We don't drink beer very often, but family told us to give this place a try for the food. We came in 2025 at the lunch hour. We were pleasantly surprised at the nice open drinking and dining area, that extends out to a patio area. We had a cheeseburger and fries, a grilled chicken sandwich and fries, and a bowl of onion soup. The sandwiches and fries were excellent. The onion soup was what my partner was afraid of. She reported that the thick melted cheese was good, but the broth tasted like what you get from packaged beef broth. It wasn't to her liking. read more

Kenai River Brewing is in my mind is in a more remote part of Alaska and that may sound amusing to say as in this state it's very easy and frequent to wind up in a remote location. But for a town just hovering below 5,000 people it seems like this is the local hub here. And pleasantly enough there is a brewery here to make it also a hub for some enjoyment as well in addition to necessities. For Kenai River Brewing the beer that I had and Steve had some sips of was the Grateful Red. This is an Irish Red Ale that I liked and a type of beer I don't often get but every once in a while I like getting one. Flavor features with this beer are malty, hoppy and with a clean aftertaste. The beer goes down smooth and is light bodied which I can always appreciate. Very glad and extremely thankful to try this brewery that in my mind is certainly off many beaten paths. read more

Let me tell you, this place is busy in July. We tried coming here on a Saturday, ended up driving through the parking lot 3 times before giving up. If that happens to you, don't let it deter you. We came back mid-week and I'm so glad we did. The French onion soup was amazing, one of the best I've had. The broth is beery (they use one of their own to make it), the cheese was the right kind of cheese and browned nicely, and the bread was rye, which was a nice surprise. The Kenai Quarter burger was the perfect size for both me and my husband, with quality toppings. I even thought the fries were decent; they're the hand cut, peels still on style, which I don't usually like but they weren't limp and greasy. The beer selection wasn't to my liking, but I'm weird and only like dark beer. I tried the house root beer instead and really liked it. My IPA-loving husband thought the beer selection had something for everybody, and enjoyed the ones he tried. Overall, a great place to visit when you want to get off the river and I will definitely be coming back. read more

This brewery has been a favorite since it was just a small operation located on the Spur. Now in its new location, with outdoor dining near the Kenai River and award winning brews, it's worth a stop. The food is limited and average for taste, but will fill in the chinks with your favorite beer - mine was their dark milk stout! Service is always pleasant and quick. There aren't many options in the Soldotna / Kenai area, so think about making this at least one of them when you're in town. read more

This place is legit! It was recommended by the fishing guide and he was not wrong. The brewery is big, plenty of space and clean. They have a big patio with a few fire pits that will keep you warm. The inside has plenty of seating with big windows. They have an ample amount of beer and all kinds. They even have root beer. I had the burger and it was juice and flavorful. I also ordered the wings and they have like a gummy bear sauce that was really good. After I placed the order, I noticed the fries loaded with pulled beef and cheese curds. All I have to say, IT IS A MUST!!! The service was great and very attentive. The bartender was very knowledgeable on the beer and friendly. A great place to go after a morning or day fishing. Great beer selections and menu. The deal is you can start a tab at the bar or by ordering food at the window, find a table, inside or outside. They will bring the food to your table when ready. We have eaten there numerous times. Recently, three days after I needed my jacket and when I couldn't find it thought maybe I left it there. I was in Soldotna to visit friends and they recommended this place for food. Unfortunately, I only had time to have one dish and that was their pastrami sandwich. However, it's indicative of the food their serve. It was delicious and refreshingly generous. As I ate my sandwich, I saw lots of food go past me as they were being served and I would have had any one of them. The place is nice with a lively atmosphere. They serve a lot of local beer flavors made on site, but I did not try any. My friends however are big fans of their brews. Stopping for a break and some cold beer on our drive from Homer back to Anchorage, we made our way to Kenai River Brewing. We had already eaten a late lunch in Homer, so this review can't speak to their food menu, although everything coming out of the kitchen looked quite tasty! I had their Russian River Razz in addition to trying a flight of a few of their other pours. I liked the Russian River Razz the most and was the one I ended up ordering a full pint of. My husband tried some of their darker beers and thought that they were mellow and smooth. They were following all social distancing and health protocols, with limited capacity and masks required. I came to Kenai River Brewing with a large group of 10 in early June. We came during the lunch hour and as expected, it was busy. They did a great job getting all our food out in a timely manner and worked with our group to get us a seat. The food here was delicious. I ordered the Reuben with Sweet Potato Fries and it did not disappoint. The sandwich was piled with meat and the fries were cooked perfectly. Ordering was done at a central register and food was brought out to us at the table. Tables were seat yourself and the staff was helpful with suggestions for what to order. It was relatively quick given the lunch rush and the staff was very friendly. The ambiance was exactly what I would expect from a brewery. People were laid back and friendly. Overall, I'd definitely come back and highly recommend it to anyone looking to grab a bite in the Soldotna area. read more

This place is like waking into a cozy cabin. We were greeted right away. The bartender was very helpful. Telling us what we can get what beers are her fav. We each got flights tried 8 beers. They had some interesting ones. Gummi Bears, yes gummi bear beer. I didn't enjoy it, but it smells like a gummi bear. Their nut brown was really really good. I didn't think I was an amber ale gal but this one was great. A flight was $6 (usd). The cheapest we've found so far on our trip. Again a great experience. I ordered a small bowl of onion soup. It was delicious and warmed me up. The ladies I dealt with over at the food counter area were so friendly and helpful. My soup was $7. I'd come here again, it's got such a nice country feel to it and it's clean and comfortable. We sat at the windows at the back and got to look out at the big beautiful trees. There is a patio but we were a bit chilly and wanted to stay inside. This place is a great stop along our brewery tour. I stopped by here a couple of Wednesdays ago my father for some afternoon drinks. We had been out fishing on the Kenai River for most of the morning and so the Kenai River Brewing Company seemed like a logical stop. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I went with a flight. At Kenai River Brewing Company that consists of four beers of your choosing and I went with the River H2O Pale Ale, Kenai SIPa, Grateful Red and finally the gummy bear beer. I really enjoyed the first three of those with the SIPA being my favorite of the bunch. It was the gummy bear beer (a Belgian type ale) which I didn't really enjoy. For whatever reason it just didn't work for me which is a shame as I am a big fan of gummy bears. Still I will applaud them for their effort to create something on the interesting side. The bottom line for me is that I would back here again in the future. I like that they are being creative, even if I didn't personally like it, and thought that the rest of their beers were some of the best that I had on the Kenai peninsula. read more
