You're supposed to know this stuff. That's when I took the watch and said "we are done". I said "I had to push you to test this and I'm not going to give you any more to give me a guess. I called the owner of Ken Walker Jewelry and she was very sweet and understanding. I went in to purchase a gold split ring to add to a necklace to make it easier to put on. They are being very Covid careful & you have to ring the doorbell to be let in as only 4 at a time may enter. They still have their customary cookies but they are wrapped! They had a variety of sizes to meet my need and were very generous! They would not charge me! I really wish I had read the other reviews before shopping here. It's important to our family that we shop local, but please let me share my story. I first stopped by at 4:50 on a Friday afternoon to purchase an anniversary gift. They had locked the doors early, yet there were people inside with their dog and they waved their hands explaining that they closed early. Shame on me for procrastinating, so I figured I would let my honey pick something out in person the next day. We did just that and were talked into a $1400 necklaces. Only problem was the chain was too short. The sales person said she would order a longer chain and swap them out the following week. We had something that needed repair and were shopping engagement rings so this seemed fair. The new chain was never ordered and they have not returned my call. I should go in and make a stink about it but we decided to buy our ring someplace else and never return. I truly cannot stand "sales people" who tell you anything to get the sale. Oh, and the SAME necklaces was found somewhere else for 60% less. Total joke read more

I had already checked out a jeweler across the street, as it was walking distance from my work, however their reviews were terrible. I'm glad I went into Ken Walker as the staff were so pleasant, professional and helpful! Mark is amazing! If you're looking for jewelry or getting a ring sized (my ring stayed in house, they don't send them out to be worked on) then this is the place to go. Wrist watch requiring battery change was returned as "broken." On examination it appeared to not have been opened at all, so had the battery changed elsewhere and it works perfectly. The item has been around the world with me so has some attachment value, but suspect it was beneath his dignity that he should work on such a inexpensive common timepiece. Misinformation is always disappointing. A direct "no" is preferable. On the converse they have a nice collection, staff is cordial, and have been otherwise pleased with previous purchases and work executed on jewelry. So we all know with everything going our small business are suffering so I decided to do what I can to support one of the great local stores by taking them 3 watches for battery replacement. After about an hour I return to the store expecting to pay for 3 battery replacements. Much to my surprise they said 2 of the batteries were replaced and the other one didn't need one and my bill for all of that was $0. I guess one of the services they provide is if you have the battery replaced with them they will warranty it for the next 5 years and replace it for free. So I didn't get to spend any money with them but learned what great service is. This is exactly the kind of business that we need to support. They will have all my future business. read more

I'm a 42-year-old professional woman who walked into Ken Walker Jewelers today to do some serious looking at wedding/engagement rings for myself and my soon-to-be fiance. I was taking a vacation day off from work so I was dressed extremely casual in my workout pants and fleece jacket & winter hat. It took about 10 minutes for one of the three women who were working to even say a word to me. The young girl who asked to help me was fairly pleasant but didn't know anything at all about rings or diamonds. She said more than once that maybe at some point someone else who knows more could eventually help me but never called to the other women who by that point were not helping anyone else either. After walking back & forth looking at a handful of different rings having some idea of what I was looking for, another older blonde lady walked up and made comments to me about needing to sit down if I'm trying on rings. I explained that I sit all day and prefer to stand while I'm looking, then ANOTHER woman walked up and explained something about the cameras they have there which really made it seem like what they were attempting to say was that it's easier to watch ME on camera if I'm sitting down rather than moving around. It blew me away. Of course when I asked them that, they denied it. I was treated very poorly. My wedding and the activities surrounding it including picking out wedding rings should be some of the most fun and memorable times in my life. There was absolutely NO excitement or care in the service from these three women at all to show any sort of interest in what the idea of picking out an engagement/wedding ring even means to a couple, let alone the very obvious issues they had about me not sitting down and mentioning cameras. I have absolutely NO clue where that came from. What I do know is that as an almost life-long resident of Gig Harbor it was of the utmost importance for me to do business with a locally owned business to help support them. I showed them that I valued them as a local business by taking myself and my business to them. They blew it by not showing me at all that they valued me as a customer by how they treated me. Side note: The most friendly salesperson there was the young girl who didn't know anything at all about wedding/engagement rings, styles, etc. It amazes me that they would put such an inexperienced person in a position to handle such valuable merchandise as well as someone who could so easily lose a sale due to her lack of knowledge. It was not her however who ultimately lost what could have easily been close to a $10,000 sale - it was the other two women who treated me like a criminal and totally lacked warmth and kindness. I came in with my oversized engagement ring that had been purchased from a small online shop looking to see how much it would be to get it resized. It's not your typical engagement ring (it's two rings that look like one when worn together), so I had planned to visit multiple places to check pricing. The customer service I received in return was SO good, I decided to just use them right then and there. I wish I had asked for the blonde young woman's name when I was in, because she was fantastic. Pleasant, knowledgeable, and friendly. Helped me figure out the proper size. I was told it would be two weeks for the resize to be done, but got a call before the two weeks were up that it was finished. Picked it up and a different woman helped me, just as friendly and pleasant. Thanks for all the help, my ring fits perfectly now!
