As a comedian, I have traveled the world, and I have to say that this place is extremely unassuming. From the outside, you can tell that it is a motel and restaurant, but once inside you're in another world. The food is some of the best in all of Alaska, the staff makes you feel at home. They have music and comedy and a beautiful stage and the motel is so comfortable and welcoming. The curtains block out the sun to where you never know what time it is outside and that's just the way I like it The owner makes you feel like family. I have stayed here multiple times as a motel guest and have eaten here on many occasions and I give it one of my top ratings for both. I always feel safe happy and comfortable here. Do yourself a favor and come visit this place. Have the fried clams they're the best I've ever had. read more

Rock Star service and attitude. This was our first time at MSTG. We walked in and only two tables left. We quickly realized that there were several 14 top, 12 top, 10 top and there were only two warrior ladies running the show. I'm not sure how they did it being a former server. Not sure why I've never been here for dinner before. The food was super yummy!! I had a grilled chicken sandwich and the wife had the western burger. We both got the soup of the day, chicken corn chowder. They hooked it up with the veggies on my chicken sandwich and the bun they used was on point. Don't get me started on the crispy homecut fries.. Seriously probably the best in Kenai hands down. The soup was decent too. I'm a snob when it comes to soup though. Always thinking I can make it better. Lol All in all a delicious dinner and I'll no doubt be back. Next time I'm gonna have to try the alfredo or maybe even the ribs!! read more

Found this place on a whim. Was a little concerned that it was unmarked in a hotel (motel?) but decided to go for it anyway. WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. Hidden gem for sure. Give them a shot, totally worth it! read more

I ordered a bloody Mary with grey goose vodka, when I got it I could instantly taste that it was well vodka (horrible charcoal taste) I told my waitress, after bringing me another one with actual grey goose she said " I can't believe you could taste the difference, no one can ever tell" clearly they are trying to scam people. read more

We came here to watch the football game and it was a good setting for it. The waitresses were both very attentive and friendly. The food...not so great. The sad I had was swimming in water at the bottom, the loaded tots were just alright, and the sweet potato fries were not good at all. They were rubbery with no flavor...it was like eating styrofoam fries. Bummer. The beer was good! I would only go here to watch a game in the future. read more

We tried this out tonight for the first time on our anniversary. We had onion rings as an appetizer. They were hot, which is good, but seemed like a food service product - ie not made in house. Nowhere near as good as at like Red Robin. Also we weren't given any appetizer plates, so we both just ate out of the onion ring basket, dripping sauce on the table. The ranch sauce was good. We ordered beers on tap. The head was not right on all. My wife's beer was warm so they brought a different one that was cold. Her 2nd beer was also warm & flat. When you're primarily a beer bar, you better make sure your beer tap system is clean & working properly. This one isn't. I had the grilled chicken bread sandwich. It was great! Juicy & well cooked. The fries were mediocre & not hot. My wife got the blackened chicken sandwich. It was so dry & overcooked it was inedible & we sent it back. I struggled between 2 & 3 stars, but I'll go with 3 because the waitress was nice. I did like the many TVs & relaxed atmosphere. We may go back someday, but probably not any time soon. It's average at best, with some good things & some bad. read more

I hate to be the bearer of bad new, but I do not recommend Main Grill. I waited well over an hour for a 12 oz NY steak in a not even half full restaurant . The $30 Steak ended up being comped . Lucky for us because I would definitely not recommend it. The steak was so dry and thin; more like an $8.99 steak meal. The server offered us a burger, but immediately came back to us and told us she couldn't give it to us! After more complaining , she later did . It was better than the steak, but that doesn't say much. I don't recommend going here. Just an honest review. read more

This review is in response to One i read on trip advisor about how they didn't have a blender and they were disappointed and kept coming to "check" to see if they had a blender and how they were incapable of getting a blender. I'm gonna post the same thing I sent to the reviewer personally via trip advisor. Listen, most bartenders/establishments (non corporate) don't want to make blended drinks. It's time consuming, noisy, slows service in a rush with little return. You want blended drinks then I suggest you go to a chain restaurant or and island. No offense but your review warrants no merit. Go to a Mexican restaurant where they have an oasis machine for blended crap. As a bartender and craft cocktail mixologist, I wish the end of all blenders in bars across America and the ppl who complain about not having them. Have a Jameson, craft beer or an old fashioned instead of a syrup laden alcoholic beverage Or accept that this establishment does not and will not make frozen drinks. Do you go to the brewery and ask for a frozen drink? Probably not. So accept their brand and review them for what they do have. read more

The name keeps changing so I was a bit hesitant to get bar food with my son. Friendly staff and good assortment if appetizers, burgers, sandwiches and some main course items like ribs and fish and chips. My son had the Glacier Brew house root beer and boneless chicken wings. He said they were very good. I had the "grown up grilled cheese" sandwhich. grilled cheese with fresh tomatoes and bacon. it was great. Really like the home style french fries. didn't order the burgers but they looked really good too. now keep in mind it's bar food but 4 stars for the service, food, and service. read more

Hate to say it but we were severely disappointed in this place. It took well over a half hour to receive the beer I ordered. After an hour and fifteen minutes our food wasn't out yet and the couple next to us, who ordered after us, were halfway through their meals. I ordered a grilled cheese and soup of the day. Soup is ready-made and how long does it take to melt cheese between two slices of bread? Requested the check and cancelled the order. We asked for a status on our order twice, made a complaint and later a request for the check and never received no apology from the staff. Go across the street to Loui's or drive to Bistro Flats. Where do I start??? I begrudgingly came to Main Street a bit solemn and downtrodden. First off, my pet rooster Pierre was killed early thing "mourning" by a vicious pack of badgers. I mean they really got after him. Those hungry little bastards didn't leave anything behind except poor Pierre's behind and a tattered claw... Then to add insult to injury I realize I forgot to feed my beta "Mr. Carl's Jr." for 6 month. The death toll in the Thorstad house has risen to 2. Talk about one hell of a Saturday. After a short but sweet weeding ceremony at the Harris family ranch in Soldotna, Alaska we made our way to the famous or infamous MAIN STREET TAP&GRILL. Dixie, ooooooh Dixie. From her beaming smile and uplifting spirit my night was made!!! The libations came forth a flowin' like the mighty Yukon River None for me as I don't drink the devils naughty water(I'm just a lowly yelper of sorts). Bar was clean, drinks were accurate, service was prompt, good client base. Definitely a place I would frequent if I was local. Well run establishment. 5 stars!!! read more

I love this place! The food is constantly good! Prices are fair and the staff does their job! They are usually busy and usually slightly under staffed. Everyone is under staffed these days. At least you see the employees running their butts off and the food is still awesome. The place is CLEAN! The ingredients are fresh! I've worked front and back of house in restaurants for years-this is where I go to eat now. I'm so sick of rolling the dice and wasting my money on poor service and bad meals. This place isn't hit or miss, it's just a miss. Their 2nd star is only because they have live music and seem to be a part of the music scene here on the peninsula. Food is bad. Service is random or non-existent. Find yourself at the Backdoor or Kenai Joe's even. read more

Excellent! I went for a late lunch and got the $10 burger and brew. I didn't even believe this was possible anymore! A nicely made cheeseburger, fries that were recently potatoes, nothing at all greasy, and a locally brewed Kassik's nut brown ale. Ten bucks. Wow. Very clean, very nice staff. I wasn't a fan of the country music they has playing, but oh well. I wasn't a fan of the football they turned on after that either, but both of these issues are my problem! This is, after all, clearly a sports bar. A very clean and tastefully done one. read more

So I'm here again on a Friday night and it's slamming!!Good band and lots if hot guys and females to dance with. Main Street is still the place to be on Friday night if you want to dance, eat and drink. There's only one downside to this location. The women's bathroom could use an upgrade. It's clean but in order to close the stall doors you have to straddled the toilet. Not fun!! I take back one star for that reason alone. read more

This place has HORRIBLE service. The waitresses pay attention to who they want to, it'll take AT LEAST 20 mins or even more for a drink, forget about ordering another one your next drink won't show up until the next day.
